I highly recommend this dental office. I am always reluctant to switch dentist once I find someone I like and trust. However, I have been searching for a new one ever since I moved a few years ago. I went through at least five different offices until I found this one. Hands down one of the best dentists I've ever had. They have a super friendly and professional staff. He has filled my cavities, created my night guard, done root canals, and placed many (natural-looking) crowns. I went to this dental office with high expectations due to all the great yelp reviews and was very disappointed. The little girl that greated me when I first arrived couldn't answer my insurance questions properly and then the assistant was rough and not very friendly at all. I haven't been to the dentist in a few years, but when my tooth started hurting I figured I should probably see one. I found Dr. Chan through my insurance website and I'm SO glad I did. The office staff is really nice and helpful, and Dr. Chan took the time to explain everything he was doing so I knew what to expect and laid out a plan to get me a night guard and try to stop me from grinding my teeth. When Dr. Chan took over the practice I've been going to for over 25 years he was really friendly and seemed very genuine. The transition was great. I had never had a cavity in my 32 years up to this point. Cut to dentist office being renovated... Large flat screens in every room, bamboo floors, granite counters and the newest high tech equipment (which normally would be awesome)... At our 6 month cleaning I was told that I had a cavity and filled it the next week. I didn't see anything on the digital xray but I trusted him. Both of my daughters had 2 each but also had no prior cavities. Keep in mind we go every 6 months for a cleaning. On our next visit I had 6 cavities and my daughter had 9 and my husband had 1. As he was telling me what work needed to be done Katherine the Hygienist who has cleaned my teeth 25+ years was standing behind him looking at me as she was shaking her head "no". I decided not to have any work done for my daughter or myself. My husband got his filling and had to go back two times to have it fixed. The Hygienist left the practice two months later. This was her life long career so that spoke volumes to me. I switched to my parent's dentist to get a second opinion and I didn't have 6 cavities but 2 and my daughter that Chan said had 9 cavities.....she had 2. There was a time that my son was sick and I had to cancel an appointment and they tried to tell me I would be charged a $50 cancellation fee. I offered to bring in my barfing toddler and they waived the fee. Money hungry. Too bad because he was really good in the beginning. So tonight my filling fell out of my tooth as I was flossing and this prompted my review. I'm also writing to the ADA and my insurance company. read more

I'm 45 years old and visited Dr. Chan for the first time last week. Obviously I've been to the dentist many times over the years so I expected the regular x-rays and cleaning, but instead had the most comprehensive and thorough overview that I've ever had. His equipment is state of the art, but he doesn't just show of his equipment to impress, he really seems to care and use all that his office offers to the benefit of his patients. His attention to detail is even more impressive, I was blown away from what he showed me. His staff as well as himself are all very friendly and really set me at ease. My husband and I have not been to the dentist in over 20+ years, (I know, gross). Anyways, this place has the most friendliest staff ever! At first, my husband would brag about this place and how great it was, i didn't believe it until i gave it a try. They greet you, know your name, and the staff ALWAYS takes the time to explain every procedure you need. I had a deep cleaning done with the periodontal treatment using the laser. Dr. Chan and his assistant explain to me the process before he started the work. During the process, he and his assistant always made sure i was feeling ok and was comfortable. Once the produre was donw, they went over the aftercare process. This place is neat and organize. Everything looks clean to touch. We recently moved to Huntington Beach and decided to go to Dr. Chan for services after receiving a direct mail piece. I am very impressed with Dr. Chan and the entire office staff. My 9 year old son has traditionally been very anxious when going to the dentist and the hygienist and office staff including Dr. Chan were incredible with him. He handled the visits quite well. The hygenist is very nice but Dr. Chan seems more concerned with money than his patients and is not approachable when there is a problem. The staff is terrible. I paid for all my services upfront and a year later I was contacted by Elsie demanding $800.00. Elsie was extremely rude and condescending to me. Elsie threatened to sue me for no reason. I even paid the balance in full when I was told I owed nothing else in December 2017. I have never been treated like this before. I've never even left a yelp review in my life that's how bad I have been treated. My entire family is changing dentists. Dr. Chan is a good dentist but Elsie has made it so that we do not want to return. The office has had a ton of personnel turn over in the last 18 months. They play a bait and switch game. They said they contacted my insurance and the services were covered and my out of pocket was going to be XYZ, then they provided non covered services and billed me. I will definitely be filing a grievance with my insurance company. Buyer beware of this business. read more

