Literally the best Greek and Mediterranean dishes we've had in Florida. Christina and Pascal are wonderful hosts and even better chefs!! Thank you both, amazing spot!!!!

Though with its somewhat lackluster décor or feeling of leisurely ambiance you might think that Christina's would be the type of Greek restaurant that you'd merely stop into to grab a bite to eat or have a quick dinner, but you'd be wrong. It's actually the type of place where you want to spend time because when it comes to what is outstanding as well as authentic Greek food, Christina's is the real thing. So, if you go here, if you enjoy Greek food, be sure to set aside the time savor and understand it. As it says on the top of its menu: "Please be patient, we cook to order." The proprietor, who also has the Gyro Joint on Cypress Road that holds an enviable Yelp four stars double plus rating not only makes everything to order but everything from the ground on up using the best and freshest of ingredients. This was evident to me when I had what I believe to have been a lightly sautéed calamari in marinara sauce. The marinara sauce was indeed some of the best ever, not only with a fresh taste but an elusive sweetness to it. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I've always noted the marinara sauces I've had in Greece to be superior, especially with seafood...think "maritime" sauce, to those I've had in Italy. So, maybe though the Italians first created it, the Greeks perfected it. Kind of a reverse take off on that age old joke that though the Greeks may have invented sex, it was the Italians who first perfected it by introducing it to women. LOL! I also had an order of Christina's stuffed grape leaves (dolmades), and likewise found them to be everything the equal of what I've had in Greece. The leaves had that certain raw crunchiness to them and the stuffing fresh and flavorful. Overall Christina's offers a real treat in authentically fresh Greek cuisine.

I first discovered Christina's back in 2008, thanks to Yelp. It quickly became my favorite restaurant, and with good reason: Christina is a fantastic chef who makes almost every item on her menu from scratch. She works far too many hours per day, and has only ever taken a handful of days off in the eight years I've dined here, but the quality of her food is absolutely evident. I'm a bit of a creature of habit, to the point where Christina knows what I am going to order as soon as she sees me walking through the door. Nine times out of ten, I get the tzatziki appetizer (with an extra pita) for lunch. Other restaurants' tzatziki cannot hold a candle to hers... indeed, I've been pretty consistently disappointed elsewhere. The pita is wonderful and thick, not like the paper thin, pre-packaged kind you usually get. Since I've been a loyal customer for so long, she's convinced me to branch out and try other items. Her hummus is delicious and thick, not overly smooth like the kind you'd find in a grocery store (that's a good thing, in my book). The dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) are great as well, with a light lemon dressing drizzled on them. The falafel sandwich (at lunch) is MASSIVE, with a generous amount of hummus on top along with lettuce, onion and tomato (although I request the latter two to be kept off). It comes with fries, which I've never been able to touch since the sandwich itself is so incredibly filling. For dinner, I've had the beiftecki platter, which are her homemade Greek meatballs served with a side salad, pita and rice. I've also opted for the falafel platter at dinner (as the sandwich is only available during lunch), which is served with the same items as the meatballs. In general, I've noticed her dinner platters are quite generously portioned, and you'll most likely have some great leftovers for lunch the next day. If you have room, order the baklava for dessert. It's huge, and easily feeds two people. It also keeps quite well if you want to save half (or even two-thirds) for the next day or two. Last year, the restaurant moved from its old location on Atlantic near Federal to this new place just a few blocks east. I think it's rather unfortunate that the restaurant that moved into her old location also happens to be Greek, and thus I believe some are confusing it to be Christina's when it's not. It's why I don't necessarily trust some of the negative reviews on here, since I think it's entirely possible that people are mistaking the new place for hers. In fact, while I was in Christina's a couple of weeks ago to grab lunch, a woman was yelling at her on the phone (loud enough that I could hear it) that she didn't like the soup she had ordered to go, and demanded to speak to the man who had taken her order. Christina was trying to explain to the woman that she had called the wrong business, since there wasn't a man even working at her location. Only then did the woman stop yelling. If you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, or even Italian (as she has quite a few pasta dishes as well), you'd be doing yourself a favor by visiting Christina's. I'm happy to say that, eight years after first discovering this place, it's still one of my favorite restaurants in South Florida.

