Excellent experience here. The office is clean, well organized, and has a relaxing atmosphere with comfortable seating. Not your typical dental office waiting room. You'll find coffee, a space to open up your laptop, and plush seating. The front desk receptionists are warm and friendly, immediately welcoming you and getting you checked in. The team that provided dental care to me was kind and welcoming. They made me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived. My hygienist was Bruce. He was personable and easy to have a conversation with. He and the dentist (can't remember her name, but she was very kind) were thoughtful, patient, and explained everything thoroughly. They made sure all of my concerns were addressed. What really stood out was the personalized care. They looked at my specific needs and made recommendations that were affordable and made sense. I appreciated that they focused on what would work best for me instead of giving generic recommendations. Additionally, I need to have a crown due to a fractured tooth. I already knew this might come up because a previous dental office had mentioned it. However, that dental office wanted 2 1/2 times the amount out of pocket than Oceanic Dental. They provided a print out of the work to be done, how much would be billed to my insurance and how much was my responsibility. Best of all, they left it to me to make the decision on when and didn't try to persuade me. It was a completely pressure free experience. You can tell the staff values their patients and wants every visit to be a positive experience. Their attention to detail and genuine concern for patient care made a lasting impression. The only con here is that the parking can be difficult during very busy times. Needed a new dentist as our old dentist tried to take advantage of us in overcharging for services. Found this office near Costco in fountain valley. Very nice clean office with a decent size waiting area with a set up for water, tea, or coffee while you wait and even has what appears to be a massage chair. The ladies at the front desk are very polite and helpful in explaining all of the details of your treatment and visit. The dental assistants are very nice and cheerful and honest with you about the procedures they are performing. Excellent Drs Pham, Tanaka, Hoang. Very personable and excellent dentists. Excellent bedside manners. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My parents in law feel really comfortable being taken care of by these knowledgeable and respectful professionals.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We paid over 2K in cash for my father in law and over 6K in cash for my mother in law for their much needed dental work. We only have $1500 coverage for our ppo insurance and because we use in excess of that amount, we know we have to pay a hefty price out of pocket. However, paying full price as if someone who does not have insurance at all is a bit flabbergasted and ridiculous! I believe the office needs to bill us the contracted negotiated price for in network rather than the full price. Hopefully they'll make it right for us. read more

Poor communication. I had a less than positive experience with the office manager and still am frankly... it all happened one day when my appointment was essentially canceled on my way to it -- okay I'll start here.. so I was running 10 minutes or less behind when I let them know I was running a bit late for a cleaning by calling they said okay I should be fine and have enough time to do the cleaning and X-rays so I said oh I didn't know I was getting X-rays because they said I was scheduled for a cleaning and then mentioned oh and for X-rays also. It's a long story but previously upon entering their dentistry I let them know I wasn't interested in updating my X-rays in an interest to lower my exposure of radiation as I have had enough scans in the most recent years and I had X-rays that at the time were not even 14 or so months old and I have very healthy gums and teeth.. as echoed by their team. I reminded the front desk of this at the time when I was on the phone while driving.. she said they would reach back out and at that point an office manager called me or maybe took the call I can't remember and essentially canceled my appointment and then followed up with an email letting me know how sorry they were for not letting me know they require updated yearly X-rays.. (see attached) they emailed me letting me know it was not a lot of radiation exposure so I said okay and emailed back saying let me know when we can reschedule... only to receive an email saying they are not interested in seeing me as a patient..lol. I just want to say that they dropped the ball from the beginning when I told them I was interested in teeth whitening and never did they follow up with me about that. They did however mention after I said I was interested in Invisalign that we should wait until after that to whiten... in my opinion in an interest to get my to want to do Invisalign sooner.. Nonetheless I asked for a consultation on Invisalign.. I had a scan of my teeth done and I was told they would email me per my insurances portion, a quote.. they also boasted about a promotion they were having for invisalign... They shared the dates with me about said promo and I mentioned right then I would be out of town and they said they would contact me and send me the details so that I wouldn't miss out just because I would be physically out of town when the rep. was in their office as they only had a certain amount of spaces for the promo. I reached back out again proactively shortly after as I never heard from anyone with any pricing and they apologized and then sent it but the promotion was already over... I believe in the email they mentioned they would still honor a said discount but not sure what that meant or really what the promo ever was so I didn't dig my heals in but it was a little weird that they didn't proactively send me pricing, like don't you want business?.. I gave them the benefit of doubt after even though this was my first experience.. mind you I have never needed a cavity filled until this office I had one cavity so I had to get a filling. It took no joke over an hour and a half. Not saying this kind of thing should be rushed.. now following up on the whole X-ray thing I'll just say I don't think that having yearly X-rays is necessary but I'm no expert you can google it yourself.. it's for sure a way of a practice making money - May that be off the consumer or billing the insurance. I can see it being necessary for those with unhealthy gums / teeth/ and in/ for certain cases-- again, Just my thoughts. I'm happy to share the very strange and off putting switch -up email that I got from this office manager though so you can see for yourself what you'll potentially be dealing with moving forward with this practice. Clean office though..... Lack there of parking.. easy to find on a corner. May have a sh*t experience. I would say try somewhere else. Also if you are this business and you are reading this. Which hopefully you would. Please send me my patient records and information and please send me a written letter refusing service. Thank you. read more

Oceanic Dental - Cleaning goodie bag - General Dentistry Near Me - Fountain Valley, California

This clinic lacks basic pre-procedure safety checks and appears more focused on upselling services than patient care. This was my second serious negative experience at this office, and it resulted in an urgent care visit due to medical negligence. During my first incident, a hygienist left suction equipment unattended in my mouth for an extended period, causing bruising to the inside of my cheek. In my most recent visit, I was given two local anesthetic injections without any blood pressure check, despite the procedure not requiring that level of anesthesia. The procedure itself lasted less than two minutes, and afterward the provider stated that anesthesia was not even necessary. Despite this, I was then encouraged to proceed with a deep cleaning and was given a third local anesthetic injection. Within minutes, my blood pressure spiked to 180/120, and my heart rate became dangerously elevated. I repeatedly asked the staff to call 911, but they refused. Instead, they offered me a pill typically used for heart-related symptoms. After some time, I was told it was getting late and felt they were trying to dismiss me rather than provide appropriate emergency care. With the help of my family, I went to urgent care. I was initially told I might need to be sent to the ER. After a full medical evaluation--including an EKG and additional cardiac tests--I was informed that my condition was consistent with an overdose or adverse reaction to the anesthetic administered at the dental office. I had never experienced any reaction to local anesthesia prior to this incident. As a result of this event, I lost workdays and continue to experience episodes of shortness of breath. This situation was avoidable and placed me at serious risk, including the possibility of a stroke. I do not recommend this practice and am actively exploring my legal options regarding this office and provider. Notably, I never received any follow-up from the clinic--not even a basic welfare check. read more
