I've been seeing Dora for a few years now including when she was working at another shop. She's my absolute favorite and I can't say enough good things about her. She always has clean lines, great ideas, and is happy to put up with whatever harebrained idea I come up with. It's been such a pleasure being her canvas and watching her blossom into the best tattoo artist. I think I have at least 7 pieces by her now and she's the first one I message when I need something new. She's super responsive and communicative (which can be hard to find in a tattooer!). She moved for Chrome Gypsy about a year ago. The shop is a little bit hard to find if you don't know the area well, but a cool location in a very industrial part of town. The decor in the shop is pretty old-school, in the best way so looking around is almost enough distraction while you're getting tattooed. There are typically other artists there painting, drawing up tattoos, and tattooing so each experience is a fun time. They're so complimentary of each other and hype each other up for every tattoo. Overall, if Dora ever moves, I'm moving with her, but I'm super happy that this is where she landed for now. read more

I am so happy that I found chrome gypsy. I was always stand off because of thier pricing but boy are the worth every little penny. I have 2 tattoos done by 2 different artists there. And not because I was unhappy with any tattoo but because each artist is super solid I would want a tat from each artist. My first experience was a walk in tattoo done by max. Max is a super chill dude with experience . You can tell he loves what he does very passionate. Now I'm working on my cover up on my back with b-tosh. came in to get a simple club tattoo (just the symbol, 1x1), was told over double what they said the day before when i stopped in ($50 to $150) because "it's not just an outline"... after we were about to leave our tattooer went down to $100. proceeded to give both me and my boyfriend club tattoos WAY larger than we wanted, and he fucking filled the entire thing in with his LINING needle. did you read that? HE FILLED THE CLUB IN WITH CLOSE TO A FUCKING SINGLE NEEDLE. the whole thing. it took him 45 minutes to finish each club. i just went back to my regular tattoo artist just to finish part of my sleeve, and when she saw the club on my leg she gasped. at this point it was 6 months old the entire thing was scarred over and bumpy, you could literally see the circular scars he made using that fucking thin needle. she fixed it using the correct needle and it took five minutes. wish i could remember his name. better just to avoid the whole place. here's a picture of my boyfriends still fucked up club. here's my fixed one next to it. read more

You have to stop smoking weed in or around your shop. I grow weary of having to stare into someones eyes to see just how toasted they are - word of advice to a business owner - take that shit outside away from your business - and yes, it hangs in your clothes. For all the 5 star reviews - got it..but laying there getting my ink I have nothing better to do than to notice that they need to do some serious sterilizing, cleaning, and overall housekeeping. There were alot of folks doing nothing when I came in during the week except eating and talking (and smoking weed). It takes 15 minutes to give your work station a good cleaning - simple things - wipe the counter, neat, arranged, sweep and mop the floor, wipe of the table you have me laying on, empty the garbage... I had originally planned on a piece of custom work, but based on what I saw, smelled and observed going on I opted for a decent piece of flash with a minor modification. I figured that I probably could not go wrong if it was already drawn and the artist (Curtis) just had to follow the design. It turned out pretty good, a bit pricey for the simplicity in my opinion, based on the other work I have had done. read more

*******update 6/3********* Since writing this review, I recently received a message over yelp regarding my review, in which one of the people that have left reviews called me a fag and told me to get a life, that real tattooed men don't complain like little fags. Since I cannot specifically hold it against the shop for something one of their customers said, all I can say is if this type of behavior is indicative of the clientele that frequents this establishment, I would definitely caution anyone from getting a tattoo here unless someone that uses those types of slurs with strangers is someone you would associate. So if you are one of the many homosexuals that frequents las vegas, I would go elsewhere for a tattoo. ****************- Went here with my girlfriend to cap off an awesome weekend in vegas. She wanted, essentially, a piece of flash on her foot, about a quarter in size, just black. Not even an intricate design. I have the same design on my foot, but twice as large as what she wanted...my artist only charged me sixty, and this shop wanted a hundred. I wanted three letters in black inside my lip. A five minute job, fifteen with prep work. They wanted to charge me a hundred as well. We were also the only people in the shop, and they were not working on anyone. There were two artists available, and I even heard the one artist tell the other he didn't want to tattoo anyones lip, which is when he quoted me one hundred dollars for the piece. Now I understand that it is vegas and you're going to get charged a premium, but this place is off the strip, and tattoos could not be simpler than the ones we wanted. We probably looked like two drunk people just getting a tattoo on the spur of the moment, and I know tattoo shops charge people more if it is just a piece of flash they are getting and will not be return customers, and also because they are an annoying demographic to deal with. However, I have friends that tattoo, and I am heavily tattooed myself, I know when someone is trying to pull one over and take advantage... and that is exactly what happened at this shop. Maybe it was just those artists and I came on a bad day, but I would not recommend this shop to anyone next time I am in vegas. read more

