This huge place has an almost overwhelming variety of choices, all of them mediocre. I've been here twice but have decided that I won't be back for another try. We were seated promptly on both visits, and the wait staff are very pleasant and helpful. I'm a big fan of most types of Asian food, but I didn't find anything here that was outstanding. Some of the dishes were very cold, as if they had been made in advance, refrigerated, and then reheated for the serving line. I can understand why they would do this, given the huge number of dishes on offer. Still, $42 for 2 people (including soft drink and a tip) seems a bit much for what you get. read more

ABOUT TIME FOR CHOW TIME | I am not a buffet girly, at least not anymore. I just can't eat my money's worth like I could when I was younger and it felt like my stomach was a bottomless pit. However, with restaurant prices rising the way they have been, I'm not mad at Chow Time at all. I appreciated during the first months of re-opening after COVID, gloves and masks were provided (and strictly encouraged). From hibachi to sushi to seafood to hot food to dessert, I don't think you could leave Chow Time hungry. And you're also not going to break the bank and feel like you're not eating your money's worth like you would at a more "luxurious" buffet. While prices have risen over time, I do think it's still remained affordable in a time where eating out has been outrageously overpriced. Definitely great for big groups and picky eaters - Chow Time! The absolute standard in the Chinese buffet game in Tally. The price!? The price!? Can't be beat. For about $20 a plate they have Sushi, fried crab, shrimp, crawfish, and American-style Chinese food like general Taos and teriyaki chicken. The sushi is actually really, really good. Great big prawns in the cold seafood area, and excellent mussels. Could come here just for this. The crawfish are another reason alone just to come here and chow down on some crayfish. They even have the obligatory "Chinese-buffet pizza". Which is a clutch tradition. Not a place to bring people to impress. More a place to come have some peak shameless chow-time action, and crush some sushi. Staff is attentive and always quick to help you fill a drink. You'll need it too, while you focus on powering through some competitive eating debauchery! I really like this place. You might feel like you've done something dirty after you leave. Been there. Done that. It was okay. It's a large Asian buffet with some American food thrown in for the the less adventurous eaters. Lots of choices including hibachi and sushi. Food was kept replenished and fresh looking. Plenty of seating for lots of people. Service was ok although nobody refilled my tea while I was there but they did clear away that empty plate. They have somebody replenishing dishes who must be hearing impaired because it sounded like they were pouring dishes on the floor when they did their work. It's noisy anyway but when that happens it's downright unsettling. Lunch price is a thoroughly modern $15 with drink and tax. Plus a tip will be expected. read more

Every time I do this, I'm enjoying it and then afterwards, the guilt hits. I just love a Chinese buffet so much and yes, I make healthy choices, avoiding the noodles and the sweet sauces and the fried. It is possible to do well here, as they have a nice selection of sushi. Yes, there is the usual fried and sauced stuff, but you can absolutely pick around that and get some protein. The buffet line was clean, the young lady who refilled my glass was polite and took away dirty dishes quickly. And they had disposable gloves on the buffet line. It was a good meal. Amazing selection! We loved all of the food. The sushi was amazing. There were soups and all things Chinese buffet available.

Me and my family are visiting Tallahassee and decided to eat here for dinner. The food was great and it's not too expensive. The service was good, and the ambiance was ok. The only thing I really didn't like was the cleanliness. Around the food was dirty and the bathroom trash cans were overflowing with toilet paper and dirty feminine products. read more

