Since the closing of King Wok, we have been looking (desperately) for a good Chinese restaurant. I haven't written a review for King Wok, but if I had one thing to say about them was that they were consistently good. That is a rarity as you all know with any restaurant, let alone one serving Chinese food. Alas, King Wok is no more. We move to Magic Wok. Not a bad find. Pretty decent food; not as good as King Wok, but a strong second. We ordered a few times from there and what happens? They close their long-time-open doors! Dangit! Ok, whatevs...happens. So on to Chopstix. Reviews lukewarm, but acceptable enough to give them a try. So we did. And Quoth the raven, "Nevermore." The food, like the reviews, was lukewarm. The dim sum were pathetic. The wonton soup broth was cloudy and the wontons were mostly empty, doughy, noodles. The general tso's chicken was similar to a dish I once made as a small child with chicken bits and red Kool-aid - waaaaay to sweet and unbalanced. The twice cooked pork was served as pork strips, so skinny that I could not differentiate the onions from the pork. The fried rice was okay. I may finish that at some point, but the rest of the leftovers won't be taking up any real estate at all in my abundantly open fridge, I assure you. This place is trying to be a Japanese sushi, Habatchi, Asian, "fusion" joint, but it is more conFUSION than anything else. My gut usually tells me to stay away from places trying to do too many things. They don't ever seem to do any one thing well, rather multiple things badly. This place is new in a newly renovated (and now more active) strip mall near my home. They sent a menu to our door and everything looked so good, we decided to stop in on a Friday night. The interior is beautiful, well done with a bubble screen water feature, ambient lighting that changes colors, rich woods and a nice bar. One issue...they are still awaiting their liquor license, so don't expect cocktails yet. However, once they get it, this will be a great place! The food was great and really reasonably priced. My husband and I split 3 sushi rolls, and they were all fresh and very tasty (they have both cooked and uncooked varieties). They also serve a variety of Thai and Chinese dishes, and we both ordered a meal. I had sesame chicken, and my husband had lo mein. To my surprise, the chicken was all white meat! Very tasty, fresh, great sauces, and large helpings (took some of it home, in fact). By the time all was said and done, I think we'd only spent about $45 on all that food - though decidedly, alcohol would've pushed that tab up quite a bit. Really like this addition to the area, and it's some of the freshest Chinese food around. The sushi is wonderful, if you're into that, and I have no qualms about trying any of their other dishes. They also have a limited delivery area, but I saw many people coming in to pick up take-out. I just finished my 5th meal from here and decided it's time to review. This is the best Chinese food in the area, and I have tried them all. The Chinese, Thai and sushi are all well done. The restaurant has gotten better since the first time I tried it on opening weekend and it wasn't bad then. One reviewer posted that King Wok was great and in my opinion, that was some of the worst food I have ever paid for. So obviously our tastes differ. However, Chopstix tops Magic Wok as my go-to now (I've left them a review as well). Is this going to be the best Chinese you've ever had? Probably not. Is this the best option in a 5-10 mile radius? Yes it is. The Hunan Chicken extra spicy is my personal recommendation. Try it and I'm sure you will wholeheartedly agree with my review. Enjoy. read more

Since Chopstix stuck a menu on my mailbox I decided to give them a try and order for delivery one evening as I was in the mood for some lo mein. I called and told the guy I wanted to place an order for delivery, what proceeded next was like a comedy skit. I had to repeat my name and address several times and even with me spelling it he kept calling it back wrong and telling me he couldn't find my address, that was because he was misspelling my street name. I had to repeat my order (house special lo mein and spicy tuna roll) and my card number a couple times to get the order in. Whew. After an entire hour I called to check on my order and a girl answered. I asked her if my order was on it's way and she said, "If it's been an hour it should be." So I asked her if she could check to make sure it is rather than telling me it should be on it's way. She asked my name, fumbled with some papers, then asked what I ordered. I told her and she said she had to check the back to see, she came back a minute later and said it was on its way. 10 minutes later my food arrived. The sushi was getting warm and the lo mein was getting cold. I got the combo that came with egg roll and egg drop soup and the egg drop soup had small tofu cubes in it, first time I've had that. The sushi was OK but temp was off-putting, the egg roll tasted pretty good but was a bit cold. The lo mein was bland, even with the addition of soy sauce and sriracha it wasn't very great. It seems this restaurant has potential but I was not impressed. I would probably not order from them again but I'm not impressed with any of the other Chinese delivery around me so I'll give them another shot before writing them off, if my next experience differs I'll update my review. read more

