Yummm yummm yummmmm!! What a hidden gem! This spot saved the day. We had been driving around trying to find a Chinese restaurant to have a family dinner for New Year's Eve. This spot is probably overlooked a lot. Trust me you are gonna want to eat here. Prices are very affordable and portions are huge. Sorry for he pictures not doing it any justice. Popped in because I was craving some hot and sour soup on this cold fall day. What else could compliment a massage and a manicure and a pedicure? I was really looking for an old-school San Francisco type Chinese joint and man. Did I find it across from my nail spot. I was gonna go left, but I looked right after my left. Turn to turn right and pull right into that restaurant. Because I figured the universe must be talking to me right because how else would it give me exactly what I wanted. It's that old brick type, sign outside that you've seen it 1 trillion Asian places. I went in nice group in the back and some couples upfront and it looked like it used to be an old sushi joint. I ordered a small hot and sour soup along with an egg foo young the house, one. Came with gravy and rice. Now they started off with tea because you know old-school Chinese restaurants always give you some tea. And it tasted just like it. I ordered. There was one gentleman running the whole place and doing a good job at it too. The sour soup blew my mind. It was perfect. I really couldn't say anything to make it any better except for maybe a little hotter as for the temperature. I'm not sure I was a fan of the egg foo young. The gravy look like soup I asked for on the side so it came in a bowl, but it was see-through. Usually there's a bigger crust and there's like three egg foo Young's. So they pan fried it instead of deep fried it which is healthier. But it just didn't have the flavor profiles I expected. I try to piece or two shrimp Chicken and beef and none of them had any seasoning. Neither did the gravy and it was like water. I definitely would try something different next time. In their defense, they had just taken a lot of orders and I think they might've been rushing. Still love this place just the same and I'm sure you will too. Come to give them a try. read more

First time back to this location since Covid. Tried takeout back then but wasn't impressed. I had seen driving Ambaum that they were open for dining. I had read some recent reviews and it seemed things had improved. My wife and I were looking for American Chinese food that wasn't too hot pot oriented. I'm not putting down other varieties but when I want good American Chinese I know what I like. We started with the Hot and Sour Soup which was nicely balanced with lots of tofu, bamboo shoots egg. Didn't have any mushrooms which I like but it wasn't bad and had a little bit of heat. We ordered the bbq pork which was very flavorful, the Chinese mustard had sufficient zing for my liking (got my eyes watering). My wife had Mongolian Beef with white rice. Rice was included and maybe entrees were in the upper teens to lower $20 so I don't mind paying more if rice is included. Wife had just a little spice and hers came out perfect. I ordered the House Egg Foo Young. Definitely a meal for two and I upgraded to bbq pork fried rice. I really liked the rice. Lots of soy and maybe a little oily but that's my wife's opinion. I liked it. Egg Foo Young was enormous. Gray with peas and bamboo sprouts on top. Overall with appetizer soup and entrees with tip less than $70. We could have gone with meal for two $44. Yummy! After a long day of traveling, we were looking for a quicker more casual dinner. And this place was just that! There weren't many people inside the restaurant but man the take-out business must be where it's at. Our waiter handled the tables inside, the phone orders, and the pick-up counter all with ease. I really enjoyed my experience at Happy Garden! There are basically no Chinese restaurants near my home, so I'm happy there are still some traditional places somewhat nearby! I ordered the Lunch Special which they offer every day including weekends. It includes a main dish of your choice, steamed rice or fried rice, appetizer of the day, and hot & sour or egg flower or wonton soup (extra). I chose Cashew Chicken, steamed rice, and hot & sour soup. The appetizer was a fried egg roll. The next time I visit I think I'll try a different main dish and I'll go for the fried rice! All the food was really good, the price was cheap, and we had lots of leftovers! The inside was very comfortable with many booths and tables. It wasn't very crowded and we got to choose where we wanted to sit. Our waiter was awesome. He was very professional (repeated our order to us) and prompt (we did not have to wait for anything). Happy Garden was one of the first restaurants I tried after moving into the Burien area is still one of my favorites. The food is delicious and there's plenty of it. The only things I would change are: 1. Separate rice for each dish (sometimes it's a group that doesn't want to share for specific reasons) 2. I'd love to stop craving it on Mondays and Tuesdays, the two days they're closed! (Entirely a me problem.) read more

This place also delivers. I've eaten here three times and my grandparents swear by it, mother in law loves it and hubby always insists on it. I like their egg flower soup, it is creamy and thick and has corn in with the cooked egg. Everything is always served hot which I love too - their black tea is awesome and they keep your water glass full. Friendly and fast and attentive service. I like the crispy beef but it isn't spicy like it says on the menu. My husband got what was supposed to be a spicy chicken special and it wasn't spicy either; both entrees were sweet. So if it says spicy... Don't be afraid. It's really not. I felt the lunch portions were way too much food for me but I tend to eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day rather than eat huge portions once or twice. $13 for lunch for two is pretty great though and you get the tea, an egg roll and your entree with soup! read more

Absolutely the best Chinese food in Burien - for the most part. We changed from our regular place to this place. Egg Fu Yeung is old school - pancake style with great gravy; sweet and sour chicken is yummy (but sauce is way too thick, sweet and RED, like from a can); Hong Kong Style chow mein is delicious (for to-go, ask for extra crispy noodles, packed separately); the orange chicken (fried, but not crunchy) almost melts in your mouth; and spring rolls are supreme (come with icky, thick red sauce). As stupid as it sounds, even our picky cat is crazy about their chicken dishes, meaning we now order enough so we can make a plate for him. I have never EVER seen a Chinese food restaurant take such care in packing a to-go order, even cutting the container for fried items so the steam doesn't make them soggy One review complaint was the restaurant did not take their to-go order once because they were too busy. We think that is a good thing - we would rather they tell us they are way too busy than have us waiting around for an order that took forever or one that was cold. We a re w very, very happy with their great sevice. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars is because we no longer order almond or lemon chicken, which we like, because the almond chicken is like 1/2 of a pounded chicken breast and (1 serving); the lemon chicken like a pounded small chicken breast (maybe 1-1/2 servings) - for way too much money. We found this place on Yelp, a few negative/mostly positive reviews, so we gave it a try anyway because their menu looked very interesting. Their Chili Sauce is great, too! This is my go-to Chinese restaurant. I live close enough for delivery, which is awesome. I come here for lunch periodically because the lunch specials are really inexpensive, and have large portions. They all include an Entree, Soup, Rice, and an Eggroll. The service is quick, and I'm usually in and out within a half hour or so. I'm no expert on Chinese food. I have friends who are, and they say this is the 'Americanized' version. It matters little to me, because it's tasty. Everything I've had here has been very good.
