When asked about ownership of the Google page, I was told, "We've asked them 100 times to take that down & they won't." Doing what I do for my FT job, I know how these things work & that's not it. As for our tasting, we ordered a slice of cassata, a tiramisu tower, a pecan bar & a peanut butter bar. The almond flavor of the cassata cake layers was AMAZING, but that's where the pleasure stopped. For the rest of our experience. The cassata frosting was not whipped cream & instead quite hard and unpalatable (like Crisco was used). The tiramisu tower didn't have any coffee flavor in it. The Pecan bar was loaded with pecans, but the filling was unflavored goop. The peanut butter bar was like eating sand. There were no restrooms that appeared to be available for hand washing. All in all, with a cup of coffee, I'm glad it was only $24. On to the next bakery to find a suitable cassata cake for my mom's Big Birthday next year. read more

I have been patronizing this bakery for many years and have always enjoyed their delights. Unfortunately, after today's purchase, I don't think I will be visiting it anymore for a quick assortment of cookies. The problem wasn't the cookie itself. The dough on all were moist and tasty. The problem was how much frosting was on each of the cookies which made them way too sugary sweet. The assortment of light Italian cookies, the ones I've always bought in the past, were always a great treat with tea. However, I don't remember ever getting ones that had this much frosting on them before. If it was just for me, a quick fix of taking off 3/4 of the frosting made them edible. However, for $20 for a small box it's not an ideal practice, especially if you want to put them out to serve to guests. Disappointed but moving on. read more

The hello dolly bars that were full of butterscotch and are basically seven layer magic bars; they're a smidge dry but still delicious. The cake pops were ok, nothing spectacular. The cannoli was fresh and had a great smooth and creamy filling. Then the star of the show for us; the Cherry cheese danish. Absolutely massive, this danish was enough for two people and had the perfect ratio of Cherry and cheese filling that wasn't tart and in a flaky buttery pastry crust. Highly recommend you stop in and give this place a try. We will definitely be going back next time we're in the Niagara Falls area. read more

Oh my, what a bakery. Stepping into Muscoreil's is like no other bakery around. Hands down, the look, the feel...the SMELL. They oughta bottle the smell, it's comfort, sweetness, memories, childhood, everything good in life in the very air inside! Phil was our cake advisor for an upcoming wedding. He knows this business! He took the information, had input, ideas, advice and all very concisely presented without any imposition. After greeting and seating us, then taking our loved ones details, Phil could point out the cake displays to highlight his points. He left to grab us each a water glass, forks and a plate with four slices of various cakes to sample. We have been on other tasting and this one was like you were tasting the real thing, not a leftover, dry slice. He retreated for a while and that was really nice, we were able to chat amongst ourselves as we tasted, reacted, sipped water and repeat. It turns out, we could have been happy with any one of these as the wedding cake. Each piece was marvelous. We were impressed that we did not have to place a deposit or make a decision that day, since one of the grooms was out of town. Phil gave us a take home box for him to sample, with a sheet describing each slice. Phil instilled total confidence in every aspect of this part of their wedding and I believe they have selected Muscoreil's. Here is a description of the cake samples: 1. White Almond Raspberry Swirl with vanilla frosting and raspberry mousse and raspberry jam filling. It was out of this world delicious, apparently their most popular cake and likely the chosen one. 2. Chocolate Marble cake with chocolate chip cream filling 3. White cake with strawberry filling and vanilla frosting 4. Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla frosting The frosting was JUST RIGHT, not too sweet (is that an oxymoron or what?) as frostings go. The fillings were SMOOTH as filling should be. The cake was perfectly baked and NOT dry at all (yes, other places served dry cake). Afterwards, we looked in all the cases, see the photos! I ordered a slice of the white almond raspberry swirl cake to go for HoneyPie and a chocolate chip cookie (yes, ONE, they are the size of a DINNER plate) half dipped in chocolate and a peanut butter cookie, and a piece of baklava for HoneyPie. My favorite so far has been the chocolate ganache cake which is pleasantly not too sweet and has the right amount of chocolate. The second item I tried was the Napoleon which was very tasty except the pastry was a little tough. Probably because it's been sitting in the cooler, but still a little under baked. I figured if it was good enough for Vanessa Williams it was good enough for me but , turns out not. I placed a 100 dollar deposit for my wedding cake but then had little to no communication. We are a military family and were planning from Texas so communication was key. I emailed and called several times ( now we are a month out and still no one has reached out to finalize). I was told that Phil would call me back and he never did. Finally, i decided to use my deposit just for some treats for the rehearsal dinner, placed the order and paid for the amount it was over. NOW PHIL calls! Phil tells me that it's under new ownership and if i didn't order a wedding cake, then the deposit is technically not valid. That i could order my desserts but he would meet me in the middle and give me 40 dollars off my order, but I'd still need to pay for the whole order ! This is because the old owner got that money and if i ordered a cake well then , he could make more money. With my current order he would loose money. Like that's not my problem. Then he goes on to explain to me the deposit was non refundable. But that's not what my contract sys. Then he starts to yell at me. So I'm out my deposit and now I'm left feeling Can i add a PS that when i did fly in from Texas for a cake tasting ( and other errands ) they were very inflexible and we were only able to manage having them put the cake in a box for us to taste. Just overall a poor experience. If you are looking for a great experience then head to just say cheesecake because that company went above and beyond while i was in a pinch due to this fiasco. read more

