Thankfully, it's just a lumpetomy but the process my mom has had to go through to prepare for the surgery; mammograms, x-rays, biopsy, isotopic injections in breast, mammograms with a needle injection showing the path to the exact spot, nuclear med scan, it's just a lot. Had a broken arm and leg at 1am. The women (Paramedics) from Acadian ambulance were amazing, tough and totally competent. The ER treated me quickly and efficiently. The following 10-night stay was a nightmare of being ignored, they never called a priest to anoint me despite 7 requests, my requests for a bed bath were refused, and every day they told me they were short-staffed. Thank goodness I'm not the patient in this situation. Jean Dymott was the emergency room doctor to see my aunt and she was the rudest, ugliest person I met here . She seems to be an undercover racist. She was very curt and dismissive. I would NEVER have her care for me. We need our issues taken seriously!! My girlfriend and I sat here for hours just waiting for someone to tell us something after she had a pregnancy issue. They took forever to sit us in a room AFTER they did her blood work and ultrasound. We're currently sitting in a room waiting for a nurse, doctor, or somebody to give us some kind of information so we can leave. Went to the ER with chest pains, they gave me about 6-8 sprays of nitro. Blood pressure went down. The restroom had dried fecal matter on the floor and toilet. The charge nurse was a complete jerk. She hates her life and you can see it in her work. Another employee was yelling about how she got drunk at her grandmas took a nap and still woke up tipsy. They kicked me out for recording that conversation. The POs security GAURD bipton cuffed me so tight it left a bruise all around my wrist for over a week. I'm medically retired army veteran. I hope they suffer a miserable life and I hope their children suffer too. I'm tired of shitty people treating others like crap. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My mother brought by father into the ER for chest pains (he was having a heart attack). So, lets start with the one or two (2) positives of this so-called hospital. Nurse Stephen in the Cath Lab was personable and able to communicate with my parents and family on a level that was understandable and ICU nurse, Josh was upbeat and friendly. Now all that is wrong with this facility considering, less than 8 years ago my father received great care here. Dr. McGrew who was polite but used too many medical terms that a lay person cannot understand, they kept my father in what was called a so called holding unit but it was more like a nurses lounge and many of the nurses were in and out like it was a party (being extremely loud) and my father was laying in there for over 5 hours in pain. This was not an appropriate situation for a patient that was then placed in an ICU room. The room he was placed in was at the end of the hall next to the door and every doctor, nurse, maintenance person, food service person and any other medical personnel came in and out of that door so it opened and closed probably more than 100 times a day. My father was in the ICU for 2 and a half days in which two (2) cardiologists, including his cardiologist at the time, Dr. Mark Fasulo in which he just saw less than six months ago, came in and offered no information or relieve for his pain. My father developed a fever and the hospital still put him in a regular room and then in less than 24 hours of that, with little to no attention from nurses or doctors, the hospital released him with fever and on a Friday after 3 pm in which he was not able to get all of his medications they prescribed. So literally less than 24 hours from his release from Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, my family had to bring my father to a hospital in Houston 3 hours from his home in which they confirmed he was having a heart attack still or again. This facility was once a Christian organization that cared about and for people. Now it needed my father out so they could have the room and did not care if he died because he easily could have died and possibly made his situation worse. Sounds to me it's all about money. The sad thing is so many rural area residents rely on medical facilities in Beaumont and something must be done to improve this situation so others do not have to experience this horrible care and treatment because I would hate to think someone dies due to this negligence but I would venture to say it has already occurred. read more

Great experience with my Dad's surgery at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital Beaumont. From the time he was admitted for pre-op, until his discharge 2 days later from the 5th floor, the staff was attentive, explained procedures, and compassionate. Made patients feel at ease with their friendly humor when needed. The surgeon was excellent & had good bedside manners. The Robotic surgery that was done was successful and made for an easier recovery. Nurses, nurse aides, housekeeping, dietary, respiratory staff all were great. There are hospital areas and patient rooms that could use an update - they're just old. Surgery waiting area needs a renovation. But everything was clean and had the essentials. Parking is all free: adjacent to hospital or parking garage across the street. Cafeteria food good. Overall very pleased with hospitalization & would choose again. read more

