Guys I made a mistake in my previous review. Chopsticks deserves at least four stars and because they're really good people I give them five stars. Service is always so warm and fast. You're seated immediately and eating within five minutes. The employees here were calling some of the regulars by name and I think that says a lot about what good people they are. We crave chopsticks on our best and worst days. This place has a special place in my heart and I really think anyone in Renton should stop by and give it a try. read more

Very disappointed with the food we ordered last time. It looks like it's under new management and the customer service is terrible. It's an older man that usually comes out wearing an apron so I'm assuming he also does the cooking. We always have the same order, fried rice ( either pork or chicken) , salted pepper chicken wings , and some sort of a veggie on the side, we did garlic bok choy. First of all, the salted pepper chicken wings tasted horrible. They kind of tasted like a chemical and it was not pleasant. It was very difficult to eat. Their fried rice used to be the best fried rice I've ever tasted but it also tastes very different now. Not as good as what it used to taste like. read more

This was the absolute worst Chinese food me and my wife have ever had.. I had the broccoli beef,the beef was tan looking and did not taste like beef. My wife had the Kung pow chicken and the chicken didn't even look right, asked for three out of five and it came out very mild and cold And both of our fried rice is tasted dirty, is the best way to describe it. The worst fried rice ever. When the lady asked us about our food, we were honest and she kinda apologized, but told us the rice was made fresh in the morning. We were there at 5 o'clock at night. We did have the honey walnut shrimp, and they were pretty good. We probably ate less than a third of our meals. She did not compensate us. She said she told the chef and that was it. Food tasted old. I grew up eating Chinese cuisine so I was very disappointed in ordering takeout here. We had the family dinner A and the fried rice which was overcooked. Hot and Sour soup was more hot than sour. The almond chicken was dry and the gravy was oddly like curry. The salt and pepper chicken wings were extremely salty. Also be careful when you order takeout because the host added more than a 20% tip to the total. Luckily I still had a copy of the receipt so I ended up filing a dispute. The server was very nice, but I asked if there were bell peppers in the Kung pao, and he said yes. As you can see from the first picture, no bell peppers are in sight. When I asked about it, he talked to the chef and offered to add bell peppers at no extra cost, so I considered that fully acceptable as he mentioned he thought there was (also there are bell peppers in the menu photo). The flavor, however, was much too vinegar in my personal opinion, and there was too much water chestnut. Also kinda felt like for $3.50, the wonton soup was kind of small, but I guess that's food prices now. I would come back and try it again if they changed the sauce to have less vinegar. read more

This review is strictly base off of ordering for pickup/door dash. Pretty solid spot for my basic order of orange chicken, fried rice, chow mein, and honey walnut prawns. Whenever we're craving "Chinese" this seems to be the only one that's nearby and decent. The price are a bit steep but the portion do feed 3-4 of us so I do think it is a bit fair. The orange chicken is a bit sweet but always juicy and crispy and you can taste the orange flavor The fried rice is decent I do feel like it's a hit or miss sometimes it's salty and sometimes it's just right Chowmein is good Honey walnut prawns was good and I very much enjoy this Overall, we're always doordashing from here when we're craving the basic "Chinese" food. It sure beats Panda Express and it's down the street from us so that's a plus. read more

