When searching for photographers, we started based on friend's recommendations. One of those photographers eventually referred us to Chris, and we're so happy they did. We met Chris for our initial meeting back in July. He discussed his services, showed us his portfolio, and gave us info on why he does his services the way he does. Having been through the wedding photography process himself, he wants to make it easy for a couple, and not force them to make decisions about packages, albums, etc... up front. This is just what we needed. We decided to do an engagement session in September. Chris met us at the Sculpture Park in Downtown Seattle and we had so much fun. It was great to get to work with him before the wedding so we knew what to expect when the big day came. As our wedding date approached, Chris reached out to us to discuss specific photo locations at our venue, the timeline, and provided many valuable suggestions. He had already checked out our venue, so he had great insight on the lighting and the best places to take photos. When the wedding day finally came, Chris & team were on time and professional. My cousin referred us to Chris when we were searching for a wedding photographer. After our first meeting, we didn't even want to meet with anyone else, even though he advised that we should look around before making a decision. Chris is down-to-earth, friendly, professional, and so talented. His communication was thorough and he was always timely in his response. What can we say about Chris other than he is incredible at what he does. I met with a few photographers leading up to the wedding, but he was the only one who came completely prepared and seemed truly excited about his work. We did an engagement shoot with him and it was a really great way to get to know him better, and his style - he is VERY good at making the two of us, who can be awkward in front of a camera, very at ease and got some incredible shots. The most difficult task for us was to find a good photographer. We were so lucky to have Chris. He was very professional and experienced. He responded to our emails quickly and worked with us to plan out the day. He was also very helpful with the day timeline. While I wasn't comfortable having my picture taken at first, I showed up to our engagement photos and by the end I was posing and laughing the whole time. Chris is amazing!!! We could not be happier with our wedding photos!! He did an incredible job capturing the natural beauty of the day, the love and emotions (I think he caught every one of my sister's tears), and then the fun on the dance floor. We opted not to get video, but we can relive the magic of the day over and over with his artful photos that captured the spirit of the event at every moment of the day. One of the things we loved about Chris was how laid back and relatable he was, while also being extremely professional. He showed up for our first meeting early and extremely prepared. He was very honest with his opinions on different options, even when it didn't serve his profits. He was very straightforward about the pros and cons of my desire to not have a "first look" before the wedding, particularly with respect to the sacrifice we would need to make to quantity of pictures together or time at the cocktail hour. In the end, we did decide to forego the first look so that we could have it as I walked down the aisle. But, we also wanted to make sure that we didn't spend too much time with pictures after the ceremony so that we missed out on spending time with our guests at the cocktail hour. Chris put up with my micro-managed schedule and helped us make it all work. He was amazingly efficient while also ensuring that we had some special moments together before joining the group. We were able to get a ton of beautiful pictures of the two of us in a few different spots along with the pictures we wanted with our families. And we stayed right on schedule and finished the posed pictures in time to enjoy the cocktail hour. The candid photos are just as beautiful as the posed ones, and the biggest problem we have is that there really aren't very many bad pictures-- it makes it hard to narrow down! ;-) We've got lots of beautiful smiles and laughs, tears of joy, and crazy moves on the dance floor. And he seems to take extra care of the bride. At one point, when either the drinks or my very high shoes got in my way and I fell down on the dance floor, I looked up at Chris as I was falling and noticed him immediately and deliberately turn around and act as if it never happened. No pictures...yay! Chris's price is extremely reasonable. You get way more than you pay for, especially considering that his fee has no time limit. It was important to us that we were able to capture both getting ready and the dance party to the end, and it was nice to be able to do that without having to pay extra. Chris and an assistant did the pictures for our wedding at the Canal June 7th, as well did a engagement photo shoot over Christmas. Planning our wedding from three timezones away, we first met Chris over skype. He was very professional and personable and spent a lot of effort trying to get to know us. We chose Chris because 1) He was reasonably priced 2) You have him for as long as you want day of 3) You get all the pictures 4) He is a former engineer, which my husband is as well so they really clicked. We worked with Chris on a family photo session at a nearby park. From the start Chris was easy to work with and super flexible on dates as spring time rain required us to reschedule one or two times. Our relationship with Chris started out well enough, but he turned out to be one of the most unprofessional, and frankly rude, people I have ever worked with. We got engagement