I don't really get the big deal about this place. Maybe because it's really only the one breakfast places in town. I'd rather go to bagel world. There is usually a line. There breakfast is o.k. but pricey. $8 for a hungry man breakfast. $7 for banana pancakes. $5 for a kids breakfast. My son and I just had a very lackluster breakfast here. I got the eggs benedict and my son got a bacon and cheese omelet (if that what you want to call it) It was basically a scrambled egg wit with a slice of bacon on top covered with a plastic like slice of cheese. The eggs benedict were flavorless the english muffin was the best part. Cook crispy but lacked any butter. The hollandaise sauce had no flavor and thickened up to a paste. The home fries were very bland and cold. The best part of my meal was the Banana's Fosters coffee. The wait staff was friendly but it took a while for our breakfast to come out and it was all but lukewarm. The bill came to $28 bucks. I will not be returning to Christopher's Restaurant. read more

Decent food but expensive for what it is... The eggs are okay but they are diner eggs. ie. not fluffy, a bit over cooked and maybe even not mixed well so you get portions of just whites that didn't mix in. Also not a big fan of the French toast as it is made with thin bread that you would make toast with. With all that said, the food is okay. But you can go to brothers in wakefield and get similar food for 20 to 30% less. read more

We went there on a Sunday morning so we were expecting a wait but it was only about 20 minutes before we were sat. While we were waiting we were offered a taste of there cinnamon rolls, they were very good. (Just a tip: if your outside they will not bring them out for you to try, you must, be inside) The waitress was friendly and efficient and my coffee was always filled. I got the hungry-man special and ate the whole thing in 3 minutes! It was very good. My wife had gotten the apple strudel french toast and this was also very good. I have been going here for many years and no meal here has been bad. The staff are great and very attentive and the prices are very reasonable. The only issue is that it gets wicked busy especially during he weekends, so expect to be waiting a long time for a table. But the wait is so worth it and the food makes up for it . Best, best, best! Don't listen to the naysayers. This place is hands down the BEST breakfast place north of Boston. Wonderful waitresses. Food is always fresh and served hot. Coffee is delicious. Always clean and tidy. Can't say which is my favorite, eggs benedict, waffles or omelettes. My son LOVES the biscuits and gravy when they have it. There was a long wait (which is fine) for brunch and they gave us pastries for free (which were GREAT) ... But, all of our brunch meals were horrible. Very basic breakfast greasy-spoon food. Coffee is really weak and similar to cheap "gas station" coffee. Service was just ok (although very nice people). I asked for my eggs over medium and they were very very runny (hardly cooked IMO). Ya..we are fans also. Our usual fare of two over easy, bacon, fries and hash were done to perfection. We both got the Hungry man Special for breakfast and it was worth the extra dollar as coffee was included. Now the Coffee---well that was the only negative in our breakfast experience. Maybe it was just a bad coffee day here but the java was either, stale, burnt, cheap brand or a combination of all three. Atmosphere is what we like to call "plastic cafeteria style, but very clean and bright. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. But the coffee....better get tea or Hot chocolate. I really wanted to like this place, I did :( The pancakes were ok, nothing to write home about, the coffee, eh, ok...I was never asked if I wanted a second cup by our waitress, tho I heard other waitresses offer more coffee to their tables, not ours. My husband's eggs looked good tho, over easy and very perfectly done not runny, always a plus. The corned beef hash was decent, nice and crispy like I like it. But....there was something missing. The only bad part about the restaurant is if you don't ask to sit in a booth you might get one of the weird tiny tables they have piled on top of each other. Went there for breakfast this morning. The GF ordered an egg-beater omelet with ham, looked and tasted good. The home fries were good and the toast plentiful. I ordered potato pancakes with sausage and an egg. The potato pancakes were the same as McDonald's hash browns....wtf? What a disappointment, somebody needs to explain to them the difference. Nothing special about the sausage either. On the positive side, folks at the neighboring table ordered the specialty waffles and pancakes and they looked good. The server took a long time to cash us out and forgot the GF's sweetener, although she was pleasant enough. Very simple: great breakfasts, good space, good coffee, nice wait staff. What more could you want for breakfast? ONLY negative is how busy it can get on weekends. Early crowd is parents with little kids and late crowd is teenage wasteland. Best bet is to sqeak in between the two waves unless you like long waits. Other that that, two thumbs up. read more

