Some comments were negative for this review on Yelp but I found that the selection of food was very good. Our party of 15 seniors had no complaints. I went here yesterday (1/25/24) for a family function and to say I was utterly disgusted and disappointed would be extremely on point. The food is not the same as it used to be. It has drastically changed and although the new selections may be appealing, they certainly do not taste as good as they look. I was really looking forward to some of their original dishes like the pan fired crispy noodles, the China garden ribs, the mini pumpkin pies, and the salad bar with better selections. The service kept messing up on drink refills and at one point they gave up visiting our section. The table was really sticky and the silverware was old and outdated. What broke the straw on the camels back was that my son came to me and whispered in his ear that a cockroach just walked across the table. Eeeek!!! Skip this place. China Garden is a perennial fave in the S county. It changed hands about a year ago. To be honest, there was a lurch after. Happily, within a month, the new owners got up to speed. Different but quite good. This is primarily a buffet but I'm pretty sure they can dig up a menu. Highlight are: Broccoli Beef, Shrimp with Zucchini, BBQ Pork, Lo Mein, Honey Chicken and a personal fave, Green Beans. I have Lunch here with my Bros once a week. There is a such a good (but not overwhelming) selection of dishes, I don't tire of it. Also has Soups and a non-raw Sushi bar. When you want simple and consistent Chinese food this is the place to go. It's an all you eat buffet. Warm friendly greeting to sit you. I love the fact they had fresh sushi on buffet, which consisted of three different types. Fried rice was favorably along with the chow mein. In our visit there was five different chicken dishes, barbecue style on a stick, spicy orange chicken which outstanding, so tasty with small amount of kick, green beans were fresh and crispy. They had fried shrimp with jalapeño, and broccoli beef. Let's put this I enjoyed the food so much I had five plates. Then topped off with their soft served ice cream. I've been choosing China garden several times over other restaurants, Hoping they would somehow go back at least close to what it use to be. Today 6-8-25 , after over 20 years of liking this place, we are giving up! Food still decent but service is horrible! They have hired unprofessional, immature , teenagers to be the hosts. They did not wanted to attend to our request to get a different table noting that it would be too hard for "them" and an inconvenience for "them" to keep track on drinks already order and an inconvenience for "them" to move people around. I told the family to go somewhere else but part of the family really wanted to eat there. To repeat, food it's still decent, it seems that kitchen stays busy and tries to keep buffet full, floor are dirty, tables are sticky. Our take is that language barrier really separates the kitchen from the front end. It didn't use to be like that with original owners. People at the front of these restaurants talk about other costumers coming inside the restaurant in front and around other costumers as if they are venting or perhaps they think they are in their own small social media group that no one else reads or likes! Too bad that after all these years we will have to stop giving our business and letting our friends and family to consider other options to this restaurant but, it's just not what it use to be and it doesn't seem that they care to make it any better or to listen to "the costumer". read more

Positive visit and eating experience on a weekday in April. I had not been to China Garden in over 20? years, I remember there was jello and ice cream so it was an epic dining experience at age 10! Lol! Now to the current review: clean and organized buffet restaurant. Nothing fancy and it doesn't seem that the new owner has changed the decor or layout. I recommend dining in for lunch, not sure what drink options they have other than soda if you came for dinner. Other reviewers mentioned not many meat options, but there were plenty imo at 11:30 on a Thursday. I stopped in to wish my grandma a happy bday-15 or so family members were eating together there but I couldn't stay the whole time. They are great for big groups ! Basic pizza available for little ones or if you really want pizza. My to go plate was $12.99 very reasonable. The food portions to go were extremely small. Absolutely disappointing. I used to love this place now it resembles nothing of what it was. The rice tasted so dry and like instant rice/ Mexican food. Got pan fried noodles that were like dissolved and maybe one spoon full amount. The orange chicken was the only thing I did enjoy. Good fresh food. They keep on bringing out fresh food, nothing is sitting in the tray for long. I love their Chinese food, American food and Japanese good. Chinese food is very authentic. As I was walking in the decor was different. Then we went to the buffet.... Let's say there were more vegetables than protein. What little fish there was was all dried up. There was fried rice my hubby ate it. The food was terrible. Everything I used to eat there was not. I got some chow mein, 2 pot stickers, a small peice of fish, a bowl of soup. I have never had such greasy pot stickers in my life. The chow mein left alot to be desired. And how the heck do you mess jello up. It was chewy, not like jello jugglers but fruit bits chewy. We spent $39 there and all I had was Pepsi. While paying a couple came just 15 minutes before and they were paying before us. He was questioning the guy at the register about the old owners and the food. We then paid and I told him what happened to the food? We paid for food I didn't even eat. He said you didn't eat your food and I said no it was terrible! As we went outside the other couple stopped us and said I guess we're not coming back my husband said neither are we. I usually enjoy going there. The food is good and pleasing but last night it was a different story. Half way through dinner we noticed a dead fly "inside" the soy bottle. Naturally since we (four of us) had all used that bottle we were sick. The waitress just said I'm sorry and got us a new bottle as if nothing was wrong. No compensation was offered, no offer to replace our food which was covered with the dead fly soaked soy sauce. We just paid our bill and left. Granted something like that can happen but it's how you handle it that makes a terrible situation into an acceptable one. This restaurant needs to learn they have a responsibility to make their facility pleasing and when something that gross is found, they need to do everything they can to turn your distaste around. read more

This is a really great place for Chinese food. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that sometimes the service is not great. Otherwise, the food is fantastic consistently. Note: if you check in using the yelp app I was offered 10% off the buffet for up to 4 people. Because I am a vegetarian, going to Chinese food with my family can be difficult. This menu has great options though.