Bait and switch and insurance fraud! When I went to Dr. Chan he said I had several cavities and that I needed a new crown. So, I made the appointments and got the work done. I was told I had a deductible and I paid it. I was surprised that I had to pay, but I did. If I go over my insurance maximum then I have to pay the difference. Well, a month later I got another bill in the mail from Dr. Chan saying I owed $307 more! I was shocked! After looking over the bills that my dental insurance paid I realized my insurance was billed for services I did not get. I was sent to another dentist to check to see if the work Dr. Chan charged my insurance company was done. Surprisingly some of it was not! Dr. Chan had to reimburse my insurance company because he charged them for services that he never did. Also, Dr. Chan will say you need work done that your insurance might not cover fully so beware! After dealing with all of this then the crown fell off. Save yourself and find another dentist who is honest. Next step I am reporting him to the American Dental Association and the Better Business Bureau. read more

Dr. Chan took his personal time to take care of my major dental issues prior to having to start Chemotherapy. He addressed multiple issues that needed attention and found several things that previous dentists had missed. He and his staff were all very professional, very competient and very caring. I do not know how to show my appreciation to Dr. Chan except to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dr. Chan uses the new laser technology. With the great amount of work that I had done in two visits I came through with little or no discomfort and I am very satisfied with the work that he did. Dr. Chan offers more services than any previous dentist that I have had. He does regular dentistry, periodontal oral surgery, root canals, extractions and tooth implants. So when she found Dr. Chan, she wish that she had found him earlier and she knows that she will be staying here for a long time. Dr. Chan and his staffs are really the best. I used to get my teeth checked up and cleaned annually but that stopped after a 2-year assignment in Asia. Now that I'm back, I made an appointment with Dr Chan for what I thought was a simple teeth cleaning. However, during his THOROUGH examination (I'm talking about every single tooth on inner and outer side), he explained to me via digital x-ray results and manual notes that I have serious gum issue (severe deterioration). It's one thing to be told of the severity, it's another to actually see the x-ray results on his wall mounted monitor. When zoomed in, you can clearly see what Dr Chan is trying to emphasize. That's not even the end it, he proceeded to make room in his busy schedule for next couple of days in order to work on my gum issue immediately. A quick note on his laser machine, it's nothing like I've ever seen. It's amazing! No pain, no nothing. I just chilled on the chair listening to Pandora (he'll both music and headphones). The job was broken into teeth on the right side on day one then left side on day two. Soft diet for exactly a week and I was back to my old diet. WAY better experience than any of my previous dentists. I honestly don't know what else to say about Dr. Chan. He and his staff are extremely detailed, thorough, and professional. For my case where so much happened unexpectedly, he and his staff really made me feel at ease and relaxed through the whole process. I can't thank Dr. Chan enough!!! read more

I haven't been to the dentist in years so I finally needed to go to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I came to Dr. Chan's office and everyone in the office was very helpful and nice. He found 1 cavity and scheduled me for a cleaning and to have 2 wisdom teeth pulled. Instead of making me show up for 3 different appointments Erika took me at 7 in the morning and made my teeth feel brand new and even flossed my teeth for me. AWESOME! Then after that I got my cavity filled and both wisdom teeth pulled and I was out of there by 10! The dental assistant I think Nina was her name was the sweetest person. She made me feel comfortable when she saw I was nervous about getting my teeth pulled. Thanks Nina! I love my dentist! When do you ever hear that? Not only are Dr. Chan and his staff super friendly, they are very knowledgeable, accommodating, and helpful. I've had many dentists throughout my life, and by far these guys are the best! Besides my regular cleanings, I've had minor and major work done, from fillings, root canals, and an implant done. All the work has been great, no problems, and as painless as they can make it. I will say he is the best at giving novocain shots. The office is great, with large monitors to watch videos, see your x-rays, and even headphones to listen to your favorite pandora station while they work. My last favorite thing is that Dr. Chan always takes time to catch up with you, he recently came out in the waiting area and asked about my upcoming wedding. After not being to the dentist for more than two decades, I found Dr Chan DDS based on my insurance, yelp, and distance to my home. At first I was skeptical, my last dentist experience was so horrible it traumatized me for a while, but when I walked in, I was greeted by Mary with a friendly smile. I had some major work to be done since I avoided the dentist for a long time. Dr. Chan and his assistants took care of me and made sure I was comfortable through deep cleanings, filling replacements, extractions, and regular cleanings. I appreciate that they always check on you while the procedures are being done.