Lots of options for all kinds of Asian food. The food wasn't bad, but not great either. I had a few peel and eat 'em shrimp and they tasted fine. We liked the teriyaki chicken. Fried rice was not good. My kid liked the sushi. The ice cream and pudding stations are gross. The old desserts are just dumped on top of the fresh versions. Very unappetizing. The dining room is not the best. The carpet is dirty and stained and the chairs and tables are worn. The clientele seems to value quantity over quality. Do you want Sushi? Traditional American Asian cooked foods? American dishes? Hibachi cooking at the ready? Chow Time has it all! My dining companion and I have taken many guests with us since this location opened. Often folks will say they don't want to go to a buffet because there is too much food. Ok, don't each too much food. No one is forcing you! Chow Time caters to many different tastes. And for those guest that insist if they go to a regular sit down order off the menu restaurant, they will spend less. I doubt it. It is roughly the same price as a single menu option at a similar sit down restaurant. Back to Chow Time, there is nearly always a table for 2 or 4 available. Larger parties may have to wait, but probably not long. We have dined here with as many as 10 and the table wait was as long as it took for staff to put the necessary tables together. There is ample parking in the front or on the side of the restaurant. Staff routinely fill up the serving trays, which has always signaled to me that the food is fresh and there is high turnover of customers and food options. The variety of sushi offerings cannot be beat for the price of the buffet! In all the visits, I have never tasted sushi that wasn't anything but fresh. Highly recommend if you are a sushi fan. I will say that the Asian foods seem to be the draw. There are baked fish options and several American food options, but they don't seem to be as popular and probably continue to cook in their trays. On a recent Friday evening, I found cooked shrimp, peel and eat shrimp, coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, and at least one other shrimp option. If you like shrimp, you'll get your fill! My favorites include the sushi, cooked shrimp, steamed green beans, steamed dumplings, lo mein, egg rolls, cinnamon sugar donut, salt & pepper chicken, pepper steak and coconut shrimp. There is also a soup, salad bar and cold fruit station that seems useful, but they don't seem to be popular as the hot options. The hibachi station is great and there are raw proteins and fresh veggies, staff will cook up for you on the spot. Our finished plates were promptly removed. Our drinks were promptly refilled. This isn't a restaurant to strike up a long conversation with your server, but they get the job done. The one area that needs improvement is the ice cream station. They offer 8 large containers of ice cream and I think there are duplicates of 4 options, vanilla, chocolate, sherbet mix and one other. The problem is once the containers get to a certain point, they require you to roll up your sleeves, or not, and bend over the freezer case to scoop your ice cream. Those vertically challenged patrons really have to bend over and despite best efforts some emerge with ice cream all up and down their sleeves and cuffs, especially children. I have been to other buffets that have simply moved to self-serve soft ice cream or prepacked cups of ice cream, leaving less clean up necessary. If you don't want to wait for a table at a traditional sit down restaurant, don't want to wait to order your meal, and don't want to wait for food to be cooked, Chow Time ticks all the boxes! Like what's wrong with being nice to people, it was no reason to be rude. Now if I would've snatched my card back then I would've been the problem. Chow Time is your average buffet in my opinion. I enjoyed most everything I tried and they seem to keep everything fully stocked and flowing. I really enjoyed the chicken options. I think the pineapple and pepper chicken were my favorites! They also have tons of fish option, fried foods, salad and dessert bar as well as sushi and other options. The desserts left much to be desired, but the mint chocolate chip ice cream was so good! Our waiter was adorable. Super sweet and attentive. They require gloves while you are serving yourselves, but I don't think masks are required. They also have two go boxes that vary with price based on weight. read more

I have eaten real Asian food at restaurants in the Orient. This place leaves a lot to be desired: to start with the food was barely warm, and the taste was OK but the chicken was a tad tough. I tried a bit of all the meats and I was not impressed with any of them. On the bright side, our waitress was excellent, she was very friendly and did a most excellent job, I left a 20% tip only for her, now being that it was on my card let's see if she gets it. Anyone who loves buffets (like I do) knows what they're signing up for. This place was pretty clean and the food I tried was great for the price. Went at around 4 pm on a weekday and it was $16.99 before the tip. There were signs up asking patrons to wear plastic gloves and wear masks before taking items from the buffet. No one, not even staff were doing this, so maybe management just hadn't bothered to take these signs down since relaxing Covid protocols. read more

First visit. Sunday night 7pm. Pretty crowded, but the place is huge! We were greeted immediately, who ended being our server, and sat immediately. VERY CLEAN. A nice touch at the plate bin were gloves you can wear to obtain you plate, and to use when using the tongs. Nice way to keep the germs down. 5 stars for that one. Before laying into the food, I walked around to check out the food. Salad, soup, sushi, hibachi to order, and large variety of food. I tried the won ton soup, it was good, but nothing to brag about. I passed on the salad. I tried various items, including the sushi, all were good for a buffet. I didn't try the hibachi, next time. I noticed they we're constantly refilling the items, including the sushi. In conclusion I read numerous reviews about service and confrontation over tipping. The bill will give you various options, including giving a custom tip. I don't care if its a buffet or not, I start at 20% and go up or down. I gave 20%. Our server kept us in tea, asked how everything was, and kept the table clear. The server didn't even know what we left for a tip by the time we had already exited the building. My family and I have visited Chow Time twice now. Finding a parking space during lunchtime is probably the biggest issue. The spots also seem to be meant mostly for smaller vehicles. Inside, I was shocked and surprised both by the size of the buffet, as well as the extremely low price. You can't beat the incredible selection. They have a sushi bar, hibachi, three very long rows of hot dishes, a wall for salad, and another wall for deserts and soups. You can find just about anything that you'd like to eat from kimchi to pizza. The servers were not very interactive, although there was really no more interaction than filling drinks and removing plates. The only two negatives for me were the bathrooms needed a quick cleaning (but to be fair it was after a super busy lunch rush). And there was one other customer on my last visit who was a bit rude and inappropriate, however, that was by no means the fault of the buffet. I was on my way out, so I didn't mention it to the staff. Overall it's my new favorite Tallahassee buffet. We plan to visit anytime we are on that side of town. read more

Well I wasn't sure if they would still be as good as they were when they opened, but they are doing great!!! The hibachi chefs deliver a perfectly cooked dish every time. All of the buffet tables are kept exceptionally clean and face masks and gloves are enforced. We arrived at 5:30 in a Sunday evening and it was very very busy so I will not say they are enforcing the 6ft rule! Great service, great selections. Mediocre Chinese Buffet Nobody got sick from eating it as far as we know. We ordered water to drink and never saw the server again. Had to beg for refill of water and never got anymore. There were 6 of us, so they added an additional 15% mandatory gratuity.
