Splurged on a dozen of these large gourmet, 12 different flavors, 1 dozen cupcakes. Drove out of my way for them, but well worth it. Bakery is nothing to look at, but the cupcakes were beautiful, in a beautiful clear bubble pack that was solid. Almost a work of art. The flavors were all well received. Small store with the cute vibe of a playful workshop. The sweet and colorful interior made me feel like I was inside a children's book page. A giant cupcake painted on the wall adds even more drama to the whole picture. I agree, I'm not the one who should judge the taste of cupcakes, but what I tried was very good. The texture of Cookies and Cream was moist with a firm beautifully swirled frosting made of vanilla buttercream. The Butterfinger was even better. The best thing about my experience was that it didn't feel like eating pure sugar. All ingredients were nicely balanced and truly satisfying. We visited on Saturday very early afternoon. I knew the best way to have what is most desirable is pre ordering. From the eight kinds of cupcakes offered this day, we were able to have just two. Everything else was already sold out. Babycakes Cupcakery offers more than just regular cupcakes. I saw photos of beautifully decorated mini cakes and jumbo cupcakes. I would definitely treat someone I like with their luscious creations. Not usually a cupcake fan but these are delicious! Come here early because if you come near the end of the day they will be sold out or very limited on their varieties. Talking to the owner she usually has around 6 flavors a day and rotates them daily. She said there is usually a chocolate and vanilla bean each day. There are so many interesting flavors like key lime, cannoli and smores. What made these so good was the frosting. So light and delicious. Not the usual rich and sugary frosting that you would get on a mass produced store bought or a frosting you buy in the store. The cake itself was ok but that frosting.... The store is in the newer plaza/apartment complex on main at Goodrich. The store itself is small with a couple tables to eat at if you can't wait to get home. A reason to move to Clarence - Babycakes Cupcakes. Very cute store. In a house front on Main in Clarence. She makes a bunch of flavors every day. I should have asked if they are posted somewhere, but since I'm flexible on flavors it doesn't matter much to me. But she probably posts on FB like others do. I picked up 4 for dessert recently. One was the berry one. That was our fav. So good. Then a chocolate one with crunch bars I think. Very very good. There was an "orange chocolate" one that is really good, and unique for the area. We loved the other one as well but I don't remember what flavor that was, sorry. They sell for $2.50 each or 4 for $9. $15 for 6. Her pricing is perfect. So are the size of the cupcakes. Two words...SO GOOD!!! All I can say is that Dawn really makes the best cupcakes! They are so yummy! I like the fact that they're served room temperature I do not like refrigerated cupcakes. This was by far the best cupcake in the Buffalo area I have had thus far. I called ahead to order a jumbo cupcake and after a few questions my anniversary cupcake was ordered. I picked it up that next Saturday and it was beyond my expctations. We were celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary and the colors matched our wedding perfectly. The I am not fond of fondant but hers is sweet and slightly chewy and utterly delish. I ate all the beautiful decorations. The cupcake was moist and such a decadent chocolate. If you are looking for fresh, daily-made, moist, scrumptious cupcakes, this is the place for you. I drive 30 minutes one-way to get to this little Cupcakery in Clarence when I get the cravings for a good cupcake and it's totally worth it. I am a big fan of the "life by chocolate" cupcakes and they are the most moist, well balanced (as far as sweetness goes) chocolate cupcakes I've ever had. I'm generally not a fan of vanilla flavored cakes but when this places sells out of the chocolate ones, I have gotten the vanilla ones and they aren't bad either. Generally there's a good variety of cupcakes daily (around 7 different kinds) and flavors seem to change daily as well. I think this establishment is a one woman show and I gotta hand it to her for building such a great business. She often sells out of these delicious cupcakes so it is a good idea to call ahead to check on availability. Cupcakes are $2.50 each or $25 for a dozen which is more than fair when comparing to the quality of what you are getting. read more

