Came on a Saturday at lunch time for dim sum with 2 kids. Parking lot had a few spots (I'm guessing usually plenty of parking) and we were seated immediately (though all the tables were full once we sat down). Service was fast and efficient, we grabbed some items from the cart and ordered some as well. Tea for my husband and myself, water for everyone (plenty of refills). Kids enjoyed it- green beans, radish cake, soup dumplings, pork buns, shrimp noodle, shrimp and chive dumpling, spare ribs. I thought the quality was good and it was so nice to have a quick weekend lunch since the kids were hungry. The service was very attentive and the dim sum was good! I've driven by this and the other Chinese bbq place nearby for years while working in the area and never tried either. Bbq joint was closed at lunch on a Friday!? So dim sum or a lunch special really sounded good so I tried to get Lucky. A very lovely sweet young hostess and two older servers were great to get me seated right away, choice between lunch combo or dim sum. Because reviews talked about cart service I chose that since there were other tables eating and my nostalgic memories of great dim sum cart options. After deciding to splurge on dim sum I realized that THE cart was mostly empty and instead of traditional small steel steam trays it was a glass enclosure cart with plated items. I started with the only thing I might eat from a few lousy choices in the cart, shrimp and chives dumplings, and ordered two other faves of mine from the kitchen. Those items never came and they let me think about how dried out and stiff the item I ordered was. Then I looked at their prices and realized it was going to be over $20 before tax and tip for food I didn't like that may or may not be coming. So I had to check out with the hostess since the servers weren't coming around. She was very kind and apologetic. It was over $10 before the standard tip I left for three small dried out pieces of which I only ate two. Wow I left out the fact it's dirty old Herfy's location with storage junk over the whole back wall of the restaurant and an equally filthy cook smoking a cig in front of the place. That usually doesn't keep me from eating at an Asian restaurant but my wife wouldn't think of eating here! She was excited to see the one item I couldn't stand to eat when I brought it home for her. We eat a lot of this type of food on weekends and know well. She says Trader Joe's frozen dim sum is better. I wouldn't know as I don't eat that stuff she brings home. If it was excellent and good service without giving me time to think about it I would have stayed but I was so disappointed I closed out and left. Left hungry!! One of only two dim sum restaurants I know in this state that still carry their dim sum goodies in carts being manually pushed between tables... very sad times we've come to. I came here with a group of ~15 around 11:30am on a Sunday, and my sis made a reservation for the place just in case. It actually wasn't busy at all, but for our group we had to be split into one large roung table and a separate 4-person table. We ordered mostly the usual stuff, but everything overall was better quality than I had remembered from when I went here with my family many years back after a trip to the Puyallup Fair (yes I still call it that because Washington State Fair doesn't roll off the tongue...). I get dim sum a lot so I'll only list the notable things here: - The shrimp with spinach dumpling was interestingly good. It was essentially a regular har gow with a strong spinach taste if you look past the color. - Egg tarts were probably my favorite; they had a flaky crust to theirs and the taste between the crust and the yolk was very balanced. - The siu mai was very fresh; I remember it was piping hot when servers brought it to us by cart. A pretty solid place for dim sum and I'll most likely come back here again after another special event for sure! read more

It has been a while since coming here to enjoy some dim sum for lunch! I like coming here for the convenience and also their dim sum is good! As soon as we entered we were greeted by the very kind hostess and she was able to get us a seat right away, too. The restaurants interior is a bit crowded the way they have arranged their seatings, not sure how else they can possibly make more room because the place it self isn't that big. I'm pleased with the dim sum here. A few of my favorite things to order is the beef tripe, shui mai, and the fried shrimp balls! My family and I have frequent this restaurant for many years but in the last couple of years the food has changed a bit. One of our favorite were the Salt & Pepper Chicken wings! Those were bomb! Recently they have become very battered. I don't recall them ever being batter before. Wish I took a picture but they literally looked like over stuff shrimp tempuras. I'm sure they still somewhat still taste the same but the batter is just heavy and soaks up a lot of oil. Thankfully they were across the street so we didn't have to travel far. The restaurant was busy on a Sunday afternoon. The parking lot was almost full. I ordered the siu mai, steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed shrimp and chive dumplings, and the green beans with garlic. I paid $36 for everything. What a great price. The dumplings were all huge. The siu mai were a good three biter. The shrimp dumplings were smooth with chunks of shrimp. A simple yet delicious har gow. We also really enjoyed the shrimp and chive. These were made fresh , I had to wait a little longer for these to come out. Well worth it. The chive gave it a nice flavor. A good price for sizes. Also the green beans! A whole takeout container for $7 . The best garlic green beans I've had. You must try their chili oil as well! Not that spicy at all. I could finally douse my dumplings in a chili oil. I've been here twice and both times didn't disappoint. At first it seems like a sketchy lil Chinese restaurant but you gotta trust the process! This is the only place I have found that still does dim sum carts post covid which is something I miss! The restaurant has its own parking lot so no issues with finding a place for your car which is nice. Service is good and the food wasn't bad. Prices were fair as well! My favorite thing about Lucky House is the carts with food already available - one has steamed items and one has fried and baked stuff. Have lived in Kent for 21 years and this was our first stop at Lucky House. The building itself is not very welcoming to start, but able to make our way in and bring out the typical Chinese decor on the inside. Lots of smiles when we walked in and kindly showed us our table. We wanted dim sum, but they also have a full menu to order off of for those not into dim. Once greeted our server disappeared, took her a while to come back for the order but once we ordered the food came flying out of the kitchen. There were some pluses and there were some just ok. Everyone has a shumai and theirs was probably a 3-4, just not a lot of flavor. The green beans were awesome and a very close second to the you know who restaurant The best dish was the crispy shrimp balls. How can I explain, a large prawn stuffed into a ball of goodness the. Dipped and coated with crunchy won ton wrappers and fried to a golden perfection. This was served with a honey dressing. And was incredible. The value is there as we ordered large dishes and we ended up taking home left overs. Odd thing, is I noticed they brought tea out with your water whether ordered or not and then charged you 1.75. Another odd thing they had posted was 18% gratuity on 5 ppl. It didn't affect us, but the table next to us were confused even though it was posted clearly. Will come again. read more

