    Korean BBQ
    Erica P.

Something I absolutely love? Korean BBQ Something that's good for me that I also really like? Salad. Put them together = Korean BBQ Salad! Sounds weird, but is absolutely delightful! The Korean BBQ Salad here is loaded up with your fave protein (I picked Korean BBQ chicken), fresh greens, wild rice, bean sprouts, mushrooms, carrots, egg...so many good things! If you're looking for a healthy lunch spot that satisfies you with energy for the rest of the day, definitely try this place and the Korean BBQ Salad! They also have kombucha on tap here that is refreshing and gives you that healthy, alcohol-free buzz that gives you a little boost of energy for the rest of your day.

Southwest salad and a custom salad of Kale, quinoa, feta, roasted corn, olives, and sweet potatoes with cucumber tahini yogurt dressing

I have been wanting to try this place for so long. I finally got the chance to yesterday with my friend Bernadette. I love Chopt, so I was intrigued to see if I would like this place better or not. It's located in Lane Parke so very convenient to me and for those that attend X4 or Ignite Cycle to get food after a workout. Bernadette ordered the Southwestern Bowl. I opted to do a create your own salad as it was cheaper at $9.50 a salad. I made my bowl with kale, quinoa, feta cheese, roasted corn, sweet potatoes, and olives. It was finished off with salt, pepper and cucumber tahini yogurt dressing. It was DELICIOUS! It was one of the best meatless salads I've ever had! I would order this combination over and over again. At $9.50, this is a pretty reasonable price for a salad. I have the Chop n Fresh app so I redeemed my $5 reward. My total after tax and tip was about $5.90. Yay! Now there were a few kinks to the visit. The staff was friendly and helpful towards me. My friend however forgot to scan her app to collect points. They said there was no way for her to earn points, but later on I checked her app and found a way she could contact support. Hopefully we can get her some credit towards her next reward. I'm not sure if this is the way, but I have been able to earn points at Chipotle and Taziki's when I contact support. They also unfortunately forgot to ask either of us if we wanted bread. I didn't realize this till later after we had left. I was looking forward to it! It looked like sour dough in the pictures which I am a sucker for! Overall I enjoyed the food I did have, it was just not the perfect experience.

The ingredients are so fresh! We really liked their filing salads and options on the menu. There is limited seating inside but they have tables outside as well. There is a lot of parking in the area as well.

A local fresh salad spot that I would be happy to stop in if I am in the area. Ingredients are fresh and the employees are friendly. The store is well lit with a fair amount of seating. Price is about as expected for the area. I personally like Chopt a touch more, but I do think that's because I am a frequent customer of Chopt and I am used to their menu and options. Objectively I would say they are comparable!

    Sweet Bowl Alabama
    Graeme L.

This place was DELICIOUS! Typically speaking I find kale and salad bowls to be vaguely satisfying but I really only eat them for a healthy meal. However, the Sweet Bowl Alabama was genuinely good! It had a lot of savory, salty elements with the kale, cheese, and chicken, with a nice hints of sweetness too with the vinaigrette and the sweet potatoes. Definitely a good spot if you're looking for a light, healthy meal!

Falafel n love sub with spring greens

Decided to stop by Chopnfresh to give it a try on a Sunday afternoon. The workers are very friendly and helpful, giving their recommendations and letting me know the rundown of how the process works. I ordered the Falafel N Love salad, subbed the kale for spring greens and I added kalamata olives. We also got the Sweet Bowl Alabama. The falafel salad was like a green salad, with feta, tomatoes, cucumber, hummus, etc. it also had baked falafel crumbled throughout as the name suggests. The Sweet Bowl Alabama had kale, wild rice, sweet potatoes, apples, goat cheese, chicken, along with a few other ingredients. They mix the salad in a large bowl for you before serving so that each bite has a good ratio of toppings to lettuce. Over all it was very tasty, but also quite pricey. Our total came out to around $40 with the two salads, two cane sugar sodas, and a tip.

Great fresh salad great quality. Their protein amount they charge is ridiculous needs to be either cheaper or large portion.

That's a huge plus; the number of times I've seen referees having to pass on the side because they didn't have utensils! The entree was a chicken pita. It did have a few fresh onions, but I enjoyed them since I didn't have to be the one dragon breathing around the field all day. We did have a choice of roasted potatoes or basmati rice. The potatoes went much quicker than the rice; I had the potatoes and they were fantastic. There was also a tray of chocolate chip cookies provided. I don't think they were frash made; they looked similar to other restaurants generic chocolate chip cookies. They were a nice addition to the lunch, though. They also provided sweet and unsweet tea in gallon jugs.

They also brought a large side box of chocolate chip cookies that were individually wrapped. Everyone loved the wraps, though the fresh onions were a little rough on some of us. Dinner also come with a salad and a rich aromatic broth to start with. Quite refreshing! Beef kabobs were good, but once we tried the lamb dishes, it paled in comparison... First all of the lamb was SO tender it was all falling off the bone! We did not need any extra seasoning, though if you run on the salty side you may need to request... Then as we were headed out talking to one of our hosts, come to find out the lamb is from a local farmer/rancher, which in this old/ex chefs mind took this to yet another level. I will absolutely be back again and am so mad that I waited so long to try it! Please treat yourself to the local gem!