I was told to use the GC and $10 cuz there minimum is $60. I drive all the way down there and they changed it to $50 GC and $50 cuz their minimum is $100. Terrible experience there. Artist was very high on what looked to be meth. Filthy environment. Not to mention I paid 1300 for my artwork which was previously agreed on at 800. When I spoke with the owner and proved that we agreed on a number he said it is what it is???????? O yea and after being robbed by my artist (Michael hull) he admits to not giving most the money to the shop because his boss(clean) was out for a few weeks. I attempted to show the texts where he acknowledges me having 800 credit left and him robbing his boss to clean and he doesn't do a damn thing. Never mind sorry he refers me to another artist there and says your more than welcome to get tatted by him.......and start the payment over. A teacher walks into a tattoo shop, and........... was greeted by really nice people and treated like a friend, not a wad of cash. I've been looking for an artist in town that does original, high quality work, and can fit me in with short notice. I found Chrome Gypsy, and was pleased to learn the owner, Cleen Rock One, hails from Illinois, just as I do. I stopped in to chat about having a chest piece reworked, and while he was booked solid (as many good artists tend to be) I found another artist there that does incredible work. Everyone was really friendly, and interested in listening to what I had to say about my piece. I booked an appointment with Justin for next week, and am so stoked about it. Just from my short experience, I can tell you that the shop was clean and organized, and the artists seemed professional and dedicated. This place is the shit! Cleen is a straight shooter and a rockstar tattooist! I started getting tattooed by Cleen back in 2000 at his shop outside Chicago. Needless to say, it was a bummer when he moved out to Las Vegas, but that just means I have to come hang out and get tattooed by him every time I'm in town! Nobody does it better. My two friends and I decided to get tattoos together while on a girls trip to Vegas. We all have tattoos so we know about quality. That being said, we decided to NOT go to some tourist trap on the strip and spend way too much money on crappy tattoos. We did some research and found Chrome Gypsy. Super clean amazing shop! Every single artist at chrome gypsy that tattooed on Friday the 13th was super friendly. The line was long but I knew the high quality work was worth the wait. They had a lot of flash sheets to choose from and Friday the 13th stuff was of course $13+$7 minimum tip. My boyfriend and I as well as a new friend got tattooed by Maxwell who is really REALLY good at his work but still humble, helpful and just an all around great guy. I will definitely go to maxwell for more work and encourage my friends and family to go there as well. Another thing that I feel the need to mention: as a girl, sometimes I am intimidated by tattoo shops and am scared of getting a creepy artist or I'm just worried about the area around the shop, but I wasn't freaked out by anyone at chrome gypsy. The artists were nice and respectful to me, my friends and from what I could tell everyone else in the shop. There is a parking lot right by the shop as well so you don't really have to walk anywhere scary/far to get to and from parking. I would feel comfortable going here alone to get work done or bringing my girl friends in, etc. read more

Chrome Gypsy Tattoo's artists are as good as it gets. The shop is clean, and extremely easy going and inviting. Cleen Rock One is the best in Vegas, and a nice guy to boot. Don't regret getting a bad job done at some of the more "trendy" strip shops inside of a casino...you are going to pay their insane rent, not for a good artist. The prices here are reasonable and the work is crazy good. The casino shops wish they could put out the kind of quality you get here, plus to me anyway, CGT is more "Vegas" than any of those affliction wearing, extreme-mototard d-bags in the HRH or Palms or Mirage.
