I give Chris the highest recommendation. Not only is he willing to work with you to take care of your problems but he really cares about pianos not just making a buck. I had to find a someone to move a grand piano on really short notice because the first company my wife called came in and wanted to jack up his already ridiculous rate to move a grand piano across the room by 100% once he arrived on site. He clearly thought he could take advantage of the fact that the new floor being laid could not continue until the piano was moved. I needed the piano moved that day or first thing in the morning. It was 3 pm when I started calling. Chris answered his call, unusual these days as other piano movers never even returned my call. He flexed his schedule to come out that evening to move the piano at a really fair price. His concern was to make sure the piano was safe. He took great care in moving the piano to make sure both the piano and floor were not damage. He gave me some good recommendation on what to get to place the piano on the new floor and returned a few days later to move the piano back. Chris is what you like to find these days. Someone who is fair and is willing to work with customers to develop a longer term relationship. I called Chris yesterday to see if he could help me out with a piano that stopped working. Our Baldwin electric piano stopped working, all electrical, could be major or minor , but due to the fact I was moving in a few weeks I wanted to donate the piano to a good home. Wonderful experience. Chris is a no-nonsense guy who will give you straight answers and get the job done as promised. Getting a quote was straightforward, price was considerably lower than competing offers, scheduling was a breeze, Chris was at the pickup location right on time, and moved that piano like it was a box of groceries. Checked the instrument over at the destination. What's not to like? You have a guy who knows what he is doing and is not trying to jerk you around. It's a combination that's getting harder to find nowadays. One thing to note. Check if that voucher they have on Yelp can be applied to the particular service you are arranging before you buy it. There are limitations (reasonable ones, I think) and the way that voucher is described on the page is currently not clear. read more

I wanted to donate my baby grand piano to charity since I am downsizing and moving into a smaller space. I made an appointment with Chris at Christopher Piano for him to pick up my piano so he could find an organization to donate to charity. He did come to my house and looked at the piano. He said he could tune it and find a place to donate it to. He then went back to his truck and drove away. I didn't know why he was driving away so I called him on his cell phone. He told me that he was going to park on the side street because the street that I live on is busy. I waited for him to come back but he never showed. I called him again but it went straight to voice message. I texted him and no response. I have no idea why he would leave and not come back. If he didn't want my piano to donate he could have told me when he first saw it. So sadly, I have to give him a '1' star. read more

I have tried to contact Christopher on multiple occasions and he has still not come to look at the problem. I will NOT recommend him for tuning and customer service. read more

Totally agree with another reviewer. I was referred to Christ by my son's friend's mom. He was very friendly and nice. It took a while for him to help me get a piano and he promised me to come back tuning my piano because I paid him in advance. I never doubt about him and trust him 100%. He even promised me he'll repair the piano for free if it had any problem. Then 6 weeks pasted and it was time to tune the piano. I couldn't find him any more. In the past 3 weeks, I called him millions of times and left many voice mails & emailed him. Unfortunately, I never heard back from him. NEVER! It's really really ridiculous and frustrating! I always trust people and believe what they promise me. He totally ruined it this time. Finally he left me no other choices, so I have to contact my credit card company and disbute the payment to him back to March. It's not a nice thing to do, but I really don't know what else I can do. Hopefully I'll get my money back. Now I have to get another technician to tune the piano because my son's instructor said something wrong definitely needs to fix asap. I'll be very careful from now on. Sometimes people are not nice & reliable as we think. FYI, I paid via PayPal and charged on my credit card. read more

I found Chris on Craigslist and was reluctant to call, but I decided to give it a shot. I texted him and he replied about pricing, etc. We texted back and forth and I talked to him on the phone. He seemed nice and experienced and was guaranteeing that he will not scratch or damage the piano. We needed to move the piano before our new furniture set arrived, so we picked a delivery date for Friday, May 20th at 7pm. He asked me to text him the pickup and delivery address and I sent it to him on Wednesday, May 18th. I asked him to confirm and I didn't get a response. I sent text messages, called him, left voicemails, even sent an e-mail after finding it on his website.........still no response. When I called, it went straight to voicemail. So I thought, maybe there was an emergency. However, out of courtesy and professional customer service, I should get some response so I am not sitting and waiting for him, wasting my time. At the end, Chris never came and he never moved my piano. I had to scramble to find someone else to come move the piano, in time for my new furniture set. Luckily, I was able to find a reliable mover. The whole experience with Chris was very frustrating and disappointing since we set aside the time for Chris to come and pick up our piano. I finally got a text from Chris on Monday, May 23rd with the reponse "I tried but no response". Are you serious? After all the calls, texts, e-mails from me, you said you tried to get a hold of me with no response? How pathetic, he could not even take responsibility for poor customer service and lack of communication. Do not use Chris at all cost! There are many more reliable, professional movers out there that will come pick up your piano on time! read more

