Chronic tattoo is unprofessional, unorganized and lacks customer service.(Artist smoking weed in the shop) I was extremely excited to come to this shop as a coworker of mine praised pirate Paul for his amazing work, but the excitement went out the window as soon as I interacted with my artist(Tony I believe) messed up gold/silver teeth I should have turned around when I seen a lady peeing in front of this shop... Anyways, I went in for a Friday the 13th tattoo/piercing special that was advertised on their Instagram page for $31 (can bring in your own design). Check in process was smooth, name called within 20 minutes, and the chaos began. The first thing my unprofessional tattoo artist said was "what do you want?" I told him I had the picture on my phone and said "why don't you have it printed? Let me see, you should have brought it printed now you're wasting my time to go and print it." I wasn't sure how to react because I was confused by the attitude as I was extremely excited by getting a new tattoo. He then had me text the image i wanted and left to the back of shop for a good 10 minutes leaving me standing around in the way of the other artists. This guy gave me attitude from the very beginning making me feel as if it were my fault they didn't mention to bring in a stencil.. blame whoever poorly advertised your promotion. He then yelled across the shop to tell everyone they needed to have their images printed out and told some younger guy to go on their Instagram to let people know they would only service them if a stencil was printed out. I should have walked away at this moment, but I'd been wanting a Friday the 13th tattoo for years and it was the first in 5 years that I've had off. Tattoo was over in about 15 minutes, wrapped my tattoo but didn't clean it or put anything on it.. Nothing on their Instagram stated it was CASH ONLY. I have gotten tattooed multiple times and other artist have no problem accepting card, or Epay. Offered cash app, venmo, and Apple Pay. He seemed bothered that I asked and said "no man, can't you read, cash only!" So i asked if he'd let me walk down to the atm across the street and I'd leave $20 cash along with my License to assure him ID be back(also mentioned to him my friend was sitting right next to him and I was her ride so I'd be back immediately.) he said "nah leave your wallet" I didn't feel comfortable leaving my entire wallet with personal information in it in the hands of an already proven unprofessional employee. I just had some issues with a stolen card and did not feel comfortable leaving it with him and said "I'm not sure I feel comfortable leaving it, but I'll leave $20 cash and my License" he replied "well I don't know how I feel about you not trying to pay me" as if I were really trying to get out of paying a $31 tattoo.. I left my wallet away from this man and proceeded to get cash to pay for my tattoo. INSTAGRAM POST ADVERTISED $31 tattoo. I would've HAPPILY tipped my artist if he made me feel comfortable or even excited about the work I just received. Instead he made me feel unwelcome. I ONLY paid the $31 because of how rude he was to me from the very beginning, didn't even bother to introduce himself or anything.. she wasn't around when I came back to the shop so I gave it to the guy that checked me in Initially and waited in my car since the shop was packed. Apparently Tony felt the need to HARASS A WOMAN about paying him $9 I was apparently short? He claimed there was a $9 mandatory tip when NOWHERE ON THEIR PAGE DID IT STATE A MANDATORY TIP. He threatened my friend to keep her hostage if she didn't pay $9.... $9... she only had enough to pay out her artist and was forced to pay him so she could leave. When she told me I went back in the shop and asked the guy why I was short if I paid him $31 then he started to scream "yeah motherfucker there's a $9 mandatory tip fuck you don't bother coming back you bean" and I just laughed at him and told him he was very unprofessional and would not even think about coming back to this soon to close establishment. He was enraged when I said that and followed me outside and threatened to pull out a gun on me.. over some words the grown man child couldn't handle.. he was upset from the very beginning, WHY IS HE THERE?? It was evident the color of my skin had a big part of why he treated me the way he did. Sad part is that he's in a very diverse neighborhood where a lot of tourists come out. If you can't handle it, boy, maybe go to Santee, or El Cajon. Your attitude would fit you best there. Was I excited to get a tattoo, hell yeah! Did I leave excited with the work I got done? Hell no! Will be covering up his crap work next week with a reputable, professional artist. I feel bad for the other guests that had to go in after me, I can only imagine how mad he was towards the middle of the day if he was already pissed at the start of his shift.. clown. read more

