We found Cumin on some food blog online and decided to give it a try - and were not disappointed! We came in right after opening (noon) and the restaurant was empty, but throughout the course of our meal two or three parties came and went. Owner explained that the place gets crowded around dinner time on the weekdays and during lunchtime on the weekends. Immediately after being seated, the owner himself (incredibly friendly!) came to greet us and chat with us about our stay in Toronto, and personally took our orders for the table. Between 6 people, we each ordered one entrée and two appetizers which was just a bit too much for us all to finish - but it was great to try a bit of everything. Throughout our meal, the owner came to chat with us and we made great conversation about the food and our trip. We were able to customize the spice level for each of our dishes according to our tastes, and honestly everything turned out great and was super tasty. Probably one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to! The place itself is well decorated, tastefully modern and very clean. The portions may look small but do not be fooled. There are also plenty of options if you are vegetarian as well. They also are licensed to sell alcohol as well. Service wise, staff try to be accommodating as best they can and food usually arrives at a reasonable time, even if you are coming as a big party.