This place is amazing! From the food to the service! I usually order through delivery but decided to stop in today and have lunch inside the restaurant and I must say I was NOT disappointed. The woman behind the cashier was the sweetest lady ever and my gyro was even better than I've ever had it since I had it fresh and not delivered! 5 stars all the wayyyyyy!

This place is a must visit! The food was fresh and exquisite! Can't wait to go back and try more!!

I originally came here because my boyfriend got a groupon but I'm definitely coming back this place is a hidden gem! It's super clean and Christina served us herself! She came to Miami from Athens 15 years ago with her husband and her daughter. Everything was delicious! 10 stars if could. The lemonade is homemade (and free refills!!). The hummus is amazing the feta is amazing the pita bread was to die for!!! fresh and doughy. The dinner came with a small Greek salad to start and everything was very fresh. Great French fries! The gyros were flavorful and the tzaziki is the best I've ever had . Even the chicken Parm was great.

The first thing we noticed, which was a bit unexpected, was the decor. The ambiance was really nice and inviting. This is the type of restaurant where someone could host a party. The service was really good too. We received water almost immediately after being seated, and our server came by shortly after. The manager stopped by throughout our visit to provide recommendations, and he was really nice. It made the experience feel more personal. For our appetizer, we ordered the Baba Ghannouj, which complemented the pita bread really well. It was our first time having it, and we did not know what to expect, but it was great. It was really flavorful, and we finished it wanting more. For our entrees, we had the Lamb Chops and the Seafood Tagine. The lamb chops were great. It was not a huge portion, but the meat was flavorful and cooked well. The presentation was also really nice. The Seafood Tagine looked great, and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. Everything about the dish worked well together, and we felt that all the flavors complemented one another. There was a good harmony between the ingredients. For dessert, we ordered the Kunafa, which was another first for us. We had never had it before, but the description really sold us on it. It was really good. This is the kind of dessert that is best shared since it is a little heavy. Toward the end of our visit, a belly dancer came out to perform, and it was really exciting. La Vie is a great restaurant, and we will definitely return. We felt as though we got a true Mediterranean experience during our visit.

