Went here to meet a friend from Selma. This was his favorite restaurant. Service is great. It was like stepping into a time capsule, most of the original decor was still up. After visiting multiple times and enjoying the food I was very disappointed the last time me and my guest went to eat . I ordered a combo plate and my guest ordered a chicken chop suey After eating a bit I noticed what tasted like something stale and very unpleasant We couldn't finish the meal.. Finally the waitress, a young lady with tattoos on her arms came over to ask how was everything . I wasn't going to make a big deal about it but I knew I had to say something out of duty and responsibility. After all it was getting close to closing time and we thought maybe the food they served us was the stuff that was left over. I told her that it did taste 'weird ' like a gassy flavor . She immediately went into a whole different attitude and I think it was because she thought I didn't want to pay?? I don't know but her face and attitude changed accused us of not saying anything to her before and saying she had come by our table several times and we never mentioned anything to her..which was a total fabrication because she never did come to check on us to even see if we needed more water! I said I wasn't trying to get out of paying , that I was going to pay but o was hoping maybe we could work something out with the total amount we were going to pay. She refused to listen anymore and said she would have to call management as to which I responded there was no need to anything like that that I was going to pay And she just waved her hand very upset and walked away to speak to the cook I guess . We waited until she came out and very rudely told us we could leave ...I said i wanted to pay but she was so upset she just waved us off like we were some kind of trash. I will never go there again . One more thing about that place is you have to wait a long time before you get served and even to get your menu then the food takes forever to come out after which it's already gotten cold . I don't recommend this kitchen read more

I used to go to Cho's Kitchen almost every Sunday after church a long time ago. The food was consistent almost every time. Once in a great while we would get some food that wasn't all that great. Anyway, after almost 6 years of not going I went and paid the old traditional place a visit and it was good but not great. In the 6 years I have had some amazing Chinese food and have been to places that blew me the heck away. The restaurant itself is run down. It's very old and a few things have been updated but it needs some updating and upgrading. Eva has been working there for a very long time. She looks so tired now and lacks a lot of patience. I'll stick to the new places that I've come across these years and pass this place up. Sorry, not sorry. read more

We did take out as I wasn't feeling well. We walked in around 3:30. The place was empty, and a women greeted us very warmly. We stayed soup to go and she asked the kind and it would be 10 minutes. Before we left a couple pulled in and the dinner crowd started to arrive. Easy to find, uncomplicated parking lot. Very convenient. Best Chinese food in Selma! Nothing fancy, just great tasting food and super awesome service. This place has been around for over 50 years! I love the staff, the pan fried noodles and very best egg foo yung and sauce. I keep it simple with pan fried noodles, fried rice, egg foo yung , plate #7 other ppl swear by the Chinese chicken salad, this really good and big soup, and ppl really like shrimp too. RETRO CHINESE-AMERICAN FOOD This is not the most authentic Chinese restaurant but it was my first exposure to Chinese food when I was a child so its appeal is purely nostalgic now. Pork Chow Mein, Fried Rice, and Fried Shrimp They have the most unusual chow mein that is covered with a gloopy bean sprout, celery, and onion paste. It does not look appetizing but there is some strange alchemy that takes place when it is mixed with the unique tasting fried noodles. Somehow it all works. We were on the road and needed to stop for lunch, so we decided to try this place out. I knew it wouldn't be authentic Chinese food, but I'm not Chinese, so that doesn't bother me. As long as it is tasty food, I'm OK with it. My husband ordered pork foo young. He's the one who is picky about Chinese food since he lived in China for a few years. He liked his dish. I ordered a shrimp curry dish. It was HUGE, and it was bland. There weren't many shrimps in it either. I ended up trying to throw Chinese mustard in it to spice it up. It didn't do much good. Then I tried throwing in some Tapatio hot sauce. That was worse because that didn't have any kick to it. I ended up using as much of the Chinese mustard as possible to give it some zest since the chef obviously doesn't eat any spice. The food must be decent since I saw several people pick up their called-in take-out orders. A few of them were Asians, so either I ordered the wrong dish, or they do not eat spicy food. (Most Chinese do not eat spicy food unless they are from the Sichuan or Hunan province.) Since I require some level of spice to my food, I would not return to this place, although my husband liked his dish enough. I guess the magic is to order a dish that tastes OK without any spice added to it, like his pork foo young, which I thought tasted OK. My rating: two stars. read more

Horrible! We decided to eat here after hearing that it was a good place. No! There was a party of 5. Not bad right? Well, we started to order and were told that we had to order something else because they were out of what we ordered! It was only 6:30 in the evening! So we ordered something else and the server was rude and said "Now we are going to be low on that product". No one was getting what they wanted anyway, so we ordered extra eggrolls and the server said "No, I need to save them for other orders" What?! Customer Service? No! If I come in when you open and order every eggroll you have, I am a paying customer. Apologize to the customer that don't get one! The saving grace was the "hostess". We decided to go somewhere else and were going to pay for our drinks but she said "Don't worry about it" and apologized for the inconvenience. Will not go back! read more

Found a hidden gem!! Met the owner recently and had to try it out... And let me tell you.. Food was great!! Since we are from the Bay Area.. We have pretty high standards .. The place is as good now as it was when it opened 50 years ago, and astonishing value for money. If you go expecting something other than the generic Chinese food every small town in America had in days gone by, you'll be disappointed. However, if your taste buds wish to be dosed with a little nostalgia, you'll love it here. inexpensive meals, positive experience while waiting for lunch order and wait wasn't very long. pan fried noodles were okay as was the orange chicken breading. food was decent but i have had better, not sure if this is the standard in selma. the orange chicken breading was good but the portion was small and lacked sauce. the fried rice also wasnt my favorite. the building appeared run down from the outside but was okay within. overall i would eat there again only because of convenience and cost but would first look to see if there are other places nearby that are better. read more