My son's welcome home celebration. The food was delicious and they were able to accommodate 25 guests. They were also able to give the Grandparents and Godparents their own table. We have been here as a group since before 2007 and been repeat customers, up to 20 at a time, here since before the beautiful remodel. The food hasn't been as good since the remodel. Our visit Saturday 8/10/24 will be our LAST-- because it was that bad! Greeted by a man, who has the customer service skills of a cook who should not have been allowed out of the kitchen. We met and sat and ordered as 4, hoping 2 more would join us. 4 people 3 soup varieties and he dealt them wrong. One friend had wonton, and her wontons tasted like a salt lick. All our soups were barely room temperature-- like they'd been left out all night, and someone just started to heat them. The food was not served together, some to us, some to the couple at another table. I had Kung Pao Chicken, which I've ordered dozens of times. My first mouthful was green pepper (?!?!?). I'm allergic to them, they've never been there before. I picked them out. Next bite? Peanuts were STALE! Not a fantastic meal. Few more bites? Something fine is crunchy in my teeth! Not just one particle! Lots. The kind you can hear in your ears!! Had some rice, took another bite and I was D. O. N. E.! The guy was in the kitchen, so I finally went back in the kitchen calling out. I told him I needed a different entree, (because I needed a full meal before my next stop). I tried to be polite, and speak softly. He yelled at me, and looked at me with contempt! Shouting something about charging me! Whatever. I ordered a beef entree, hit a full plate with eggroll and rice. No soup. Our friends joined us. I ate my second entire and he took the first back to the kitchen. My petite, less than 60" tall 75+ year former math teacher went to pay for her 13.99 lunch special and was told $21+ She said that's not right pulled out her calculator and he started YELLING AT HER!! "IT'S IN THE MACHINE NOTHING I CAN DO! I HAVE NO CONTROL--See? IT's $25+ (it's getting more expensive?) JUST LIKE I SAY! YOU PAY! 13.99x 10% tax+ 20% gratuity ( yeah 2 people joined us who paid together). When I went up, I didn't want a hassle. He told me $37+. (Seriously?) I did raise my voice, so everyone in the restaurant would hear me say "you mean your charging me for cold soup, green pepper and sand (really, could have been bone or ground glass) and stale peanuts in my food, and a 20% tip for your terrible service?" "NOTHING I CAN DO, IT'S ALL IN THE MACHINE! AS SOON AS ITS COOKED! NOTHING I CAN DO!! Etc. I informed him there might be nothing he can do, (not that I believed him, since he got my friends ticket down to $18). I could control the reviews we left! I just gave him my plastic. It's like a thank you for the good times we once had there, over the years, and a goodbye gift. I knew we would not EVER be back. He just kept yelling at me-- I leaned in at him, and just said "LIAR". Then he brought my receipt and said I must sign! I replied, "oh, my wrist, suddenly is not moving! There's nothing I can do! I sat and said goodbye to my friends. I wanted to leave before I was mad. Did I mention the first time we went under new management? My vegetarian friend ordered tofu and got chicken? The kindest thing I can say is someone was out sick, and this was a one off? They trusted someone with below zero customer service skills to run the shop? If that happens again? Filled with broccoli and veggies ( I never get the veggies when I eat/ate there) but the kicker was the attitude of the male manager/owner. Rude as hell. Our order came to $93. We have been looking for a good Chinese food place and thankfully found Chopsticks. Their almond chicken, sweet & sour pork and beef & broccoli were all fantastic. The fried rice that came with the meal was delicious and flavorful, along with the won ton soup and egg flour soup. We will definitely be ordering from here again read more

