Christopher's Car Care found issues with my car that weren't picked up by Pep Boys or my official dealership. The problems they fixed completely solved my problems. I was terrified that I'd have to spend thousands on a new hybrid battery, and I was actually looking into buying a new car because of this. After taking my car here, it is working as good as new. We called about a transmission issue, and before the conversation even got very far, my wife mentioned some research she'd done to better understand the problem. Instead of taking her concerns seriously, Dave laughed at her. That immediately set the tone for the entire interaction. We were then quoted $165 just to diagnose the issue, with an additional substantial charge if it needed a transmission flush and fill. Here's some free advice: don't ridicule customers for trying to educate themselves. Most people aren't mechanics, so they do research before spending thousands of dollars on repairs. They may not be correct in their diagnosis--and that's okay--but treating them with respect costs nothing. Unfortunately, this experience came across as dismissive and unprofessional. If you're looking for a shop that values respectful communication, there are plenty of other mechanics in the area worth considering. read more

I had an appointment scheduled at 7:30am. Christopher's was notified I needed a ride back to my house to for an 8:45am meeting. I was told that my ride would be available a little after 8. I was never told when my ride would be ready and everyone in the back area were laughing and having a good time. At 8:25 I told the receptionist that I needed to reschedule my appointment as I had a meeting and needed to get home. The receptionist told Christopher that I was going to reschedule and he came out of his office very angry. He started yelling a me that he would be ready to give me a ride home in a couple minutes. I told him that I would just reschedule. Christopher then said "go ahead and reschedule. Better yet, just don't even reschedule" and walked away. I asked the receptionist why is he so angry that I, the customer, want to reschedule and she said she did not know. He came back out and said that he is very angry that I am rescheduling because now he has an open slot in his day. I work for my son who owns an amazon delivery service that I manage. I train my team on safety and customer service. I stress to the team to deliver each package as they are delivering it to their mother because great customer service will keep a company in business. It is funny we stress customer service and Christopher's stresses keeping their schedule full. The secretary said that the soonest they can get another car in for service was 5 days so a good manager would just call a waiting customer and move that appointment up. Christopher is not astute enough to move another appointment up and thinks good customer service is to abuse the customer. My car is being serviced at another shop that values customers and not a full schedule. read more

Our van was misdiagnosed as having a bad engine. The tech called and gave me a $4500 estimate to replace my Honda engine. With only 102,000 miles on it, I was immediately suspicious, especially being that there was no loss of power, no check engine light on, no fluids leaking, and no odors or smoke. They also said I needed rear brake pads. When my wife picked it up, they offered to buy it from her for thousands under book value. This is a classic scam! I took it to Honda for another opinion and they fixed the problem (noise from engine compartment) for $1,000: it was a timing belt tensioner that needed replaced, as well as a serpentine belt and spark plug. It also did not need brakes -- they were at 50%! I have since talked to THREE separate mechanics who all said there is absolutely no way this shop could have honestly diagnosed my issue as needing a new engine. I was being scammed. I will never recommend this shop and we will never have our vehicles serviced here. read more

Well friends I just wasted a great amount of time on Christopher's car care I took my car in for the front brakes which usually don't take very long they were supposed to be done yesterday then today rolls around and they're still not done and I keep getting the excuse that oh they've got many cars ahead of me that they can't find parts for. One bad experience. Dropped my vehicle off for quote, and was quoted $1200+ for bad wheel bearings. Advised that the parts aftermarket + standard labor didn't make sense, had them pull the car. They broke a plastic surround on the steering wheel and denied it. Wife is still not happy about it. Then the owner decided to argue with me on pricing instead of win my business. Shopped around and it ended up being the rear brakes making the noise and causing the issue. The pins were greased for next to nothing. Vehicle was misdiagnosed and I will never return. Was recommended this place but understand now it's a scam; there are a lot better more reputable shops out there. read more

A family friend recommended Christopher's after I had a poor experience at another shop in the Akron area. I was able to get a same day appointment for some repairs to my engine and they allowed me to use my own parts, since I originally planned on doing the work myself. They provided me detailed information over the phone about pricing and services and made sure I was informed throughout the entire process. The mechanic Dan, took the time to answer all my questions and was very helpful. All customer service experiences were great, everyone was polite and kind! I will definitely be returning for repairs in the future! read more

Wow, great customer service, best since I moved from PA three and a half years ago. I have tried six different places looking for the high standards I was use too! They did a complete check up the first time I brought my car in. They didn't try to sell me or do extra things like the places with the cheap oil change specials. Their estimate was accurate to what they had to do. They told me the things that would need to be done in the future according to my useage. They even offered to take me home and return the car because I didn't have another vehicle available. read more

Hello everyone, I decided to take my 2016 Dodge Caravan that I recently bought to Chris's car care. What a bad experience from the jump. First off I met the secretary and spoke w/ her. I told her my check engine light does not illuminate. She said she didn't understand. I had to explain to her that the check engine light does not light up. Then I drop car off, 4 days later I call secretary to follow up and request a callback from tech. The tech calls me, I asked for a diagnostic OBD2 scan, compression and leak test. He says $800. So they would charge $800 to tell me what's wrong w my car. What a joke. He then says it's non-negotiable. So I just cancel to pick up the car, the owner comes out. They both tell me that I am a car dealer and that my car is a mess. They even did a check to who the plate belongs to on the van. Anyways I am not a car dealer. They found where 2 bolts were missing off oil pan, no leak no big deal. I.just bought car weeks ago. These people are not customer oriented and are not for the customer. I warn anyone that deals with them that they will be overcharged if you give them the opportunity and not be well versed on cars and mechanical problems. They have a nice building for a reason because they have been ripping the middle class Tallmadge and Akron people off for years. Anyone who wants save money and time, do not take your car to Chris punk a$$ car care. I bet they would charge $1000 for a brake pad job if they could get away with it. Lol. read more

Recently I took my SUV in for work at Christopher Car Care. I was extremely impressed with the customer service and excellent work. I appreciated how they worked around my schedule (they worked on my car when I was out of town on business trip). The owner called me explain the estimate and answered all my questions. I am pleased with their work and plan to use them again in future. I would highly recommend this business to friends and family. read more

Car went in for repairs. Quoted one price but upped charges once work was done stating the previous quote wasn't "out the door" cost so specifically ask for this when getting a quote. Dropped car off twice the night before but they never seemed to get to it til late afternoon and then rushed to finish it. Owner will lie to your face when they make a mistake and try to blame some made up problem not related to what you had it in for. Both times car had problems shortly after they worked on it. I suspect sabotage because I questioned the cost and the workmanship. Maybe some people get good service but a walk in with no connections may not be so lucky. Never going back again. read more

My dad took his car there and they tried pull the wool over his eyes with false not needed repairs. After reading other reviews and word of mouth in local coffee shops, they all said to look out for false repairs needed and if you told them you didn't agree, they would break things so you would need your car repaired anyways. I recommend going somewhere else. But if you do, use your credit card so you can dispute the credit card charges. read more
