Glass display cases, refrigerator cases and wooden shelves show off all of the days specials. Dozens of different pastries and desserts are there, begging to be sampled. I remember seeing the owner on the news just before Easter discussing the new location that has been delayed but coming soon to the Eastern Hills Mall . We walked in and were IMMEDIATELY greeted with mask covered smiles and an eagerness to help us. It was the owner and perhaps her daughter ... This is a small take out bakery ...there is no where to sit and eat just FYI But It is beautifully decorated and everything is displayed perfectly. Anywho ... she had cakes (to purchase by the slice) BAKLAVA, cheesecake minis, lemon bars, strawberry bars, cream puffs , cookies and more. There was a beautiful chocolate cake , and an almond raspberry cake we opted for 2 slices of the latter one. The lemon bars are HUGE so we got one and we selected a piece of baklava. Our tasting experience at the Lancaster location was great, Leah was very informative and helpful and able to accommodate our group. This bakery is so cute! It doesn't look like much on the outside, but you won't be disappointed once you walk on in. In fact, I thought I put the wrong address in my GPS thinking that maybe I just went to the place where the goods are made and not the storefront, but it is all together in one. Once you open the doors, you will start drooling at the sight of all the homemade Polish goodness. Everything looked delectable! I stopped here on two separate occasions and saw that their cookie/cake cases change with a variety of sweets (I'm sure that some items are always available, but it was really nice to see different seasonal sweets being offered). The one time I was there, I overheard a worker describing a cookie, explaining that its frosting was like a cannoli cream. Yum! They also have a cooler and freezer stocked with house made kielbasa, pierogi, soups, glombki, and other Polish specialty items like pickle soup. I have had their chrusciki, placzek, and pierogi. All were top-notch and made as they should be. I live in lancaster but have never stopped at this bakery. On Thursdays they have free placek if your first name is the "name of the day". My name popped up and so I decided to stop by. I also purchased a birthday cake macaroon and a pastry heart. The pastry heart was fresh and soft on the inside and had a crunch on the outside. Best I've had in years. The macaroon was large in size but it was awful. The particular flavor I purchased tasted like sugar but also had that weird flavor of chemicals like food coloring or something. I needed a last minute cake made for my daughters graduation from college. It was my fault I didn't plan early and called in favors to to get this done. EVA (the pastry chef) spoke with me personally and as busy as she was, she was absolutely incredible and incredibly nice. This cake was done in under a week last minute and EVA (and her team) did not disappoint - it not only was beautiful, it was the best cake I have ever eaten. A Facebook friend tagged me in a post from this bakery. The bakery has a name of the day and if it's your name, then you'll get free Chrusciki. I've never been here but I wanted to check out this place. They have a very small parking lot, right in front of their bakery. It was full when I got there, so I parked just past it. On the door, there is a sign stating that they are open and asking that only five customers come in at a time. There is a sign next to it asking customers to please where a mask while inside. I decided to buy a few things for myself, since I drove all that way for free Chrusciki. They sell pierogis, meats, and a few other things but I was only interested in their awesome looking baked goods. I bought a HUGE peanut butter cookie, two cuccidatis, a peanut butter cookie whoppie pie with strawberry frosting in between the cookies, and a pastry that I was told is similar to a cupcake but more like a pie crust underneath. It has white frosting on it and I'm looking forward to eating it tomorrow. The peanut butter cookie was fantastic as were the cuccidatis and the Chrusciki. I wanted more cuccidatis but they were $19.99/lb so I only bought two. A friend had ordered her wedding cake from this company. It was really delicious!!! (Review is for their cake decorating class ONLY - not the bakery itself). I kept seeing photos of fun-looking cakes pop up on my Facebook feed and eventually I gave in and reserved a spot at one of Chrusciki Bakery's locally famous classes (find cakes/dates on their FB page or website). In a ~90 minute class, you'd learn how to create a specific design and hopefully not have one of those terrible #fails you see on TV. Our instructor was awesome, going over things step-by-step with great demonstrations and letting us practice the piping work on parchment paper before applying things on the cake itself. She had her pacing perfect...not so fast you can't keep up with her instruction, but not so slow you get bored. All of the tools we needed were provided, so you can literally show up empty-handed. At the end of the night, you'll box up your cake to carefully take home. I'm subtracting a star because even though the class itself was awesome, and my cake looked better than I had expected, it wasn't very tasty. We used a pound cake (rather than a light, fluffy cake which I normally expect from bakeries) and they added shortening to the buttercream icing. In theory that makes it easier to pipe, but it didn't have the richness of an actual butter buttercream. For once, my cake was literally too pretty to eat! At least I saved the calories! read more