After a movie date, my boyfriend told me about this restaurant he would frequently order from back when he lived in Kent. This was that restaurant and when he arrived, he was surprised but intrigued to see the interior was remodeled. When we went through the door, we were greeted and seated promptly by our waitress. She was very knowledgeable on their menu and friendly to us. We had ordered the pupu platter and two of their family dinner combo B. The pupu platter is so worth the money and experience. The coolest one I have ever seen with only delicious appetizers that shouldn't be missed on it. The crab rangoon, egg rolls, bbq pork and fried shrimp were my personally favorites! They also brought out extra egg rolls and cold bbq which I thought was neat. The waitress and cook(?) came over to tell us about their extra offering and talked with us a bit about how the owners have changed. I think they are in goos hands as the decor and atmosphere were pleasant, the service was wonderful and the food was amazing. They make their own hot chili oil, as well as most of what they have on the menu which is a great sign! The chow mein, fried rice, Mongolian beef (It is spicy-ish) and sweet and sour chicken were great. Also their wonton soup broth is to die for and I enjoyed their egg flower soup as well. My boyfriend told me that the sweet and sour was the same to his relief as that was his go to order for takeout. Called and complained and then I let it go since these guys used to have good food before. Today we ordered food for take out again and they got the order wrong. When we called they were very rude. We took the food back since the fried rice was messed up again and the guy was very rude again. He did not even apologize for the mistake and when we asked how much longer he would say "soon" Service has gone downhill. Food is very average at best. Dry first time ordering from here and it was amazingly good! We got the General Tsao's chicken. It wasn't spicy. The saucy was sweat and the piece of chicken were nice and big. Not like some places that give you the scraps. The BBQ rice was amazingly good. And the wonton soup was delicious. We also got the Mongolian Beef and it was delicious. Nice big portions. I probably should try more of the menu before giving a review since I have only tried one item, the sweat and sour chicken. I get it to go so the sauce is separated from the chicken and just dip my chicken in the sauce as needed. But the chicken breeding is light and the sauce is not the typical bright red from a can. Chopsticks is the first Seattle area Chinese food that reminds my husband and I of home (Massachusetts). We will certainly be visiting again. Menu has many staples that you would expect (general tso's, beef and broccoli, chow mein, pork fried rice, etc.), but they also feature chicken fingers (thinly sliced chicken dipped in batter and deep fried). We have been unable to find these anywhere else thus far, and we're stoked to see these on the menu. Something unique about Chopsticks is their family dinner platters. They are almost like a prix fixe menu where you start with an appetizer platter (spare ribs and egg rolls), and there are different options of chicken, noodles, beef, and rice. Ours had general tso's chicken, beef and broccoli, chicken chow mein, and pork fried rice. Chopsticks customizes the platters based on the size of your party, but there is A LOT of food, be prepared to bring some home. read more

My favorite place was closed, so we gave Chopsticks a try. Ordered 7 lunches today for co-workers and I. Called right when they opened and got a lady. I gave her the orders but she interrupted me after the 3rd item and asked me for my name. After I told her my name, she said "thank you bye" and hung up. I was in awe that she didn't even let me finish my order and hung up on me. I called back and told her I was just on the phone with her and that I wasn't finished placing my order. She felt silly, I'm sure. One of my co-workers and I ordered almond fried chicken and sadly, it was very dry - some parts almost jerky like. It was cut thinly, so maybe that's why. It just didn't taste right and breading was falling off. I wish I had taken a picture. The fried rice looked flavorful but was anything but. It was also very dry and usually I love love love fried rice but I was very disappointed at how dry it was. I nearly choked while eating it. I would not come back. read more

I have been here a few times over the past year and every visit has been worth of a single star. When you read reviews, it's obvious this place has zero consistency. Many guests talk about poor, slow service, and food that doesn't taste as expected. In my most recent visit, it took at least 5 minutes to get seated because the two women at the register couldn't decide who was cashing out customers and who was taking to go orders and who was seating customers. The one non Asian female sat me and she was the definition of incompetent. I had to ask for items multiple times, after taking my order, she came back to take it again because she forgot my simple dinner combo and during my meal, I was missing items and never had my water refilled or was asked if my meal was okay. This was all topped of with a 10 minute post minute wait before she even deteced I was done. When this red headed stuttering server asked me if I needed anything else. I told her I needed the manager with my check. She said ok, and went right back to being distracted. When she returned 5 minutes later, she told me "The Manager wasn't available, but she is like a manager". I told her the service was terrible, my order was inaccurate and zero service was provided during my meal. She told me she heard me and would work to do better Rather than argue, I paid and left, without a tip. The owner always says in his reply, let us know before you leave, we'll make it right. Now I can say, in print with full confidence. He's a liar! They knew they had been screwing up all night, because the family at the table next to me complained 3 times as well. Rather than deal with the issue, they allowed this server of questionable mention agility to absolutely ruin eveybody's meal. If you eat here and have the same experience, don't be suprised, recent reveiews are clear about the issues here and the positive reviews are clearly from people that have no idea that their meals should taste better than China Express at the neighboring Safeway.