It's rare to find push carts dim sum to relive my youth. This place is located in Kent and there's ample of parking in the lot. The service was impeccable, the staff was really nice. We came here on Friday for lunch. I noticed a lot of people ordering to-go. It wasn't too busy when we came but there's a lot of tables, and I can see it filling up over the weekend. There's two carts; one for the fried food and the other for the steam food. There's a lot of selections, so you can pick as many as your heart desire. The dim sum was pretty good. The sui mai has a nice size to it. Chicken feet was okay. Couldn't go wrong with the radish cake. I would totally recommend coming here, as there isn't much of a wait on the food like other places. Hidden little yum cha restaurant in Kent. Near Kent station/ Kent downtown. The restaurant has its own parking lot (free of course) We got there right at 10am on Saturday when they opened. There was no cars in the parking lot so we were nervous. The windows from the outside is dark so we can't see inside We were the first customers to arrive. They sat us right to away, asked us what tea we wanted. The ladies with the dim sum cart came over right away asking us what we wanted to get Steaming hot food came off the steam cart for us. Everything was delicious and generous size. As we were finishing up around 10:35am, more and more customers started filling up the place (but still have empty tables) The food here is good and minimal weight. Since the food is on the cart you can get what you want right away. No need to order from iPad and wait like the "modern" dim sum/ yum cha places Staff seemed cold at first, but I think that's just the Chinese way, we don't show a lot of affection LOL. I like this place because they have Gigantic combination Dinners: A full entree (we got a honey walnut prawn & almond fried chicken) plus fried rice, soup, egg roll & 4 pieces of sweet and sour chicken. For only $25 a meal. You really can't eat it all in one sitting. I really love their potstickers, they are definitely homemade but they do cost $14 which is rather pricey. Tonight we ordered delivery, and we were very disappointed in the food. The almond fried chicken was almost inedible, it was so overcooked inside. Which seemed weird because the batter on the outside was quite golden, not burnt. For takeout they put the gravy on the side so it won't be soggy. I had the honey walnut shrimp. And the shrimp tasted....off, somehow. Almost undercooked. The pork inside the potstickers was a bit too pink, so I had to airfry it just to be safe. I did request that the rice be served in a separate container as the entree, but the cook ignored it. The saving grace was the sweet and sour chicken. They were cooked perfect in a very fluffy tempura. So we were a bit disappointed after paying $85 for 2. The almond fried chicken was so bad my son says he refuses to eat there again. There is one thing I really want to try though. Egg Foo Young. I've never had it, but the descriptions and pics look good. But I'm hesitant to spend $20 on an item that I may or may not like. Charging $19 for fried rice is a sin. Yes I understand inflation and all that, but this place can get very pricey, especially if you order delivery. The best meal I've had there was the time we dined in, I'm not very Experienced with Dim Sum but would like to try it but reading the other reviews I'm hesitant due to complaints about small portions, quality of food/selection and price. So all in all, if you like American style Chinese food you'd probably like this place. The combination dinner is huge and you get a lot of food for your money. Parking was easy and was able to get seated pretty quick even though they had a good flow of customers. One do the few dim sum places that still have the push carts which has some nostalgia factor. We came in on Saturday afternoon for some lunch! We were able to be seated right away, and we loved the decorations in the restaurant. When we were seated, there was food that was immediately available and pushed to us on a trolley. It was awesome to not only be able to see the food up close before ordering it, but choosing which one specifically. We ordered a bunch of food! The Garlic Green Beans- these were incredible. They were fresh, bright and went with everything. We couldn't stop eating these. Golden Shrimp and Chive-these were really fresh. More shrimpy than chive, but nice. Deep Fried Shrimp Ball-this was okay, although I prefer my shrimp fresh versus fried. I wouldn't get this again. Shanghai Dumpling-very satisfying. I love a good soup dumpling. Pan Fried Rice Noodle Roll- these noodles were rolled up to make thick little noodles. These were a chewy delight, and the flavor was solid. Salt and pepper squid-these were okay. They came with green onions and peppers, and the squid was fresh. I think these could have had a little bit more zing though, and they were a little too oily. I would pass on these unless they changed their recipe. BBQ buns- these were too sweet for me and not enough filling. Not for me at all. Sesame balls-these were excellent! Chewy and not too sweet. They nailed these. We enjoyed our food with their house tea, but heads up they do charge you for the tea-it is not free with the food. We would come back! We found that with their dishes, we either absolutely loved them, or didn't like them at all. They have room to grow, but the favorites of the day (green beans, soup dumplings, sesame balls, noodle rolls) were five star dishes. read more

Extremely clean bathrooms! The service is decent. I was looking to try dimsum in Washington for the first time but was disappointed in the food quality and presentation. Lots of the food was lukewarm and had little resemblance to authentic dimsum that I have had in other parts of the country and world. Specific mentions: The seafood tofu soup was extremely disappointing -- no egg white, crab, etc that you would typically find at other places. The cha siu bao was decent, a bit too sweet and the insides were unevenly filled. It had been sitting on a cart so it was cold. The xiao long bao was also cold, not much soup and thick skin. The lo mai gai was decent but didn't have much meat in it. The shrimp dumplings and chiu chow dumplings were ok. The skin tore too easily and the taste was mediocre. read more