I have been here twice and think the food is good for what you get. I have gotten the bamboo diet steamer with chicken (dinner) and chicken and shrimp (lunch) with white rice and teriyaki sauce on the side. When I first ordered it for dinner, I was not quite sure what to expect... the food came out in a bamboo container, the rice and sauce were in separate bowls and I got a plate to put it all on. I really loved it as it gave me a way to control how much sauce I put on my food. Speaking of the food, it was amazing. With or without the sauce, in my opinion. The teriyaki sauce was also really yummy. When I got the lunch portion with chicken and shrimp (since it was the same price as just with chicken), it all came on one plate with the sauce on the side. I also got a egg roll and my choice of soup (I got egg drop which was super tasty). It was just the right amount to fill me up. Their California rolls are also good. My mom has gotten the Mongolian beef the first time and the Beef Ho Fun the second time (which looked yummy!) ... she was given enough to serve two people, so she had to get a to go box both times. My dad says their chicken fried rice is also good. I had to take off a star because service is slow. Seriously, the wait staff is super friendly (if hard to understand at times), but everything takes awhile to come out even when the restaurant is half empty. I will keep frequenting this place as the food is really good, but I hope they work on the service time! read more

Tasty food, I went there for my first time I recently moved to Woodstock so I'm still figuring out good sushi places around! I found the here on yelp! When I got the the place looked very clean and organized! I sat at the bar and asked for a to go! The waitress was very friendly and fast! I ordered 2 naruto rolls they are wrapped with cucumbers they don't have any rice, it was very fresh and tasteful! But one roll has only 5 small pieces! Most sushi places have 8 to 10 and it was very pricey! I also got 2 hand rolls again very tasty but a lot of rice and 2 very small pieces of salmon! My bill was $45 and some change plus tips! I would recommend the place if it wasn't the rolls weren't so small and expensive! read more

First timer! Sometimes you gotta take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. The servers were very friendly and accommodating, and made good suggestions. Drinks stayed full. Calamari was cooked perfectly. It wasn't rubbery or overly chewy, and the seasoning was on point. We had an Alaska roll, spicy tuna roll, and a Boston roll. I can't think of anything negative to say about any of the food we had. It's obviously not fine dining and you're just not going to find THE BEST SUSHI EVER in this area. But I will definitely be returning and bringing friends. The price is right, the service is good, and I left satisfied but not overstuffed. Can't wait to try the other things on the menu! read more

While from the outset this restaurant looks like a promising Asian Fusion joint, once we had our food I was less than impressed. Items we had: Steamed Dumplings: not my meal Shrimp Spring Rolls: not my meal Panang Curry with Chicken: Bland, no heat Dragon and Phoenix: Bland, no heat in the GTso. Sweet and Sour Chicken: Not my meal but had the look of the average fried chicken bits and cup of pink sauce. Fried rice as a side: Bland, no veg/little egg. Overall not a repeat for standard Chinese or Thai fare. We did not try any sushi, so there might be hope in that department, however there are several stellar sushi bars in the area and I am not sure I would risk disappointment. read more

We dropped by here before going to a movie for my husbands birthday. There was only one other table of 2 and our waitress seemed overwhelmed. Nice but very slow. I got the Beef Ho Fun (wishing the Ho Fun rice noodle was fresher as it seemed a bit slimy or over cooked) My husband got Dragon Phoenix, which was very good. Thought they would give a bowl of ice cream or something for his B-day especially because we mentioned it. It will be a long while till we come back. This is one of the tastiest Asian fusion restaurants we've ever eaten out at, and also had the very best prices. Good service and decor, too. We got their coupon in the mail and were very intrigued by the lunch prices which ran to $6.95 for a lot of dishes, so went there for lunch on a Saturday. At those prices, I was concerned it might be one of those dumpy Asian take-out places that have a couple of tables shoved up against the window so they could call themselves a "walk-in" place, but no, they had plenty of booths, the decor was very, very nice definitely an eat-in place but they do take-out too, I believe. Most importantly the food was DELICIOUS. I had the pork with garlic sauce,and the garlic sauce was light and lively and not at all the flavorless brown stuff you get at some Chinese restaurants, the meat and veggies were tasty too. My wife had the sweet and sour shrimp. She pronounced the shrimp fresh and tasty and the sauce delicious, though a bit hot for her (she does not care for heat in her food). My garlic sauce had a mild burn to it, but it was VERY mild, and while I'm more tolerant of heat in my food than my wife, I consider jalapeno peppers WAY too hot, I'm more of a poblano fan, so when I say the heat is mild, you can take my word on it. My son had the Masaman curry which he pronounced delicious as well, and I sampled some and agreed. Whoever is running the kitchen knows what they are doing. The soups were delicious as well. My egg drop soup was nice and eggy, the way I like it, and my wife and son pronounced the hot and sour soup delicious as well. (The hot and sour soup had a mild burn as well, but then, it's hot and sour soup.) The egg rolls were kinda mediocre, not awful but not up to the standards of everything else we had. Egg rolls, soups and drinks (iced tea and cola drinks anyway) are included in the $6.95 price of the meal, so the three of us got out of there after paying just a shade over $20 which is great for nice-sit down restaurant like Chopstix. Lunch hours extend to 3 pm so it's not hard to make lunch. Be aware, though, that dinner prices are almost double the lunch prices. To sum up, go to Chopstix, eat, have a great time and save yourself some money. It's a great deal. read more

