Please read this before you consider hiring this company. While their website looks professional and their services seem clearly outlined, our actual experience with Chris's Landscaping was completely different from what was promised. I'm sharing our story so others can avoid the same frustrating situation. We chose this business because they are local, and the owner, Chris, seemed professional at first. Before service began, I messaged him directly to spell out exactly which services we wanted and which ones we did not want. On the day of the first visit, my husband also spoke with Chris in person to go over those same boundaries. I saved all of our written messages, and our security camera captured the full audio and video of that conversation, including Chris agreeing to our terms. Despite all of that, he performed services we specifically declined, skipped ones we agreed to pay extra, even though all other landscapers include a light fluff of the dirt in font of the front bushes considering he also charges extra for edging it out. He also left heavy lawn bags in front of our house eve though that was another issue that was both discussed in writing and at the time of the first visit, and another one of the visits. We had explained clearly that our town collects grass on Wednesdays, and Chris promised to schedule our cuts close to that day so the bags wouldn't sit outside all week. He also agreed to leave the bags at our neighbor's curb, due to the fact she too is a customer and agreed to it. I have all of this in writing. Yet it never happened, not once. This was not a minor inconvenience. My husband is in his 70s and living with an abdominal aneurysm. I explained to Chris that my husband physically cannot move heavy bags, and that doing so could put his life at risk. Chris is good for making promises and not keeping them. In the beginning he would messages back politely, and then proceeded to ignore every single thing he agreed to do, week after week. The billing situation was even worse. He charged us several hundred dollars over the agreed price, nearly double, billing us for a spring cleanup that included seeding he only partially did, aeration with a machine that barely touched the surface, and branch and leaf removal when we had neither branches nor leaves. Our camera footage shows his crew was at our property for a total of 19 minutes, with Chris spending more than 10 of those minutes standing outside in front of my home, talking to someone in an SUV. Approximate six-minute visit, give or take a minute or two, on a separate occasion covered the front, a side strip, and the backyard. When I immediately raised the overcharge issue, he claimed it was an accident in the Yardbook system and that he had mistakenly signed us up for every available service. He promised a refund two weeks in a row via Messenger. It never came. I had no other choice then to let him go, and file a formal dispute with Chase, and the bank found entirely in my favor based on the written message trail alone. They didn't even need to see the video footage, though I have saved everything to iCloud. There were other issues too. On the first visit, his crew backed into my shed, popped the door open, and left it that way. They also never closed our gate, not one single time. We have neighborhood cats that come into our yard regularly, and an open shed full of chemicals, machinery and tools, it's not a safe situation for any animal. Once I confronted Chris about the ongoing problems, he stopped coming with his crew entirely and simply ignored us. We have been dealing with this since the first week of April. It is now May 16th, and we have had to cancel our credit card to prevent further unauthorized charges and start the process of finding a new landscaping company from scratch. We were looking for a reliable, long-term relationship with a local business. What we got was broken promises, overbilling, ignored safety concerns, and zero accountability. If you are looking for someone professional and trustworthy, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. One last note: if you scroll through the reviews here, you will notice that Chris responds warmly to the positive ones and ignores the ones that raise concerns. If i could give zero stars, I would. They came to do a spring cleaning. Didn't get rid of any debris and small branches left by the tree in the back yard. Leaves still under my trees along the side of my house to this day. Ran over my sprinkler system in 2 locations and broke them. Waited 3 weeks for a reply to my request to fix to which I was told his sprinkler guy was.... and I quote "too busy"...... the sprinkler guy was too busy to fix a sprinkler system? Which leaves the leg work to me to find a sprinkler guy to fix. Meanwhile, the grass hasent been watered in a month.... thank God for rain. (To his credit... he did offer a credit) So then I asked him to remove weeds and other growth from between the bushes next to my driveway... his guys came, took a weed whacker to my flowers next to the driveway and in front of my house... and left everything where it fell.... didn't even bother cleaning it up. When I emailed Chris about this and said that this was unacceptable... that I would have to shop for a new landscaper, his response was... and I quote... "Have a good one". I have a record of all emails pictures and correspondence if anyone is curious. Super unprofessional. Rude. Irresponsible. Destructive. Uncaring. And clumsy. Horrible company. Workers dug up some perennials and owner just said "sorry". Company did not fulfill its snow removal agreement. After I FIRED the company the workers ruined new sod another company put in because the owner never informed the workers his company was fired. The lawn was literally dying and the owner just said "looks like dog damage"--it was not -- it was the owner not caring at all about his clients and their lawns. Several neighbors also let this company go. Find another company for sure -- this one cares only about getting his money and you're just on your own. New company has already greatly improved my lawn, has good suggestions, pays attention and is available. read more

We contracted with Chris to clear out an ill relative's overgrown property, & he did not complete the job. He left a mess of dirt, junk & yard debris on the sidewalks & in the yard. After promising to come back & clean it up, he never finished the job. Complaints by neighbors were made to the town; an inspector visited & issued a citation. After paying Chris a lot of money for this job, we had to hire someone else to finish it. We have left numerous calls & text messages but he has never responded & we are totally disgusted. We would never recommend this business to anyone who wants the job done right. read more

I totally recommend this company, they responded promptly when I called for an estimate and when requested they emailed a detailed estimate within the day. Sent a response to my e-mail with a request for my home address, with no other details. I replied to this e-mail with my city and location seeking to arrange a visit/meeting. When you can't even be bothered to respond to polite inquiries from potential customers, nor adhere to the assurances you yourself provide on the company website and social media, you tell us all we need to know. This lawn service is not a good service I hired him along with two other neighbors last spring to give us weekly maintenance his guys damaged my Neighbors central air conditioning unit to the tune of several thousand dollars his ride mower ripped up our lawns every week leaving bald spots all over our properties we all text him to let him know what his crew was doing all this guy did was make empty promises if you think he comes with his crew to see what they are doing wrong think again he doesn't. Chris's website states, You don't know how many times I've heard someone say that their lawn company they were using has not been answering their phone calls, not showing up when they were supposed to or worse yet not showing up at all!! Should never hired this landscaper did a terrible fall cleaning. Then didn't show back up until 6 weeks later to do the first cutting. By then the grass was already 10" high. The weeds took over the lawn because he never put down the weed and feed. My worse mistake was believing that this landscaper would do a good job. He also over charge me for Fall cleaning. Plus he leaves the grass in bags for you to get rid of by Nassau County unlawful. read more
