TERRIBLE!! Beware of this place..I had a dreadful experience…read morehere. They are rude and abrupt..I felt like they were xraying my wallet as soon as I walked in! I had found this place online and requested by email a test drive for a car I was interested in. Next day, they replied, telling me the car was available with a nice invitation for a test drive. I called them twice, to set the time. Both times a man with a thick accent answered. I could bearly understand him..but agreed to come over after work for a test drive at 5pm. In my opinion, they should hire a receptionist who can speak clearly. That should have alerted me about this low class operation, but I soldiered on! Unfortunately it got worse...much worse. When I arrived he introduced himself as the owner. The facilty was a dump. It was dirty, with sandwiches lying around on the desk with flies on them. This did not give a favorable impression. Again I should have left..but I really wanted to buy this car. The car was blocked in on a severly overcrowed postage stamp size lot, with lots of older model dirty cars, all around it . This "owner" knew exactly which car I was interested in, and it was blocked in as he had made no preparation to have it out and ready for a test drive. I said I knew the car and just wanted to see how it ran...to which he said "Do you have the money to buy it today?'. It is amazing to me that this person is in business, talking like that to new customers. He actualy said "i am not going to get it out unless you commit to buy it" Then he proceeded to insult me by saying that I had a foreign accent and should go back where I came from.!!! This is a joke..as all I said was that I am also looking at some other cars this week. Needless to say I left after that, without even driving the car. If it is true and this person is really the owner, as he said he was. This business is in serious trouble . This is far and away my worst car buying experience. The price was firm, which means that they advertise a fair price to start and you don't have to haggle for a deal, which is refreshing. I don't want to waste hours going back and forth to buy a car. We were trying to get our 2012 MDX to pass the smog test and had officially entered the "googling theories and spiraling" phase when we found him. Instead of guessing or selling us a bunch of unnecessary repairs, Mats actually took the time to figure out what was going on, explained everything in a way normal humans can understand, and got us pointed in the right direction. Turns out there was a reason our car was being dramatic. He was knowledgeable, honest, patient, and never made us feel silly for asking a million questions (which... there were). They're often paid for, they're completely fake,…read morethey don't represent an actual customer experience with the business, and as a result they're often completely unhelpful. So when I (almost never) give out a 5-star Yelp review, it's because that business exceeded all of my expectations. It's truly deserved and sincerely earned. Practically any auto repair shop can do the basics at a competent level. The oil changes, the coolant flushes, the brake jobs, etc. But it's the rare auto repair shop owner/mechanic that demonstrates creative problem-solving abilities outside the norm, listens to a customer's problem that isn't something they come across every day or week, and possesses the experience and expertise to tackle that problem head-on without holding onto the vehicle for days just to futz around. Mats at Karsten Imports is at a level above the rest. An honest expert whose abilities are beyond reproach, superior communication skills compared to a lot of mechanics for whom English isn't a first language (this really does matter a lot.) He'll even talk you OUT of some repairs if he doesn't think they're truly necessary. It's not an accident that so many other Yelp reviews for Karsten Imports praise Mats for his honesty and integrity. That's not something you'll find to be the case with too many other auto repair businesses.

I delivered the car with an agreement that when I returned from vacation a week later it would be ready: it was. Immediately upon arrival, the staff was professional, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Ed showed me exactly what the problem was, explained what needed to be done, and helped me understand what had happened. Ed communicated with me throughout the day to give me updates on the battery issue that he had resolved, and to kindly let me know that it would be a good idea to get my brakes replaced and my oil changed in the near future. Let me be abundantly clear when I say that this was IN NO WAY him trying to up-sell his services. There was no implication that I had to have these services performed at his shop. My brakes had been squeaky for some time now, and I hadn't had an oil in change in many months, so I knew that he was right. I appreciated him taking the time be so thorough and see if my car needed anything else. To have all this accomplished at a one stop shop was tremendous weight off my shoulders and saved me a lot of time. From the outside of this business, you can see that they have plenty of business and many happy customers. I trusted Ed to take care of the brakes and oil change per his recommendation, and I could not be happier with the results. My car is running smoothly, and to top it all off, they were able to do ALL THESE THINGS FOR ME with a moments notice in less than one work day. I picked up my car the same day I dropped it off. I am certainly no car expert, so through the day I was speaking with my father to see if he agreed with the diagnoses on my car. He not only agreed with everything that Ed had told me, but made note that the products he was using were of high quality, and that I had been given an incredibly reasonable rate for the entire service. My father was so impressed that he himself plans to use this auto body shop in the future even though he lives in Orange County. We met with Jose and from the start, he made us feel comfortable. He didn't use any high pressure sales tactics and didn't play and games. He was direct and was very detailed in explaining the whole process. He broke the transaction down very simply so my daughter could understand and even went like by line to show us all the costs associated with the vehicle purchase. There were no extra fees like the other dealerships which kept the car affordable for my daughter. He saw a small crack on the inside of the front windshield and said it would be replaced the next day. I was expecting that he would try and sell it as is but he has it repaired and even emailed a picture of the completed repair. From start to finish, we were extremely pleased with the process and decided to purchase the car. We would definitely come back in the future and would recommend them to friends and family.