My friend went to this ER on Sunday because she was having classic text book symptoms of epiglottis. I'm a physician - an internal medicine trained hospitalist, and I know a medical emergency when I see one. When my friend got to the ER, a nurse practitioner was very underwhelmed by her complaints. I told her to ask to see a physician, and the physician also seemed underwhelmed by my friends complaints. They wanted to get labs and see what the labs showed before getting a scan an empirically treating. I advocated for getting the scan regardless due to her alarm symptoms. They ultimately agreed with me. They even did an oral exam on her which can be dangerous to do in cases like this. My friends CT came back confirming the diagnosis I suspected. It seemed as if the nurse practitioner Amanda Woltering didn't want me to be right about the clinical diagnosis I had made, and she lied and told my friend it was an abscess with "mild epiglottis." There is no such thing. You either have it or you don't. They transferred my friend to another community hospital for ENT for this "abscess" despite my friend asking to go to UT, an academic center with hopefully more competent providers. Once she was at the center they transferred her to, she learned there was no abscess. There was just epiglottis. my friend is being admitted for antibiotics and steroids and fluids. This was a very infuriating situation. I hope this case teaches both Amanda and her supervising attending something. read more

Long story short: My wife had a C-Section Tuesday 06/11/2019, everything goes great and the baby is born healthy. My wife is discharged from the hospital Thursday 06/13/2019. After 1 day passes, Saturday morning 4:30 am rolls around, and my wife is being rushed to the emergency room. The doctors found an infection & multiple blood clots. We're assigned a room again on floor 3, and we're assigned a nurse. After a few friendly hourly check up visits to my room, she comes in to administer the pain medication into my wife's IV. " What's your pain level," she asks. My wife responds with " 9. " This nurse looks her directly into her eyes and told her that she is not at a 9 pain level because the hospital requires tears to be coming out of patients eyes for it to be so. I thought she was just joking with us, so I responded with," than what's her pain level?" And she said " well it's not a 9. " For a husband who just spent the night holding his wife's hand the previous night while she screamed in pain, I was VERY offended by this. I asked the nurse to please have another nurse assigned to our room, and she told me that she needs to put the pain medication in her IV than she will get another nurse. NOW let me remind you before continuing to this next part, my wife had SEVERE post partum depression after her first pregnancy, and had already began having symptoms of this again even after a few days. The lady begins putting the pain medication into the IV while trying to justify her idea of what she said about the pain chart. I walked out of the room to grab the nurse by the name of Candice to please have this nurse leave my room. I walk back into the room and my wife is balling her eyes out because this nurse won't stop talking to her after she had begged her to drop it. I told this lady," MAM, my wife suffers from post partum depression please DO NOT say another word to her. " This nurse apologizes and says she didn't know that. Doctor Rising is great, but this nursing department needs to make some serious changes to their team and find some nurses who are considerate and more caring toward their patients. I have received wonderful care from my baby doctor at Christus hospital as well as the labor and delivery staff have been wonderful and I look forward to having our baby here. My husband and I are enjoying the baby classes as well as the sibling class and the infant toddler CPR. My problem is with the ER. I am suffering with extremely painful pregnancy carpal tunnel and I was turned away from the urgent care saying go to the emergency room so I went to the emergency room where I was crying in pain for at least 40 minutes after we paid $100 and when we finally got to see a doctor he was extremely uncaring & cold. He did not care about me at all. He turned me away right away saying I can't help you ma'am you're pregnant ma'am you are pregnant ma'am there's nothing I can do for you! It was awful! No ice pack no looking at my arm at all, no giving me Tylenol at all. It put me in extreme distress as he sent me away and I started getting sharp pains in my stomach because I was in so much pain and distress. The pain was unbearable at a level10. I felt like I was going to die I was afraid for the life of my baby. I went to neighbors emergency room where they contacted the labor and delivery staff at Christus because I was under distress with the baby with abdominal pain and skyrocketed blood pressure from the pain. The labor and delivery department took me right away but the emergency room at Christus should've sent me up to Labor and delivery themselves and made sure that me and the baby were OK because of the amount of pain I was in. They wouldn't even refund us the hundred dollars after not receiving any care from them and being sent away. We were told we were given a diagnosis. It was an awful experience and will never use the christus ER ever again. Don't take your love ones to this ER please! Neighbors emergency room is expensive but they will care for you and give you proper care in an emergency. The labor and delivery and the baby doctors are incredible at Christus but not the ER. This ER needs to be retrained on how to care about people and how to give proper care. Or minimum care to show people that they actually care about their lives when they're paying $100. I can't stress enough how awful it was. Never Again! read more

