I called ahead to place an order for a lunch pickup and the man who answered the call started to take my order and suddenly hung up on me when I attempted to call back he kept forwarding my call to voicemail. My wife has been jones-ing to try this place for several months and tonight we finally pulled the trigger. She had read a bunch of good reviews from neighborhood groups on Facebook. And more importantly she also saw a note that the owner leaves blankets out for homeless. Sound like good people so we had to give it a try. Did not disappoint.... The cream cheese puffs (crab rangoon) were perfect - crispy outside and delicious creamy goodness on the inside. I had the Tangy Spicy Chicken with white rice and extra veggies. Very tasty and a tad bit spicier than I anticipated but not in a bad way. The wifey went with General Tso's Chicken with veggie fried rice and a vegetable egg roll. She was very satisified but also noted that it was spicier than she anticipated as well. Also said "the egg roll ain't got nothing compared to China Garden's". Ordering online and pickup was smooth. We also ordered General Tso Shrimp and they were pretty good. Finally we had ribs and shrimp fried rice, the ribs were hard and over cooked. Past by this stop all the time and I decided to stop by. First red flagged raised was I wanted to substitute the rice for more vegetables and they said it will be two dollars more. I was forced to just get the rice or I'd have to pay more for any substitutions which doesnt make them very flexible for a very simple request. Second flag raised was I ordered orange juice and I got orange sunkist. Now i am not that critical so i wasn't mad about that. The thing i was mad about is she said the price difference from a can of sunkist soda to an orange juice was $1.50. The thing that saved this review was the food. I was on Westheimer leaving Aldi looking for some good Chinese food. This place popped up on yelp. This place is in a small shopping center and if you blink, you'll miss it. I got general tso chicken, white rice, egg rolls and house lo mein. Everything was delicious! The tso chicken was fresh and perfectly sauced and TENDER. I loved the lo mein too. We ordered shrimp lo mein and was so bland and has nearly no veggies or shrimp. Also ordered gerenal tso chicken. It was bland and chicken was actually still a bit pink inside. The side of fried rice could barely be called fried rice. It was just rice with soy sauce. I've honestly made better fried rice at home and I'm not at all a great Asian food cook.