Desert Heat in Suburban Florida…read more Coral Springs is not exactly known for culinary danger. It's polite. It's manicured. It behaves. And then you walk into Falafel Gourmet and suddenly you're not in suburbia anymore -- you're in a little Middle Eastern oasis hiding in plain sight on State Road 7. First thing that hits you? That glass case of baklava. Not two sad trays. Not corner-store pastry vibes. A full shimmering lineup of honey-soaked, pistachio-loaded, syrup-dripping architecture. It's the kind of display that makes you whisper, "I'll pretend I'm taking it home for later." You're not. You're eating it in the car. Then the homemade lemonade. Not powdered. Not lazy. Fresh. Bright. And just when you think you've figured it out -- there's that hint of ginger. Subtle heat. Like it knows something you don't. It cuts through the richness like a blade. One sip and you realize Florida doesn't deserve this level of refreshment. Now let's talk shawarma. Lamb. Chicken. We had both. And this is where things get serious. Juicy. Properly seasoned. Wrapped tight. No soggy collapse halfway through. No bland filler. Just meat that's been treated with respect and cooked like someone's grandmother might actually yell at them if they messed it up. If your shawarma needs sauce to survive, you've already failed. This one doesn't. The service? Warm. Real. No robotic upsell script. You feel like they actually want you there. Like they care whether you enjoyed it. And then the teas. There's a section of teas that will make you want to point randomly and say, "Surprise me." You start asking questions. You start trusting recommendations. You start planning a second visit before the first one is done. This isn't fast food. It's edible hospitality. We walked in curious. NEW FAMILY FAVORITE ALERT…read more My family and I love Mediterranean cuisine and this restaurant is officially a go-to. We started with several appetizers including spinach pies, falafel, and the Hommous sampler. The falafel was crisp and packed with flavor! I can't recommend the toum (garlic dip) enough. I would put this spread on anything! Another standout that we were all pleasantly surprised was their fries! These are the crispiest, most delicious side dish. Don't skip them. For dinner we had their moussaka and shish combo. The lamb, chicken, and kabobs were perfectly cooked- so flavorful and juicy! For dessert we had their bread pudding and Dubai chocolate brownie that came recommended from our waitress. Definitely enough to share and very decadent. Lastly, I want to compliment the service. Our drinks were always full, food came out altogether, and they took the time to explain various dishes and how they differ from the typical Mediterranean dishes. The employees were very friendly and welcoming, our waiter explained the menu and gave us recommendations. We ordered few small items and everything was fresh and flavourful... but I had a very big surprise about my favourite Tabbouleh salad. I always order this salad in many different states and countries and I love it. This was the only time I couldn't eat it. It was just way too much green onion in it (really competing with parsley). Like tons and large crunchy pieces of green onion. I took the salad home hoping my husband would eat it but he said "This is green onion Tabbouleh, not parsley". So yeah, that's my only disappointment here. Maybe it was the only time they made it like that by accident.. or maybe that's their ratio recipe, I wasn't sure. The Lentil soup was delicious! Also my friend's dish - the lamb and roasted veggies were pretty good. I would love to come back and try another dishes, their famous tea and/or coffee.

The service, atmosphere, and quality of the food never disappoint. This review is based on two separate visits, and both were outstanding experiences. On our first visit, we stopped in on a Friday evening and were lucky enough to grab seats at the bar. We were immediately greeted by our bartender, Matthew, whose warm and friendly personality made us feel welcome right away. He took our drink and food order, offered excellent recommendations, and introduced us to their newly launched happy hour menu. My spouse and I were genuinely excited to see that they had finally added food options to happy hour. In the past, we often skipped coming during happy hour because there weren't any food offerings, so this was something we had been hoping for. For our second visit, we specifically returned to try the new happy hour menu. Thankfully, the bar wasn't too busy, and we were able to grab seats again. Although, after posting this review, I may regret letting everyone know about this hidden gem because the bar area is small and those seats are going to become even harder to get! This time, we were greeted by Stephen, who crafted some fantastic cocktails and walked us through his recommendations from the happy hour menu. We were also warmly welcomed by the manager, Peppa, whose genuine hospitality made our visit even more enjoyable. When we told her we came specifically to sample the new happy hour offerings, she shared some of her personal favorites, and every recommendation was spot on. We sampled several cocktails, including the Espresso Martini, Perfect Pear, Violeta, Guava Dream, Cucumber Twist, and Velvet Dynamite. While they were all excellent, our favorites were the Perfect Pear and the Velvet Dynamite. As for the food, the Greek Salad and Pita with Tzatziki are always must-orders for us. The Aegean Bites have also become one of our favorites. We tried both the Feta Saganaki and the Shrimp Saganaki--the feta was absolutely incredible, and the shrimp version was equally delicious for seafood lovers. The sliders were a generous portion, and my spouse thoroughly enjoyed them. My only minor criticism would be the chicken slider. The chicken had a loose, ground texture that wasn't my favorite. I think it would be even better with grilled chopped or diced chicken instead. It certainly wouldn't stop me from coming back, but it's the one item I'd probably skip next time. Needless to say, I absolutely love this restaurant, and I'm even more excited now that they offer what I think is one of the best happy hours around. A huge thank you to Matthew and Stephen for their outstanding service behind the bar, and a special shout-out to Peppa for making both of our visits so welcoming and memorable. We'll definitely be back!