Chopsticks was a family favorite for several years, pre-Covid. It was our Christmas Eve dinner tradition. Always tasty with good service. I was excited when they reopened after the lockdown spring 2020 and treated myself to my favorite sushi. Sadly it was inedible. The avocado was brown and the whole thing lacked flavor. I chalked it up to what most places were going through with workers, etc. I went back again last year to give it another try. The soup tasted like campbells broth and the gyoza was not good. I decided this week to give it one more try and was very disappointed. My chicken broccoli had little flavor and the chicken was slimy and icky with stretchy fatty pieces. The egg roll was gooey and the wontons for my soup were stale. The rice and broccoli were meh but I could eat it (however the egg fried rice missing egg). Most of it went in the trash. I'm very sad they haven't been able to recover. I was hoping after 2 years they could get their quality back to where it was. I wish them the best but I won't be back. read more

I have nothing negative to say about this restaurant. The color changing backdrops and the interesting water piece at the entrance were really cool to look at. And the whole place was very clean. The food was great! My mom and I split some really good vegetable spring rolls as an appetizer. She ordered the chicken and broccoli, said it was delicious. I got the 3-roll for $11.95 lunch special which came with my choice of miso soup or a salad. I believe there's also a 2-roll lunch special for $8-something. The sushi was wonderful--very fresh! It was probably the best spicy tuna roll I've had in a while. I can't wait to try one of their specialty rolls next time. Being close to my home, Chopstix has become one of favorite places to eat. Their menu makes for a difficult decision to choose just one entree. Their sushi, Chinese, Thai, and Hibachi have all been excellent. The interior is brand new and classy. The cost is pricey but fair in my opinion. I always look forward to my next visit. As with any good restaurant, be prepared to wait for a table during popular eating hours. read more

Upon walking in, the place looks nice. That's why they got a second star. To start, my server was not friendly at all. The ginger salad that came with my meal was below average quality, with watery bland ginger dressing. I ordered the Tuna Tataki for an appetizer, as it looked great in the photo, but what came out was really different. The photo showed nice thick cuts of tuna, paper thin pieces of tuna were what was on my plate. 5 tiny pieces for $11! Then my sushi assortment platter came out. Great food and great service. I should probably add that the food is much better when you dine on vs carry out or delivery. This has nothing to do with the food preparation but just the fact that the food is delivered straight from the wok to your table in the restaurant and has to be boxed up for delivery. read more

We always enjoy our visits to Chopstix. There is a nice warm atmosphere and the servers are friendly and helpful. Some of our favorites are the Vegetable Rice Steamers, Basil Rice plate, and Crab Rangoons. Makes me hungry just writing this! read more

Before COVID-19, I would have given this restaurant five stars but, like so many restaurants, covid has destroyed it. There wonton soup used to be a beautiful broth with a lemony overtone and perfectly seasoned filling wrapped in a delicate noodle. Now it's just some half-assed season pork in a thick over-sized wrapper that is more wrapper than filling - just like you get at any Americanized Chinese restaurant. Their gyoza ( from their Japanese menu) were prefect. Now: just a cheap Chinese potsticker. The Shanghai noodles, once having complex flavors, heavy in curry, are now vermicelli noodles with a sauce predominated by fish sauce. The shrimp in it were rancid. It has been transformed from a excellent restaurant that paid close attention to detail, to your standard cheap Americanized Chinese takeout service, which knows nothing about Chinese cuisine. But their price - unlike their quality - hasn't come down. We just threw out $50 in inedible food. read more