It is hard to believe that this is the type of care you get in the United States of America. My mom has been in Saint Elizabeth during the past year several times. And it is amazing how the basic elements of patient care are missed at St. Elizabeth. Waiting hours to get water, waiting hours to be cleaned, waiting hours for a nurse and sometimes never, to come to the call from a patient. I worked at St. Elizabeth's for 11 years, and was always proud of the care given. That was 20 years ago, and today it is the complete opposite. I would never wish this type of care on anyone. I am 74 years old receiving Medicare. I have been a patient at Christus for years. The last doctor appointment, they wanted $100.00 up front at check in, and could not tell me why, or if this will be a recurring issue. If I was made aware of this cost, I could have been prepared for it. Consequently, I missed my appointment. This was the first time this has ever happened. I am going to try again tomorrow. I don't know what these people are doing over there, and apparently they don't know either. I have been without my medication for 3 weeks for no stated reason. read more

Great service for my family! Father was just in for bypass. Nurses were fantastic. Attendants of all kinds were super friendly and helpful. Place was clean. Dad said the food wasn't bad. Had a great sandwich myself in the cafe. Again, all the staff was excellent. ICU nurses were fantastic too. Seemed clean and organized all around. Parking was easy too. Literally the rudest phone staff I've ever encountered. Very unprofessional and not helpful at all. My PHCS shows Christus on the list of providers, but the "lady on the phone" says they are not and she doesn't care what I've been told. Although everyone was really nice and multiple people, from multiple departments, checked on me during my stay, I had to wait very long periods of times when I really needed something. I'm not the high maintenance type of person but when I have to wait over an hour just to get an answer from the nurses station then there is a problem. Had it been a true emergency an hour is a long time to wait when people are 20 feet down the hall. This happened multiple times and the doctors had no regards for my time. I had to wait all day for a doctor to let me know my test results. Finally, the hospital is in desperate need of being renovated. Although it looks like they try to clean the rooms the building is so old there is little that can be done to make it feel clean. The building alone will keep me from returning. read more

I could not believe the rankings - it is true, not effective- long wait times- nurses complaining about other areas. GO somewhere else! We were supposed to be a direct admit, however we got to wait 9 hours for a room! Yippie! You are better off going to Houston! Nice people not able to make decisions - Our 90 year old patient did not get food, we felt like we were begging for service even though we were told it was not that busy. Please consider other healthcare venues that would be less aggravating. Administration on call did not meet expectations either! What a shame. read more

This hospital is trash. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. No one is helpful. And PLEASE don't go here if you have anything life threatening. You will die. The night staff of the Neuro ICU are the worst nurses I've ever encountered. They were literally waiting for my mother to die. I overheard a conversation they were unaware I could hear. Their only redeemer is the respiratory therapist, Shauna. She is really good and passionate about her work. I pray God blesses her with another employment opportunity so that she may be able to work with co-workers who are of her caliber. If you hate your job or are generally a sh*tty person, do everyone a favor and don't work in healthcare. read more

Horrible.. save yourself. Literally. One ER PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT staff. Rude staff. The wait was 3hrs for triage and almost 5 to see a PA. Waiting room is packed with pregant woman standing due to lack of seating, people bleeding everywhere. They also register you asking personal info such as name SSN, birthdate, address and personal health history ect.. while your sitting in the waiting room surrounded by patient's HIPPA violations everywhere as well as safety. All to get sent to another county where the real Drs live I guess. They'll send that bill though! read more

Horrible nurses and all around terrible experience. Way too much to go into here, but in short, the nurses save a few are horrible. They completely ignore you or interrupt you while you are trying to tell them they are hurting you when they are doing something that shouldn't hurt. When you ask for an administrator, they say okay, but then nobody comes. When you ask to be transferred to Baptist hospital because you have lost faith in their ability to care for you properly, they say okay but then don't do the transfer. If I could have walked, I would have walked out and went to Baptist, but I was completely immobile. It's a scary feeling when you can't move and the people supposed to be caring for you are more interested in their shift ending than you. I will never go here again and cannot say it more strongly, do not go here for your own good. read more

I did three routine blood tests , those were routine tests usually i do them through quest and they cost me under 100 dollars with insurance. This year I did them at Christus saint elizabeth in Beaumont and they charged me 996$. After insurance and everything I owe them 631$. Test are cbc, HGBA1C AND TSH. Nothing fancy just run of the mill test i get them every year . It is not a bad hospital but they blind sided me with the cost. Please please check around before you do any testing at Christus Saint Elizabeth. I am in the healthcare profession these cost should never cost this much. read more

Had my father in law in here for suspected heart problems. They kept on saying a procedure would be done from 6 am until 8 pm. At 8:30 pm they said tomorrow. Left him with no food all day. Communication from doctors to nursing staff is terrible. Basically no one knows what is going on here a lot. If he were in Houston this would have been done and over with. read more