As yesterday was National Pierogi Day a friend suggested Blueberry ones from here. l had been here once in the past to buy a Placek that was highly touted and it wound up being expensive, $8.75, and dry. ... Anyway, when l got there and saw the Pierogi, l had to laugh as they were similar to the miniature ones that are sold in the frozen food section of local supermarkets. l bought them anyway, on sale - 12 for $5.50, along with 2 large peanut butter cookies for $5. l was looking forward to the cookies and ... they were also very dry. This place prides itself - as advertised - on family members coming to the United States and starting the bakery 100 years ago. l can give odds that those family members didn't make dry baked goods, miniature pierogies and charge exorbitant prices to establish their business as it is today. read more

We had a potluck one night and someone brought an apple turnover from Chrusciki. We originally thought that the person baked it herself and we really enjoyed it. My wife remembered that it was brought over in a package and must have been purchased. So I dug through refuse to find the label of the package! We searched online and realized that there was one in Lancaster on the way home from work so I stopped by. There wasn't a yelp page for it so I created one while I waited. I ordered another apple turnover and it was just like the one we had before. I haven't tried anything else but I'm definitely going to. Their cakes look really cool (from their website) and they said that it's best to pre-order about 48-72 hours in advance. I'll have to wait for another occasion but I'll be trying out their cakes soon enough. The turnover itself was not too sweet, crisp and fluffy on the outside and moist on the inside. It was like a little hug in my mouth. I loved the balance of the pastry without it feeling like it was jammed with unnecessary filling or sweetness. I'm taking a bit of a risk by going 4 stars so early on but my hope is that they won't let me down on my next order and they'll maintain or improve this rating. read more

This bakery is fabulous! They had a large variety of sweets to pick from! I wanted one of everything but resisted. I picked up a cannoli, cherry topped cheese cake and slice of their chocolate cake. The cannoli was delicious! The shell was deliciously crispy and the filling was very flavorful with the perfect creaminess and chocolate chips. I also had the cheesecake which is a delicious firm cheesecake. I chose to get it with cherries. The flavor of the cheesecake was not hidden by the fruit. The cake remains for later. I also bought a half loaf of their rye bread. That will also taste good later I'm sure. At Easter I remember seeing them at the Broadway Market so I strongly suggest going to one place or the other soon! It's a varied price range because of the items in the case. So one of my family members loves this place because they did an awesome wedding cake for her. It was really really good. For her birthday this year she wanted the same flavor, filling and frosting for her birthday. That was the driest cake I've ever eaten and when I bit into it it was crunchy. I don't think is supposed to be crunchy. Another complaint I have is there was WAY too much frosting on this cake and not enough filling. We were referred to Chrusciki by many friends who have used them for wedding and shower cakes. We called and set up an appointment for our complimentary cake tasting and we knew THAT DAY we had to book Chrusciki for our wedding. The cake and frosting flavors were phenomenal and the prices were competitive. We cancelled our other cake tastings and booked immediately. They delivered our cupcake tower all the way out to Batavia, NY and set up our cupcakes and cake topper just as we wanted. The wedding cake coordinator was fantastic with communication and made sure our cake was perfect down to every last detail. I know at weddings there is always a ton of cake left over, but we only ended up with ONE last cupcake (that was quickly picked up by the best man). We ordered two pies to be picked up the day before Thanksgiving. I can't even describe how disappointed we were!! The two pies ordered were an apple and cherry pie. We ended up throwing them away after we cut into them on Thanksgiving. The cherry pie, my husband's favorite, could not be served because the inside was watery, soupy and uneatable. The apples in the apple pie were very dry and also thrown out. Very very disappointing!! I will never order pies from Chrusciki Bakery again.