This is a very small cupcake shop in Clarence. The flavors are limited, and they were out of a few of today's flavors when I arrived at 1 or 2 this afternoon. However, $2.50 for a gourmet cupcake is nothing to sniff at, especially for the specialty cupcakes I picked for my boys that were served inside chocolate chip cookies. I'm not sure what flavor they were, either vanilla or chocolate chip, with what appeared to be a chocolate ganache filling, but they were a big hit. I had a vanilla bean cupcake. The cake was excellent and flavorful. The frosting tasted like it was whipped cream instead of buttercream, but that's not something I'd hold against them since it's strictly a matter of personal preference. If you think buttercream is too sweet, you'll probably prefer the more subtle sweetness of these cupcakes. Cute shop. The only real downside is the limited selection. read more

Wowwwy, delicious! A few days ago I got a 4 pack of cupcakes. My favorites were her scarlet silk (red velvet) which is insanely better than red velvet box cake mix, really there's no comparison. Also, a candy bar cupcake with only the best candy bar baked right in, a Twix! The texture alone of both these cupcakes is enough to make you smile while you chew, let alone the taste. I am someone who cannot simply drive past a cupcake shop, I have tried, but I always end up having to stop in and try a cupcake. So after losing the battle to drive by my girlfriend and I entered the little shop and took a few minutes before making a selection. They had probably a half dozen of so flavours available and I went with the vanilla bean cupcake (or so I think, either way it was a vanilla cupcake and I inhaled it) and it was very good. This is the kind of shop you stop in when you don't want a massive sugar coated cupcake that might give you diabetes (which are amazing, I'm not talking badly about them) I will definitely be returning to Babycakes and picking up some more soon! read more

Used Babycakes for my wedding. Came for a cake tasting and they had a really cute set up. Ordered 5 different favors. One flavor I REALLY wanted was dirt and worms (something different and fun for a wedding). However, I received just plain chocolate instead. Very very disappointed. WELL LET ME JUST SPELL THIS OUT IN ALL CAPS.......I HIT A HOME RUN STOPPING HERE!!!!!!!! On the way back to the office with a coworker he passed a snarky comment about the name Babycakes as we drove by and saw the sign. I then took a look for myself so we decided to turn around. Let me tell you I like cupcakes, even though I am not much of a sweets person I have had plenty of "gourmet" cupcakes in my day from all over the country. They are always very dry or bland or think putting 50,000 tons of icing on it will make it better for some reason. So.......I wasn't expecting much but I am glad I gave Babycakes a try. Walked in to what looked like a pretty empty shop. Saw a very small lonely table off in the corner big enough for two people. We were greeted by a very friendly woman at the front counter. After getting a description of each cupcake she had to offer that day I picked up on the fact she is either the owner, the baker, or both. You could sense her passion of baking by her descriptions of each cupcake. Not many selections and out of those selections not many were remaining of each flavor but that was ok. I picked up a tasty variety, had some nice small talk and off we went. Later on that night I had a cupcake with my daughter after dinner. I was blown away on my first bite. These cupcakes actually tasted like cupcakes!!! not those boring dried out chunks of filling I described from earlier. I tried a nestle crunch cupcake, a butter finger, and one that was made out of a cookie but had a melted twix bar in the middle of it. What an idea!!! This place was great!!! I used to drive by this place every day on my way home from work and school and I wanted to stop on every single one of those days just because the parking lot was usually empty and I felt bad. Also it looks very cute and I am a sucker for small businesses especially bakeries. When I did finally stop I was very impressed with the owner and how nice and sweet she was. Even though the bakery was slow and I'm sure she doesn't get a whole lotta traffic, she looked very busy and I'm assuming she was making cupcakes for an event or wedding. I know I would love to have her make cupcakes for my they look perfect and I almost didn't even want to eat the ones I bought. Unfortunately and fortunately, I did ruin the cuteness and decided to try them and I loved them. The only thing you should know to expect is that they are usually unique flavors and I think the only "normal flavor" was vanilla and it even then it wasn't your typical out-of-the-box cupcake. They were full of flavor and creativity and I would recommend this bakery, or cupcakery, to anyone looking for some awesome cupcakes for an event, wedding, or just a sweet snack on your way home. read more

