The is a cool new spot in the summit. It so salad heaven, you can have a traditional cold salad or a hot bowl with greens! They have every combination you can think of. This place is BUSY! But they handle the amount of people really well and quickly. That said, social distancing is almost non-existent. The salads are HUGE. I tapped out halfway through. There are no fountain drinks but there are canned or bottled soft drink options as well as water and tea (with simple syrup available). I ordered and payed online through their website and was able to pick a time when to pick it up, which was convenient. When the order is ready you walk in and the food is brown bagged with your name on it. I had the Southwest Hatch Chile Pork Warm Bowl, but subbed the pork for their chicken. I thought the bowl was very underwhelming and I was unable to finish it. I did not want to even keep it for leftovers. It did not taste fresh to me. I've heard good things about their salads though. So excited to have a Chopt location in Birmingham! I've been waiting for years! I've been to locations in NYC and DC multiple times when traveling, and I think our B'ham location is right in line with my previous experiences! I like to create my own salad so that I know I will enjoy everything on the salad! It was chopped super well! No random large pieces. Very uniform. Their Tex-Mex ranch my favorite. I've never even tried another of their dressings because I can't stop getting that option! Perfect spice level without being overwhelming. I felt like they put the perfect amount of dressing on my salad. Not overdressed, but not dry either. The romaine was crisp and I didn't find even a single piece of bad/wilted lettuce in my salad. I also got black beans, garbanzo beans, crispy onions, corn, olives, feta and pickled onions. SO GOOD! The slice of wheat bread that comes with the meal was just okay, nothing special. Honestly, in the future I probably will just ask for it to not be included with my meal (easy to select this in the app). Ordering on the app was great, especially when doing a create your own. Easy to use and then when my order was ready, they texted me. They have a pick up area so you don't have to wait in line and my bag was clearly marked with my name. I think the wait time was 7 minutes from the time I ordered until it was ready. They have a fantastic patio for outdoor dining as well. I was a little worried based on some other early reviews of this spot that the quality wouldn't be what I was expecting, but my meal was perfect!! I was eager to try this restaurant when I first saw it was opening at The Summit. I ordered ahead on the app and it was ready by the time I got to the restaurant. I got it to-go, so I can't say much about the service or atmosphere inside. I ordered the Santa Fe salad with ranch dressing. I felt like the topping to lettuce ratio was a little off, with way more lettuce than toppings. And I would have preferred more dressing too. Chopt probably needs a little time to get it together. I placed an order online for the Crispy Chicken Ranch salad on the first Sunday afternoon after opening. When placing the order at 12PM, I was told it would be ready in about 50-55 minutes. However I didn't get the text saying my order was ready until around 1:10PM. So just a small additional 15 minutes to the pickup time. When I arrived to pick up my order, the line for dine in was out the door and around the corner a bit - so people are understandably eager to try the restaurant! There was someone at the door telling people when to enter to accommodate COVID capacity limitations who was also handing people their online orders. I told her my order and she quickly brought it back to me. Unfortunately there were a few inconveniences that led me to my 3-star rating. The first thing was the most noticeable. For my salad, I ordered the salad dressing mixed in. When I received the salad, there was no dressing mixed in nor any on the side. So I had to return to the store to notify the employee handing off the orders. I told her that there was no dressing on my salad. She then asked me what salad dressing I had. I informed her it was the Chimichurri Ranch to which she replies that they're out of Chimichurri Ranch and they probably tried to call me to substitute the dressing and I didn't answer (they didn't). So rather than doing an informed substitution on the dressing, they did nothing at all. Anyway I take the one tiny cup of dressing she gave me and went to enjoy the salad. That's when I encountered the next inconvenience. My salad was missing one of the 5 ingredients in it - the peppers. So I had to go back again to request the peppers, in addition to more dressing. The employee brought me back the items as quickly as possible with some additional cookies and bread for my inconvenience. Once I ended up with the salad in its right(-ish) form, it was pretty alright. The serving size is big, it was enough for me to split in two. Once I got all of the mixings in there and the dressing tossed, it had a pretty good taste. I'll look forward to trying them again after this initial opening when they've had a chance to get their operations down a little more smoothly. read more

