Our 6 years old daughter was referred by her PCP. I called and the front staff were amazing in make her appointment and communicative on what to expect. When we arrived, we had to wait about 15 minutes in the lobby, pretty typical for any doctors office but nothing overly long. When we went back, I was pleasantly surprised with all the pink. It was such a nice difference from bland office decor. Our daughter has a disability and they were able to accommodate her through the whole appointment. We had 2 appointments before we scheduled surgery and it was terrifying. Dr. McAlpin and her team the best they could to educate us about the entire process with care instruction for the weeks after the surgery. The day of the surgery came and the hospital was right next to the doctors office. We were given the red carpet through out the whole process taking our little for surgery. We have her 4 month post op appointment tomorrow and we are so looking forward to it. Please don't let the negative comments deter you. I hope other parents who were in our shoes can see my review and find peace that your child is in the very best care with Dr McAlpin. I was so worried after reading other reviews and they did not reflect the amazing experience our family had. I would like to start my stating that this review in no way speaks on Dr. McAlpin. However, her office team is the WORST most lazy unprofessional group of people I have come across in years. This is the worst staff that I have ever spoken to (actually I can't even say spoken to because these people are so lazy they don't even bother answering the call! Instead they answer the phone and immediately put you on hold). To be on hold for over 20 minutes is ridiculous but what makes it even worse is being on hold for 20 min hold where no one has even greeted you. I was in charge of caring for a patient of Dr. McAlpin post tonsillectomy. The surgery was smooth and quick so I would've assumed the post op care would have been as well but wow this is the worst treatment by an office staff. Don't bother did all my testing the Dr. recommended me to live my life with a rupture ear drum for life and at the end to set up a date for my ear surgery never heard from them just stood me up waisted my time on my days off from work thinking this Doctor would fine a solution to my ear ! I wouldn't question Dr. McAlpin's knowledge, but good luck dealing with her office. Trying to get anyone to answer the phone is a nightmare, and when you do, don't expect clear communication or proper follow-through. I had my tonsils removed, which is an extremely painful recovery, and when I tried to get the rest of my prescribed pain medication, I was told that the doctor never meant to send it in the first place--apparently, it was an accident. So, if you're looking for an office that thrives on chaos, dismisses patient needs, and is impossible to reach, this is the place for you. read more

The person who called me was very kind and gave me an appointment within 5 minutes. I don't find any reasons to complain; so far so good. I was referred to Dr. McAlpin for diagnosis of a salivary gland tumor. For my initial appointment, I was interviewed by P.A. Nunez. I've never had such a warm, caring and thorough medical experience! Before scheduling my meeting with Dr. McAplin, I gathered all relative medical records from the last 7-8 years. My records were examined and a more current CT Scan was ordered and sent to Dr. McAlpin. My meeting today was informed and comforting; resulting in my decision to schedule the surgery as soon as possible. If you have a choice in the matter, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! I once waited on hold for 48 minutes before hanging up and calling back to still be put right back on hold. No accountability with anyone in this office. It once took me 3 days of trying to get through to somebody. They don't return voicemails either. They will drag out any appts, treatments, test, results, ect. I strongly believe it has to do with insurance and getting the most pay. Most of the time the Dr is not even in the office. She has her medical assistant doing the procedures or a nurse practitioner. The Dr does not have compassionate or care that a patient is having issues and needs relief. Just by talking to me the 1st time they insist I have allergies but won't tell me how to go about dealing with them other than a nasal spray that I did use for almost 2 months when I told them that they were not helping they didnt recommend something else. And stating I may have severe allergies. 3 months later still no further help. Parking is not validated. Office is a big on the old and the rough side. Well, to make a long story short, my daughter finally got to meet Dr. McAlpin and arrange surgery for her tongue tie. The surgery was today, it went quick and the hospital staff over at California dignity health across the street took amazing care of my 6 month old, as usual. Babies get to go first, so her surgery began at around 7:30am. Dr. McAlpin gave her a beautiful pink teddy bear before surgery and the nurses turned on coco melon for her as they carried her in. My daughter's tongue tie is gone and everything is working perfectly. My view on the way the front office staff is running things, has still not changed, as they lost our new patient paperwork when it was literally put in their hands, on top of never answering the phone. So, I'll bump this up to 3 stars..Dr. McAlpin is great, I just really dislike having to deal with her office staff. read more