Really really good cupcakes. Super tender and moist(so glad I get to use the word tender in a yelp review)These cupcakes are incredibly fresh and always go quick. The problem with other cupcake places is that they let their cupcakes sit in a display cooler and they don't sell fast enough , soooo, if you get an old one(cupcake) it tastes awful taking on the flavor of the cooler and the other things in the case. Not with dawn though (she's the owner) these babies are hot off the presses daily, and don't go into a cooler, she uses all things natural and scratch made and to top it all off the customer service is beyond friendly! I have been in Florida for a while and haven't seen a snowfall in 7 years so over the past 2 days visiting Buffalo I've really been enjoying the storm. My girlfriend's brother lives right next door to this place and while shoveling the shared driveway and his sidewalk I took my enthusiasm over and wanted to shovel their sidewalk for them. To my surprise they came out and offered me a half a dozen cupcakes, and they are incredible! Everyone in the house loved them and commented on how nice the business owners are. I went with a strawberry vanilla and was not disappointed. The frosting was very rich and not overly sweet like other bakeries have. I forgot to check in on Yelp when I went to Babycakes last Saturday afternoon. I went on very highly recommendations! Walking in, it's such a cute little shop. Very welcoming, clean, and smells amazing. I was greeted by the owner Dawn. She is such a nice woman. We actually talked for quit a bit, and she was telling me all about her business. You can really tell that she loves what she does and puts her whole heart into every cupcake! On to the cupcakes... I bought a pineapple upside down cupcake and banana cupcake to take home for my husband and I. I forgot to mention, she had about 6 or 7 flavors available. She says she switches flavors all the time, and has tons to choose from. The cupcakes are not HUGE, which is nice, they are a perfect size. They are also NOT covered in tons of super sugary pasty frosting, her frosting to cupcake ratio is spot on, and the (I believe it is buttercream) frosting was delicious!! I am new to the area. I talked to the owner before purchasing the cupcakes. She was pleasant and informed me that her cupcakes were moist which sold me. Unfortunately when I ate the cupcakes it was a different story. Not only were they NOT MOIST but they didn't taste anything like the description. These are, by far, the best cupcakes in the area. The owner is so friendly and very passionate about baking. She is proud of the fresh ingredients that she uses and is clearly committed to excellent customer service. I normally don't like frosting. I scrape it off of pretty much all cupcakes that I eat. What is not to love? Dawn is a complete doll and the most friendly proprietor imaginable. We have had cupcakes for our son's birthday, brother's birthday, and random 'Mommy is pregnant and deserves cupcakes' cupcakes. Everyone raved about the birthday cakes, as the best they had ever had. I cannot help but agree! I am not much of a frosting person, but hers is so light and fluffy and just perfect. Completely delicious and beautiful cupcakes. It's been two years since my last review of Babycakes and I thought my fellow Yelpers deserve to know that my love of Babycakes has not wavered - if anything it has grown exponentially! Dawn is amazing and so incredibly talented. I am in awe of the details and attention she puts into her work. Cake Boss who?! Dawn makes all those TV bakers look like amateurs. The only buttercream frosting I like is from Babycakes. The frosting is so light and delicious. And the cupcakes themselves? Forget about it! Second to none! My favorites include: pumpkin, peanut butter lover, and vanilla bean. My recommendation: if you have Dawn do a special order for you, give her full creative reign. She is absolutely incredible. She made cactus-themed cupcakes for me that were almost too perfect to eat! I give Dawn and Babycakes my highest recommendation. I can't say enough great things about Dawn & her cupcakes! I live in Michigan, but was going to be in Elma for Thanksgiving, so all my ordering and interactions were online--both Facebook and email. We had a good size order, but Dawn really worked with us to put together a wonderful assortment of cupcakes--even a single special decoration one! And this was the week following all the snow! The cupcakes themselves were sooooo good! Like most of the other reviewers, our group really liked the ratio of butter cream to cupcake, and the cupcakes were a great texture--fluffy, but didn't disintegrate with the first bite. Baby cakes new location at the Willow Square is fantastic. The décor is even more appealing than her previous location. The paint colors an the walls look as yummy as her cupcakes taste.