We were seated pretty quickly but waited about 30 minutes before the server came back to give us menus. He appeared to be the only person working so I tried to cut him some slack but it was another 20-30 minutes before we were even able to place our order. They brought out salad appetizers, which were essentially just fresh-cut lettuce with no dressing or flavor. Our food finally came out after about 45 minutes of waiting. I ordered the Beef Kebob and my husband got the Lamb Mandi. The beef itself was flavorful and tender, but there were only about 4-5 small pieces sitting on top of a huge portion of rice. The rice was bland and dry. The lamb mandi also lacked flavor, and the lamb was very dry and bland as well. Overall, it was a pretty underwhelming experience.

We decided to come on a Friday night I did make reservations beforehand and I highly suggest making them especially on the weekend and you can make them online through their website. On this evening, they had Tyler Giddens playing his keyboard and singing along. He was very good and I was able to chat with his wife and she told me that he plays around town so I definitely look forward to hearing his music again. Fowler was our server and he was very attentive. We started off with the brussels sprouts and the pork belly nachos. They were both equally delicious. Last time I was here I got the chicken tacos and I was so impressed. I got them again. My son got the Mac burger, which he completely devoured. My brother got the short ribs which he enjoyed. He also got a to go Mac burger as well. This time instead of Mississippi mud pie I got the monkey bread which was very delicious and it had apples in it as well. I love how the staff gets to wear whatever they want, and they can express their style. I did visit the restrooms and they were very clean. The only negative is sometimes the parking lot is real busy and if it is, you kinda have to park across the street. It's not a far walk but a lot of the drivers at the Summit area. They tend to drive crazy. I will definitely be back. I haven't had a bad meal here since I've been coming. Not sure why, but it wouldn't let me post any more pictures.

Only took me two years but I finally had a chance to sample!…read more As much as I hated Macaroni Grill leaving, I was excited to hear that Culinary Dropout was going to be in Birmingham. Sharing a parking lot with PF Changs at the Summit, CD has ample parking and right at the corner of 280 and 459 so finding the place would not be a problem. It's actually in a great location at the Summit where you can have a nice meal, then head over to the AMC practically next door for a movie or go shopping at the shops at the Summit. Backed by James Beard-nominated restaurateur Sam Fox, CD now has 13 locations nationwide with this one opening back in March of 2024. Thus, the restaurant looks great with high vaulted ceilings, brick patterned walls and a clean contemporary look with booths and tables scattered throughout. There's a nice large bar that serves beer, wine and cocktails. Above the bar are large screen tvs and to the side is a small carved out area with a small stage for live entertainment. They can entertain group dining and with the tvs, bar and a stage, a nice gathering can be had for all. Outdoor covered seating is also available making a cool weather brunch outside a nice option. Their menu is diverse but comprehensive and include everything sandwiches and soups to pastas and burgers. Some of the stand-outs on their menu include Detroit Pizza, Fried Chicken, Rainbow Trout, Roasted Salmon, Beer Battered Fish & Chips, Korean Style Ribeye, Meatloaf and 36 Hour Slow Roasted Pork Ribs marinated in jalapeno BBQ sauce. One of my favorites was the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue starter that I had heard so much about. The bowl of round pretzel balls coated with just the right amount of salt arrived soon after our drinks. A small little cast iron bowl filled with provolone cheese rested on a base with a tea light underneath to keep the cheese warm. Tearing open a pretzel ball, dipping in the cheese... Yom Yom Yom Yom! Our table ordered Fish & Chips, Prime Rib Dip sandwich and Fried Chicken. I tried some of Jeff's beer battered fish. Fried to a beautiful golden brown, the crispy batter hid a tender, flaky cod (I believe) that was delicious. Tammy got the prime rib dip sandwich. It arrived with a small cup of au jus, fries and a slice of pickle. Tammy enjoyed her sandwich but wished there was a little more fontina cheese and horseradish creme fraiche. I sampled the fried chicken plate. Be ready to get messy with your hands because it normally consists of a leg, thigh and half of a breast. The nicely fried seasoned breaded exterior had just the right crunch revealing steaming juicy chicken underneath. Yom Yom Yom Yom. My buttermilk biscuit had a nice golden coat with a soft fluffy center. The coleslaw was also delicious. But my mash potatoes with gravy was dry. If we had received our meal 10 mins earlier, it would've been perfect. I suspect that our four top was left under the warming lamp a little too long before it was served. Prices have a wide range from 12 to 42. CD's ability to make a reservation online is a big plus. We were able to make a reservation the day of on a busy holiday weekend. It also happened to be storming during our visit and the lights even flickered for a second resetting their Direct TV and FIFA Soccer feeds, but we were fortunate that the restaurant and kitchen didn't have to close due to a power failure. It can get loud especially if they have live entertainment. The high ceiling helps with the high decibels, but CD may not be your spot for a quiet romantic dinner unless you're in one of their private rooms. Our server Eva was very attentive and never let our drinks get too low. Even the floor manager Taylor stopped by our table to welcome us. CD is a great place for a good time. They host live music, local bands, games, private dining and group celebrations. I look forward to returning and trying the Salmon next time. Welcome to Birmingham, Culinary Dropout!