It was a busy office and there were a lot of people waiting. Overall the nurses were nice and the person who saw me was nice and did a good job. I was assigned here through my insurance and leave voicemails and go unreturned, endless phone calls on hold, and after on that of trying to be seen they sent a request to my insurance and even though my insurance approved my procedure - It "wasn't showing as approved on their bill end". This office will provide you with the lowest quality of care. And when I called to complain I was on the phone with half-asleep individuals who pretend like they don't know who you are and just want to shuffle papers and "resend" authorizations and waste your time. Do they never, ever answer the phones? yes, of course they don't. Typical of most healthcare facilities. The thing you need to be afraid of is that Christina McAlpin is a liar and an opportunist. I went in for hearing loss after having an acute double ear infection for 2 weeks. After she remarks to her nurse that she can't see properly into my ears with her otoscope, she tells me that: 1. I never had an ear infection( I was diagnosed at an urgent care and had taken antibiotics 2 weeks prior). 2. she doesn't know what happened but probably "allergies and different factors that we don't know" 3. I have to go to a lab to get a simple hearing exam, which I won't be able to schedule until I get a letter at least 2 weeks from now I ask: 1. if not an ear infection, what did I have? SHE DOESN'T KNOW, maybe allergies 2. Why has my hearing not returned? SHE DOESN'T KNOW, probably allergies Red flags at every turn. Even the student nurse practitioner didn't know what Sudafed does when she quizzed them in front of me. THIS WOMAN DOES NOT HELP OR TELL THE TRUTH. I recommend you disregard these bad reviews. All I have are the utmost respect for Dr. McAlpin and her staff. My son was a patient of Dr. McAlpin and had surgery with her. The entire process went very well thanks to the kindness and professionalism of the doctor. She eased my sons anxiety and we felt her support throughout the whole process. I love Dr.McAlpin and her pink office! It brightens your mood! She is friendly, caring and knowledgeable! However her office staff just too slow. What yelpers say about the phone calls are sadly true. I put them on my speaker and wash my face, put on layers of skincare products, make up and they usually pick up when I'm done-it takes a while. They must do something about the waiting period! Even at the office, you wait minimum 25-30 min even after making an appointment. Doctor is wonderful but the wait is just crazy. read more

I had high expectations and was excited to see Dr. Mc Alpin. She was referred to me by someone else and so I called last friday 9/5/19 to make an appointment. The office manager by the name of Alicia(uh-lee-sha) picked up and I briefly explained that I needed an appointment for a tumor I have. When I was referred to Dr. Mc Alpin, I was informed that this doctor accepted my insurance. This office manager took my information and proceeded to give me an appointment for today 9/9/19. I thought that it was strange that she didnt ask what type of insurance I had. I walked into the dark doctor's office today. No greeting from any of the front staff and that's fine but sitting in that position, I'd think that it's their job to acknowledge patients' presence. I quietly waited 20 minutes before I took the initiative to receive the new patient paperwork. After I was done filling out the information the front office staff asked me for my identification and insurance. I gave them to her and sat back down. I spent close to an hour in that office just to hear that they didnt accept my insurance. I'm not upset about the fact that they didnt accept my insurance but I was definitely upset that the manager of the office was careless and passive when making the appointment. I understand that a manager has more duty to do than the front office and part of that manager's job is to keep patient flow coming into that office as well. But a person who's so careless and to be in that position of authority? It will only bring down the doctor's reputation more and more. read more