I had Nick give me a top right ear piercing with way too short of a rod. My ear started growing OVER the back end of the piercing after a few months. I had to have it painfully removed. I went in with my friend Jessica who got her bellybutton pierced. After falling out a couple days after getting it & then having him repierce it, the piercing then begun to SINK IN!!!! Because yet again, the rod was too short & he was using old tactics to pierce her bellybutton with a rod & not a clamp. BOTH of us were given terrible piercings. When Jessica's bellybutton piercing started to sink in we went back to chronic tattoo where we spoke with another piercer who said they had come across multiple other clients of Nicks who had bad piercings. I went with my friend to get a simple matching tattoo on our fingers. Sergio, our artist, was drinking and smoking weed whilst doing our tattoos. Along with this, he was degrading women and making extremely inappropriate comments toward my friend. We were both very uncomfortable by his flirtatious comments toward her and by his comments toward women in general. I have two other tattoos by him and those experiences were fine, but during this session too many lines were crossed. We left feeling extremely violated. I went in for a walk in today, with a friend, as I've been to this tattoo shop for five other tattoos-- majority of them on the bigger side and taking upwards of 3 hours to do. I've also gotten over five piercings there with no complaints on performance, professionalism and costumer service over all. The artist that was available for the small and simple tattoo I got was Sergio, I've had him before and that experience wasn't half bad. Today was COMPLETELY different. Starting off with the tattoo, he got set up and such, making small talk at first which wasn't an issue. It started out with him explaining some of his troubled past and love for acid-- okay. Then after tattooing myself, he moved on to mention how sexually attracted to red heads he was... in front of a red head, aka me. He proceeded to degrade and bash women, whilst still making overly seemingly flirtatious comments about red heads. He mentioned that he remembered me from a while back, rather suddenly-- to which I replied saying that at the time we last met my hair was black. He then replied "Yah but I always knew you were a red head, you just have the look" and continued, once again, raving about how "sexy" and "animalistic" red heads are. Even after stating my age, 21, he continued to lay it on thick and carry out the session for MUCH longer than needed. Over all my friend and myself, who went in for a small red string tattoo on our fingers, left the shop extremely uncomfortable and put off by the experience. I've been a client of Ronnie's since I was 18. And there's a reason why 13 years later he is still one of my most trusted and loyal piercers. He goes the extra mile to make you comfortable and explain what you're going to be experiencing so that there are no surprises he takes his time and makes sure after words you are ok. If he doesn't think a piercing is a good idea he won't do it. He has also corrected a couple of my previous piercings done spontaneously without precision and he's helped make them symmetrical. I know I can always count on him to make time for me even last minute. He treats everyone equally. I could go on and on about how much I appreciate this dude but I'd end up writing a 2 page essay. Worst customer service and didn't follow instructions from mentor. Internship girl didn't want to finish my tattoo and they charge $60 for the tiniest tube of numbing cream. Also they have Nazi art in the back and don't accommodate people with mental illness. I have anxiety and Amber kept digging into my leg at an angle giving me scarring and also was yelled at by the owner and their employees to "get the fuck out" after I paid them to give me a tattoo that we consulted on a day before receiving. Not only did she change the size without telling me but she had never done shading on skin before and told me it would be free since she's new to it. She blamed it on my shaking from the pain after paying for numbing cream that didn't work at all. Might've been how weird she was angling the gun. Never stepping foot in that shop and honestly they've broke. So many broken regulations for a safe space specifically tattoo shops. Don't come to this place if you're looking for a secure spot to keep going back to. Good for the thrill of it but fuck Chronic Tattoo. Mija is one of the best piercers I have ever come I contact with. She awakened my love for body modifications and I don't think I will ever go to an other piercer. I went in to get my nipples pierced the other day and she made what normally be extremely painful to beyond tolerable. She makes the whole experience on a whole inviting and personal. I would recommend you come down and get a piercing from Mija I'd you are looking for a piercing and if your looking for tattoo work there is a staff of incredible artists who are more than capable to fulfilling all of your tattoo needs. I am always so impressed with the work I see out of this shop.. I would have given you 100 out of 100 if the scale was more in depth but since it isn't 5 stars it is.
