We had never heard about this winery nor did we plan…read moreto visit this space while in the Willamette Valley; but fortunately, we randomly found out about it and were so glad to check it out on a Sunday afternoon. There are so many different wineries around the Willamette Valley, so it's difficult to choose where to go. And of course, the most popular ones will likely be booked up. But my partner found Coeur de Terre and made a reservation for us to visit this winery in the late afternoon, which ended up being a delightful experience. The vineyard is located far from the city, up on a hill, surrounded by other vineyards and orchards. Just the setting itself is worth visiting. The winery with its own vineyard is spacious, with a large, open building that's open for the public. However, where you want to sit is outside on the patio, which overlooks the hills and vineyard. We had a reservation for 4PM on a Sunday, which was the last hour before closing. We tried six different wines: a chardonnay, pinot gris, rose, syrah and two pinot noirs. Now, we came to Oregon wine country because we wanted to explore pinot noirs, which is king in this part of the country. And I can say that the pinot noirs at Coeur de Terre were solid. I normally would not choose a pinot noir, but Coeur de Terre made me a believer. They grow all of their grapes here at the vineyard, and what I liked most about the pinot noirs is that they were more robust than other pinot noirs I've had. I like my reds more bold and heavy, and these pinot noirs were heavier. We had a wonderful experience here, exploring the pinot noirs and taking in the views and setting. The employee who helped us out was friendly, too. I recommend visiting if you're in the area. Tasting is $25 per person, and is waived with a $75 bottle purchase per person.

My wife and I saw a two-piece band setting up for their performance through the window, and decided to pop in for a glass (or two) and some live entertainment. We were warmly welcomed into this classy (seeminly family run) little space, ordered a chardonnay (I didn't catch the name), Rose of Tempranillo (which my wife liked so much, she ordered one for herself afterward), and the Gewurstraminer (which ended up being my favorite). All the while, we were engaged and entertained by the two members of the band, who were amused by our toddler's sons utter fascination with them and their music. Big thanks to both of them, and the owners of Pinot Vista, for allowing and taking pleasure in our son's wanderings and exploration! He was enraptured! Such a relaxing environment, couple with some wonderful wine, beautiful music, and spending time with family without any responsibilities or expectations, is the perfect way to spend a Saturday evening, and I can't imagine many better places in McMinnville than here at Pinot Vista! We will definitely be back, the next time we find ourselves in town.

We had a great time here, and while most the family does not drink a lot of wine, there was something for everyone here. The owner, David, greeted us as we walked in and sat us at the large table in this small tasting room. He sat with us for most of the tasting, describing the wines in detail, telling us the history, describing how the land around Oregon varies and how it impacts the wine. It was really interesting and he so helpful and open to answering all of our questions. You can tell how knowledgeable and passionate he is about his wines and he made our experience really unique. The wines themselves were great, and we left purchasing 2 bottles of the 5 wines we tried. While they have a variety of wines, their white wines, especially the Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Blanc, were phenomenal and I highly recommend. The tastings are really reasonably priced at $25 and their bottles were also well priced. The tasting room itself is very laid back and casual. It is decorated and feels as if you are just sitting in a relatives living room enjoying a glass of wine, so if you are looking for the instagram shot of a glass of wine over a vineyard during a sunset, this is not the place, but if you enjoy kicking back and enjoying solid wine in a more laid back setting with folks who care about their wines, then look no further!

Since my sister and I are not huge Pinot fans, our tasting was geared around whites and roses. All of the wine we tasted was delicious! We were not that familiar with Oregon wines, but found these to be full bodied, with great aromas and wonderful finishes. The location is out of the way and sits up on a hill. You also have the option of staying at the Black Walnut Inn at the vineyard, or the Grange, which is more upscale and offered to Foley members. We did not stay here, but would consider it next time. Our only complaint was that we arrived in early August, and the wildfires in Oregon and Washington affected the air quality and the views. We are likely to go back at a different time of year when that isn't likely to be happening next time.

There is no deal I need or anything I need bad enough. That said this seemed like a great alternative. Their tasting is $8 this includes 5 wines to taste and they also brought us a little plate of olives, crackers and almonds. We purchased one wine which waive one of our tasting fees. I have to say I really loved all their wines. When you walk in their tasting area may seem a little primitive and not as fancy as some you see in places in the McMinnville AVA, however, the service was great and friendly. The server indicated that had just recently been bought out by Union wines which produces Underwood wine and is based out of Tualatin. This must have been a real recent purchase as neither of their websites reflect that. All in all a good solid group of reds and whites. Stop by and give them a try. I know I'll be back again.

They also had a sweet "Wedding Song Riesling" which was my 2nd favorite. My friend enjoyed the Eco-Wine Pinot Noir, which was what she bought. The tasting fee was incredible, I think it was like $5 for 8 or 10 tastes. I lost track of how many tastes we had. And then they waived our tasting fee as well. I had so much fun and had such a great time at this winery! Out of all the wineries we went to in the Salem area, this was definitely my favorite. And the staff was super informative. They were so friendly and nice, very helpful. Not only that but one of there wine specialists was super hot too! Nice eye candy :)