We opened a fitness business near to Christopher's and found that they have healthy choices on their menu. We generally order take out and the order is complete, hot when necessary and delicious. It is nice to go to a restaurant and find choices that meet your dietary needs. The wait staff has always been friendly and helpful. I recommend this to every one. read more

Great breakfast/ brunch. The Buffalo chicken wrap here is the best you can get anywhere. I order it with extra chicken for the right condiment to meat ratio. French toast is amazing, excellent home fries, great coffee ( New England) sweet potato fries are superb. From everything I tried here I think the pancakes are the only thing that needs improving. I like Christopher's and especially that it is family owned and managed. They are in the kitchen, on the door, and serving guests. Today our party of four drew the long straw and had the good luck of having Jessica serve us. She was friendly, smart and helpful with suggestions one of which brought me lobster Mac and cheese, my favorite. It was great, flavor, presentation and loaded with lobster. As a Readingite I have to counter a suggestion made by another reviewer that most people in Reading don't know about Christopher's! It is a staple of our little suburb, and I have known a lot of kids from my high school who worked there at some time or other, and I definitely remember the way it was before the renovation, when the wait was ridiculous but everybody seemed to be willing to just sit there and take it. It is a family place and it is noisy, but I like the personal quality of it. You used to be able to watch the chefs making your eggs, and I still get that comforting feeling of knowing somebody actually took my omelet off the stove and onto my place about 30 seconds before it was given to me. I am so glad that I have this place down the street instead of going for a chain or something like that. It just feels better. read more

Went there on a late saturday morning for breakfast/lunch. Breakfast was 2 eggs over easy w/ pot roast hash. Eggs were cooked fine, and the pot roast hash had a really good portion and was great. My wife had the chipotle chicken wrap on wheat. She thought it was really good, and the sweet potato fries weren't greasy. Overall, I thought the food was good, and the value was middle of the road, not cheap, but not overly expensive. As for having to wait while tables weren't cleared, that's a legitimate concern. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated even though the people ahead of us could have been seated quicker if they just looked to see that a table was already cleared. Once seated, the waitress we had was absolutely great. Attentive, quick to bring coffee and refills, and checked on us to see if we needed anything without being too intrusive. read more

I've only been here a couple times but I'm excited to come back. Their breakfast menu has plenty of options. I love their omelettes. Only downside is they're always packed and it's a pretty small space. The servers still do a good job though to make sure you're served quickly. read more

Second time within two months that I was served an unheated open face turkey. This overpriced Reading landmark has seen better days - they can't keep up with the crowd. I had an issue with the cook when I was there. I just got a breakfast sandwitch, in the menu it says: meat cheese and eggs on an english muffin or bagel. I got bacon eggs and cheese on a bagel. There were only 2 bagel choices but anyway the sandwitch comes out with 1 egg. This stuff always happens to me, people not being truthful. So I asked the waitress and she say the lunch sandwitches have 2 eggs and breakfast have 1 egg then walked away... I got up, got a menu again then called her back and showed her what her own menu says. People, eggs implies more than 1.. she says "yea I can see what you mean" when I read the description I already know back. She asks if I would like another egg, so I say yes sure. She goes into the kitchen and returns in a minute to tell me "I will have to charge you for the extra egg" no thanks. I just want what I ordered. The sandwitch costs $4.50 which is expensive for a breakfast sandwitch. Christophers is full of itself and the place looks a lot nicer than it really is. Portions are small and coffee is really badly bland. Prices are high and they lie about the menu. Any good breakfast is going to put 2 eggs on a sandwitch anyway (regardless if its lunch or breakfast) especially if its $4.50. The waitress wasn't very smart either. Its an egg! Even if the chef says "no im charging for this egg on xmas eve. I DON'T CARE WHAT MY MENU SAYS." She could have said "okay" to the chef. Then just give me my egg I paid for already and not charge me and the chef would never know. But she came back with the chefs FINAL DECISION: I was wrong and he was right... This place is like a court. All they want is your money and don't listen to your arguement. Again mine was an (s) at the end of a word means more than one... I wont be going back. There's lots of better places around the area... when I left the lady up front says "bye" not thank you for coming or hope to see you soon, just a rather cold emotionless bye. So I said bye back. Wow I'm enamored. Everything about his place is super charming. I was greeted and smiled at by every employee that I encountered. The bathrooms are cute and clean. I'm in love with the menu. There are a lot of vegetarian options. The brunch menu is unique and the spinach and tomato eggs benedict is fantastic. The bar service was amazing, incredible. Christopher's holds the example about what the fuck service SHOULD be in this lovely city that we live in. read more