Do not go to this Doctor. Having supposedly found an inflammation on my vocal cords through a laparoscopic procedure . Which I didn't particularly notice, but I took her word for it. She and I discussed a biopsy, which is fine. As I understand it, a biopsy of that sort is done with a needle, and is largely as non-invasive as that sort of thing can be. As I found out a few days later and much to my surprise, she had scheduled actual surgery and wanted to cut something out of my vocal cords. I'm still not sure what and then cauterize it with the laser. I'm not sure why she would schedule surgery without my knowledge and think that it was OK? When I tried to reach her for clarification, I was told I needed to make an appointment to talk to her for five minutes about the procedure and I would have to wait four days for that appointment. When the appointment rolled around, I was called by one of her assistance 10 minutes late asking any number of stupid questions and then put on hold for another 10 minutes. I'm sorry, but any doctor can't find time to talk to their patient about a potentially dangerous and risky procedure shouldn't be in the business. I made an appointment 2 weeks in advance after a referral by my PCP. I showed up 30 minutes early to make sure i'm not late and to fill out all the paperwork. I had to wait more than 2 hours before the doctor came to see me. This is absolutely unacceptable. When my surgery was approved, i kept calling for 2 weeks in a row to schedule it, but they would either not pick up the phone or put me on hold for such a long time that i had to drop the call because i cannot afford to be on hold for hours on end. This medical office has the worst customer service i have ever seen and i am just thinking of cancelling my surgery because of how badly they treat their patients. Came for an ear infection. The doctor just prescribed ear drop without any explanation of how to do home care. I wanted to come in for a follow up next week but they said that I cannot come in for follow up and ear cleaning if I don't get the authorization from the insurance company. I've read the horror stories about the office staff & they've always been nice over the phone & in person. There does seem to be a problem though with the booking of appointments, since regardless if you come on time, the waiting room is jam packed & you can definitely expect a wait. While my first visit with Dr. McAlpin was pleasant, my most recent experience wasn't so great. I have Meniere's disease & while I've been scheduled for various test, I've been waiting well over a month for an allergy test that's been on back order. It's annoying because of this holdup, so I went ahead & made a follow-up appt to see if there's an update. I expected to have an audience with Dr. McAlpin, but instead, another individual (African-American female) came into the room, never introduced herself or gave her position as to whether she was a doctor or not. Instead, she peppered me with questions, stuck a probe up my nose, and seemed very preoccupied. This really rubbed me the wrong way, along with being rushed through the "appointment", and I walked away more frustrated with my situation. I was dependent on my over-the-counter nasal spray which I used to use all day long for a many many years and none of my doctors found a solution for me except to prescribe a prescription nasal spray which didn't work at all. After Dr. McCalpin gave me a regimen to wean off of my nasal spray, she proceeded to fix my nose through a process inferior turbinate reduction. My mother received her authorization to see Dr. McAlpin for her several ear ache. I called the office (4 times), and was put on hold (48 minutes on average). They eventually hung up. What a waste of time! I had to call my mothers primary physician to get another referral. After reading all of the bad reviews on Yelp, I think Dr. McCalpni should consider replacing her office staff with one who is more competent. Otherwise, she may risk losing more patients. Dr. McAlpin did a surgical procedure and removed a cyst from my sons ear. She was very professional, nice, concerned about our concerns and gave us clear information regarding his cyst. Surgery was great. As far as the office the wait isn't too bad but in the waiting area due to the multiple people waiting they should provide some kind of air freshener. She insisted it's all about allergies and didn't even spend time to explain what allergies I had and explain what they mean. She did scope me through the nose and didn't explain the process and I was gagging the whole way through it. I have no idea about the kind of care Dr. McAlpin provides. I was never given the chance to find out. This review is based solely on the fact that I was placed on hold for over an hour trying to make an appointment. Adding insult to injury is the fact that the person who answered the phone spoke in such a rapid fire way, that nothing she said could be understood before the hold music came on. Customer Service 101 is this - You ask the caller if you may place them on hold and allow them to answer. I called back three times in the hope that someone with more professionalism would answer.