Talked to Chris on the phone after seeing him on Yelp. Very responsive and professional over a few calls and texts. We agreed on a great price to move an upright piano. He showed up early for the move and had the piano all wrapped up and ready to go when I showed up to pay for the piano. He quickly delivered it to my home and got it set up. Very quick. Was careful with the floors. Gave me some advice to wait to get it tuned and where to best place it in the house. Pretty amazing. I'm surprised to read the negative about Chris, because he's a great guy. Tried to get a console piano moved - try to get piano movers to answer the phone! After several tries - one didn't go that far, one is retiring, to be fair - I got in touch with Chris. He said he could move it this weekend and they were having a special that's too cheap to write here, now. A little back and forth and two days later I had my piano. He moved it alone with no problem at all - just a console piano, yes. On time, good job, wants to come back next month to tune it and I'm going to call him. Christopher saved the day! It's Saturday, and I desperately needed a piano mover to move one piano from San Leandro to Santa Clara. I called several piano movers on yelp. Those piano movers either didn't work on Saturdays, or quoted me outrageous prices to take advantage of the situation. Finally I called Christopher. He is the man! As promised, Christopher finished his last move, called me as he headed north, and showed up at the pick up location right on time. The move was more challenging than we thought -- tight corners, steep steps... Christopher was very experienced and did everything with great care. He had all the tools needed to get the job done. We are extremely pleased with Christopher's work. His price was very competitive, and he kept his words despite those unexpected challenges during the move. If I can give zero star, I would!!!! This guy is totally not trustworthy. DO NOT HIRE him in any case. He would at first quote you a very "low" price to secure your booking, while we already told him how many steps we have in our house , together with texting pictures to MAKE SURE he is ok and AGREED with that with the price he quoted. Since we booked our appointment 2 weeks prior to the scheduled date, so we re-confirmed with him A WEEK BEFORE the scheduled day on the price and delivery time to make sure we are all on same page. HOWEVER, On the day before our scheduled date, he'd text you and say "I need to add $100 for the steps and want to make sure you agree". I was like "what?? We verbally agreed everything on the phone, followed by text messages, and now u told me you need more money ON THE DAY before you deliver??" Then we said we will cancel the appointment. He was REALLY RUDE and replied "FUCK YOU BITCH" to end the phone. Imagine what could happen if you really hire THIS PERSON to move your piano and have him tune it???? HELL NO! THANKS! read more

Had a wonderful experience with Chris. Bought an used piano locally and needed a move and tuning service as soon as possible. Submitted on-line quote on the company's website around 8am. Chris texted me around 11am and we quickly set up the move and tuning service for 8pm the same day. Yes, Chris worked as late as 9pm, which worked really well for our schedule. His price was reasonable, scheduling was a breeze. Chris picked up the piano from the seller's house, set up in my living room and started tuning. My 8-year old asked tons of questions while watching Chris tuned the piano. Chris was really friendly and patient with him. Overall, we had a great experience. I called Chris for an urgent move on Sunday afternoon. Chris was able to make it. He came late because of delay of his last job, but he kept communicating and updating where he was. He is very professional in piano moving and it seems so easy for him. He did a three-person-job (moving a grand piano up 7 stairs) all by himself with his equipment, and did not charge me any extra for the stairs. I would highly recommend him for piano moving. Beware! I called him prior to the purchase of a used piano to get a price since this was a major factor in whether or not I would purchase the piano. I am on a fixed budget and would not have purchased piano if it was not in my budget. I provided the address , stairs, and included pictures of the piano. He quoted me a price which also included " tuning" the piano. The day before the scheduled move I called him again to confirm time and price we agreed upon. Next day he never arrived for the pick up after seller was waiting for three hours at a vacant house c a piano. Yes he did call me that morning to notify me he increased the price and would need my approval before he could pick up piano. I missed his call since I was at work and my father was waiting at my house for the arrival of the piano. When I did reach him he said he couldn't pick up since I didn't confirm the increase in price. I am confused as to another confirmation when I spoke to him the evening before from the sellers house again including all the details. I even agreed to the increase in price out of desperation since the seller and my dad were waiting. He then never returned my calls and later I found out from a professional tuner the piano needs to be acclimated to the new environment hence cannot be tuned the same day as the move. I contacted Christopher Piano Service to have a piano moved from South San Jose to Saratoga. I found Chris to be professional and knowledgeable about Pianos. We scheduled the move for the next evening. Chris asked me to email him the addresses of pick up and drop off. I did that, in addition, gave him contact information for both locations. The next date when the move was scheduled, No call, No show. I called Chris and left a message, sent him an email and tried to leave another message, however, the mailbox was full. I sent him a text letting him know his mailbox was full. He did respond back and we rescheduled the move. The next scheduled move was also abandoned. No call from Chris or any representative. The timing of this move was very sensitive in nature and this no show for the 2nd time caused me serious ramifications. I feel this is unprofessional and have always believed and operated in a manner that a person is as good as their word. Chris won no awards with this one.