Chopt was a good salad place. You get a large bowel of salad that is enough for two people or have half for lunch and the other half for dinner. They put plenty of dressing on the salad that it's not dry or to over dressed. I would go back to this restaurant. read more

I love chopt! The salads are huge and come in biodegradable bowls. I got the chose your own with romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, and croutons. Never have I thought that I would be hooked on a restaurant that serves just salads, but here we are. I am not a huge fan of cold foods, so when I saw they had warm bowls, I knew I found my go-to salad spot. I literally came here twice in a 24 hour period. The first time, I had the Mumbai masala bowl. The second time I had the chicken tinga bowl. Both are soooo good and flavorful. I highly recommend the warm bowls of cold foods. If you like your food saucy like I do, be sure to grab an extra sauce. I also like the fact that if you want to cut the calories, you can choose cauliflower rice over the warm grains. read more

I preferred the Mediterranean warm bowl, my husband had the kebab cobb salad (vegetarian), and my grandmother had the NYC street cart salad. I added beets and quinoa to mine bc i hadn't eaten much during the day. Pickup was perfect. Very helpful girl brought out to my car when I called in bc my kids were in the car. I found myself at the Summit around lunchtime today so I figured I'd check out Chopt It was busy--as I said it was lunchtime. If they hadn't been so crowded I'd have taken the time to ask how I could build my own salad. Rather than risk angering the hungry herbivores behind me I ordered the Cobb salad, a bowl of tomato basil soup and a diet coke. If I were at a coffee shop I'd call the guy in front of me a barista, but I don't know what the salad equivalent is. Whatever you call them, I appreciated seeing my lunch being prepared in front me. I knew it was fresh. I could see what went in it, and the condition of the ingredients (nothing looked wilted or stale). And If there was anything I didn't care for I could ask to have it left out. The only thing that confused me was, the way he was layering my cob salad, all the good stuff was at the bottom. He put half an avocado in the bowl---literally, half of fresh, avocado--into the bowl, along with the other ingredients, and then buried the whole thing in salad greens. Lots and lots of greens. I'd need an excavation crew to get to the good stuff, and by the time I ate my way through the lettuce I'd be full. What's the deal? The deal is, I'm an idiot. Once the saladista had all the ingredients in bowl, he dumped it all into a huge metal bowl and proceed to chop the living nevermind out of it. Ahhh. They should probably call this place "We chop up the salads in a big metal bowl" so people like me won't be confused. But that's a lot to put over the door. They could shorten it to something like "Chopt." Oh. Anyway, the saladista asked if I was happy with the recommended dressing or did I want to substitute something else. I was happy with the Bacon Ranch that came with it. He asked if I wanted light dressing, heavy dressing or the regular amount. Salad is a healthier lunch than I'm used to. "Go nuts with the dressing," I told him. Since I ordered soda instead of tea I wasn't given a cup, but a cold can of Diet Coke. I bumped into some friends in line who invited me to join them. Had I known they were going to sit on the patio I would have said I had a doctor's appointment or something, but I'd already accepted their invitation. Air conditioning was invented for me. We sat outside and the seats were comfy even if the sun was blazing. The soup was just soup. I'd be surprised if it was made in house. If it was, they need to up the seasonings. The salad, despite being healthy, was very good, and it was certainly ample. I had more than enough for lunch. I'm noshing on the leftovers as I write this review. I'll be back when it's less busy to try a build your own salad, and to eat it indoors like a civilized person, though to be honest, I'll probably skip the soup next time. read more

You guys need to close a full day for training. My salad wasn't chopped. I've visited this location in many other areas and it's always been fast and pleasant. This place is not fast despite having 8 people behind the counter. They don't chop the salad enough and the three times I've been, no one has known the ingredients without looking multiple times. You guys need to close for training or you'll continue to get less than stellar reviews. The store is also not as clean as other Chopt locations and there was a lady obstructing the line sitting in a chair refilling beverages. Do not recommend. read more

Actually really good salad! I will say that the toppings or mix ins aren't enough for the price you pay. I'll go back because the salads are big enough to actually be filling. Taste is great. I built my own. Just know if you order avocado it's just kinda put in a lump on top.
