I was searching for chiropractors that take Kaiser and I found Dr. MacChesney. I went to him on and off for back pains and sciatica. I used to love doing workouts like Insanity and similar vigorus excercise routines. But took a long break after having twins. When I started working out again, I foolishly thought I could just pick up where I left off. My body totally disagreed. When I first went to him I had to go 3x times a week and over a couple months went down to going once every 2 weeks or so. Then I pretty much just went I needed a little tune up. He was always very professional and personable. My kids loved going there. They women who work in the front office are priceless. Several months ago, I started experiencing some severe back and neck pain. Once I started getting regular headaches and problems sleeping from the pain, I decided to go find a local chiropractor. Thankfully, my work offers chiropractic insurance; I checked their website and found a number of local practitioners. I then looked them up on Yelp, and Dr. MacChesney was the best rated one as well as the most convenient to my work and home. Everything about this practice is very honest and professional. To the first phone call and consultation, to the subsequent exams and adjustments, Dr. MacChesney and his staff have been very up front about my condition and what needs to happen to get my body back to a pain-free state. I've been going 3 times a week for the last 2 months, and already I've seen a difference. The frequency of my headaches has decreased, as well as their severity. And while I still have some neck and back pain, it is not as bad as before. I expect that after my round of treatments, my body will be as good as new! I was really excited to start something new after being in pain. Scheduled my appointment 1 week in advance only to come to my scheduled appointment with email verification confirmation and 30 minutes early so I'm there on time and be told I was not on the schedule . Front receptionist wouldn't even look at me to acknowledge their mess up. I was just told sorry I have to reschedule you for another day without taking her eyes off her computer . RE-IGNITED MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH CHIROPRACTIC CARE. Let me explain. I received less than stellar service from another clinic in San Leandro. Even with excellent insurance coverage, I had to pay a $100 deductible up front PLUS $25 co pay. The practitioner was too chatty and kept on promising massage services that never happened. This left a bad taste in my mouth and I was without a chiropractor for a whole year. I decided to visit Dr. MacChesney's clinic about a month ago. I wanted to make sure my insurance was accepted, and called the clinic. Elizabeth (Admin Assistant) was very helpful and booked me right away. Jorge (Medical Assistant) was very thorough in reviewing my history and explained that I would need X-Rays before any treatment. You know what's scary, I did not get any X-Rays from the previous clinic. That should've been a RED FLAG. On to the adjustments. I work 12 hour shifts as a nurse and I run 3 times a week. A recipe for spine disaster. Dr. MacChesney has a very pragmatic and no-nonsense approach to his practice. He suggested that I visit twice a week, to take it easy, and gives tips on all around back wellness. Here's the icing on the cake. Calena, the Massage Therapist has magic wands for hands. Boulders I call shoulders turns to putty under her magical spell. You can have a 30min - 60 min treatment before or after your adjustment. Parking is easy (street and free lot). I've been visiting Dr. MacChesney for several years now and he is truly an exceptional doctor. My issues have always been minor, mostly just a tweaked lower back here and there. But last Saturday 2/20 I experienced the worst neck and upper back pain EVER. I went to Kaiser and nothing could be done for me other than being prescribed ibuprofen for the pain. On Monday 2/22 I was able to get a same day appointment with the doc in hopes that I could get any sort of relief. And boy, I was not disappointed. That one session literally made me feel a MILLION times better. After having the neck pain for almost a week. I went for a follow up yesterday 2/26, since I still had a bit of lower back pain. Chris was great. I was familiar with chiropractic work already and Chris didn't push me to sit through the movies etc. like other offices do. He then, quite efficiently, took me through about 40 minutes of physical testing and, thankfully, a first adjustment to help me lower back and pelvis. Wow. The experience is intense but it works. I have been going to Dr. MacChesney for a number of years. I have trouble with my neck due to a car accident many years ago in my teens. I had lost a lot of the curvature of my neck, but through treatment Dr. MacChesney was able to restore much of it. I used to get frequent headaches, but those have now diminished greatly. As I have aged, I have experienced various aches and pains. I have always been able to get relief from those with a visit or two to Dr. MacChesney.