I love this place. It's my go to for Italian cookies and custom cakes. My wife loves their lemon cake and I get it for her birthday each year. Their products are always fresh and delicious. I hosted a graduation party for my son and I coordinated themed customized cookies and cake which were perfectly executed. The mini desert platter was lovely and I especially enjoyed the peanut better chocolate cups. I spoke with Savannah, Steven and Emily several times to make sure they my vision was inline with what they were able to create. Muscoreil' s created a Fondat elephant, which is the University's mascot, and was placed on a customized cake. Let me first say that I may be overly critical of my experience with Muscoreil's because I had high expectations from their promise of "exquisite", "upscale", and "European-style." When I stepped into Muscoreil's, I was expecting exactly what was promised. Alas, I found myself very much disappointed by the presentation of the desserts, and the experience continued to go downhill from there. About a decade ago, I had had the pleasure of living nearby a couple of really good French bakers. I had visited their shop quite frequently until I moved away. The kind of wares that their shop had offered - delicate patisseries, melt-in-your-mouth eclair, gorgeous flaky tarts, scrumptious cakes - was what I had eagerly anticipated in the weeks leading to my visit to Muscoreil's. Certainly the pictures on Muscoreil's Yelp page and Muscoreil's website look promising. When I stepped into Muscoreil's and peered into the display cases, my stomach sank. Instead of delicate patisseries, I saw enormous desserts. Everything was in gigantic proportion. The towers - which admittedly sounded delicious at the time - looked like entire meals on their own; I didn't even dare entertain the thought of buying one as an after-meal dessert. The turtles looked so large that I didn't recognize them for what they were at first glance. The eclairs looked were easily twice the size of regular eclairs at other bakeries and four times as large as mini eclairs. The only ones that were regular size were the cakes, cake slices, and cookies. Since I was in the mood for desserts, I decided to give Muscoreil's the benefit of doubt and ordered a slice of their signature white chocolate almond raspberry cake, a slice of chocolate cake for the hubby, and an eclair each for us. All of these were taken to-go. Hubby is not picky about his cake as long as it's not dry and said his chocolate cake was good. My white chocolate almond raspberry cake was definitely not dry; it was moist. However, I didn't taste any almond. There was a slight hint of white chocolate in the frosting, and the filling was raspberry jam. Other than that, the cake was sugary sweetness, and that's it. It wasn't a bad cake, but I wasn't impressed and didn't feel like I must run back for another slice. Well, we would have the eclair for the next day; maybe that would be the saving grace, I thought. Now let me say that my husband and I both really like eclair. We both love Bavarian cream. We love eclair with Bavarian cream, which is what I was promised these eclairs would be. From the first bite of the Muscoreil's eclair, it tasted wrong. The texture was all wrong. The crust was too sturdy and crusty and bread-like, almost like a cross between a soft pretzel and a bread, and certainly not what I had pictured what an eclair should be. The Bavarian cream was not creamy and luxurious but thick, chunky, and clotted; it was like biting into a thick, clumpy mixture of butter, flour, and cream. The more I ate the eclair, the more unpleasant it became. The only part of the eclair that tasted good was the chocolate glaze. I ended up having to throw the rest of it out. I felt so ill from the rich aftertaste lingering in my mouth that I couldn't eat for hours afterward. I asked my husband about his experience with the eclair afterward, and he told me he had experienced similar thing; he had also had to throw his eclair out unfinished and hadn't been able to eat his lunch afterward. I have never known him to throw out dessert and sweets unfinished before this, especially eclairs with Bavarian cream. Then again, what we had had wasn't really eclairs with Bavarian cream. I don't think I/we will come back to Muscoreil's. read more

I asked if we could use the back room, because a magician would be there while we were having cake for about 45 minutes. Was then told I was not allowed to have a party there.