photos done with Chris, and we shared with him from the beginning that we were concerned about finding angles and poses that were flattering for our plus-size bodies. He was very attentive during the engagement shoot and gave lots of feedback about how to stand, etc. We were very happy with the shots. When the wedding came around, all of that went out the window. He gave us barely any feedback throughout the day and hardly said anything to us. He even had the audacity to leave our venue 90 minutes early without telling us! When my husband emailed him and politely said we were disappointed in the photos and felt that they were unflattering (especially compared to our engagement shots), Chris responded by saying none of it was his fault. He blamed my husband's "cheaply tailored rental suit" (it was neither cheap nor rented), my unflattering bridal dress and hair, the bad lighting at the venue, my lack of organization and planning, and the stress of the day. He told us we should have consulted him about what to wear ahead of time so we would have looked better in the photos. He finished by telling us that I was never going to like my wedding photos because I have low self-esteem and I was "projecting my poor body image" onto him, and that I couldn't blame him for my problems. I was absolutely floored by this response. It is unbelievable that a "professional" can take so little responsibility for their own work. He was unsympathetic and flat out rude. He made so many judgments and baseless assumptions about my husband and I, I just cannot believe that he would treat a customer this way. It was disgusting. read more

I stumbled upon Chris' website in my seemingly endless search for an affordable, yet modern and creative photographer. Chris was very easy to work with...flexible and accommodating. We chose his "Basic II" package which was essentially 2 photographers (Chris and his assistant) for unlimited time on the day of the wedding and all the digital images for us to keep. We met with Chris a couple weeks before the wedding to make sure we were all on the same page regarding the schedule and which specific pictures we wanted. Chris and his assistant were at our venue to start taking "getting ready" pictures at about 10am (our ceremony didn't start until 3pm). They stayed until after our sparkler exit at about 10pm. They were extremely professional throughout the day and kept the formal pictures moving in a respectful way. In the weeks following the wedding I heard from guests several times that every time they thought "oh this is a great shot, I should go find the photographer" they would see Chris or his assistant was already there shooting. Sure enough, when we received our photos (uploaded to a website for us to share with our guests, less than a month after the wedding) they told the story of the day from beginning to end with every important moment captured and a perfect mix of posed, candid, and artistic images (over 2000 pictures!). The proof book and CDs were mailed to us a few weeks later. They came beautifully wrapped and we were pleasantly surprised to see one of our favorite photos of us on the front and back of the book and on the CDs. Chris is, in a word, amazing. We just got our wedding photos and could not be happier. He has such a great eye. The photos are so unique and just perfect. Of course we weren't surprised that we loved them, since we also loved our engagement photos. Chris is also just a great guy and awesome to work with - he's super cool and laid back and has a great sense of humor. He immediately put my husband who hates photos at ease. Chris is also the best in terms of value - his packages include unlimited time (other photographers I noticed do 5-8 hours and you have to pay for extra hours!) as well as the engagement session. He was also so flexible on the day of the wedding, able to tell when we needed breaks, and very attuned to certain family dynamics that affected the photos. My husband and I chose Chris Gendron to be our wedding photographer because we loved the way he seemed to capture an eclectic mix of beautiful shots from the weddings in his gallery (http://www.gendronphoto.com/), he had great reviews, and was willing to work with us to create a package that was right for us. He and his assistant were incredibly easy to work with on the day of the wedding. They made it easy for everyone to relax and have fun with the pictures and were full of great ideas for shots as well as receptive to our ideas. We were incredibly happy with the results when we received our digital copies of all of the photos and a beautiful proof book a few weeks after the wedding. Chris Gendron was the perfect fit for our wedding photography needs--I'm so happy with our experience! I first found his work on Yelp and his artsy style caught my eye. When I reached out, he responded quickly and brainstormed with me some fun places around Seattle to shoot photos (both at a gorgeous park and in downtown). He met with us two days before the wedding to take couple photos (not traditional, but worked better with our schedule) and we had a great time going to beautiful places to shoot. On our wedding day, Chris was efficient with the family/friend photos, and worked extremely hard during the reception to get flattering shots of everyone. He has an exceptional eye for angles, lighting, and for capturing the moment. We couldn't be happier with the final images (over 2,500 digital photos over the two days). We went on a month-long honeymoon right after the wedding, and Chris was fine with getting paid right when we got back. I am the third girl in my family to get married, and my mom said that Chris was the best wedding photographer of the three, perhaps the best she's ever seen.
