I'm always looking to get off the beaten path and find the nuggets that are tucked away in neighborhoods and this place is one. I have had it bookmarked for a while but don't get Racine very much. This is definitely an old school neighborhood pizza place and it looks like its family run and I probably talked to father, mother and son while I was there. The place is definitely dated with a take out window on the left and dining room to the right. The menu is very reasonable with sandwiches, dinners, burgers, apps, salads etc etc. The sandwich's/bombers come in multiple sizes and the Philly beef steak sounded good which I got chubbies size because it's only $2 more. My bomber came quick/hot off the grill and when they handed me the bag I was like what's in here because it's one heavy sandwich so I couldn't wait to open it. When I opened it the whole square container was filled with at least a foot long Philly cut in half which smelled really good. This filled my crave for a Philly cheese steak and hit the spot. The hoagie bread was perfect because it was very light and toasted so all the flavors came through, a heavier/dense bread would be too bready. The Philly was meaty with melted mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, onions and green peppers. This was a good Philly but it could have been seasoned a little better and really 2 meaty phillys for $9.95. I definitely have to get back and try some more of the humongous sandwiches. I really like how they don't skimp on the sandwich's and give you great value. read more

Just finished my morning 0600-1400 shift and it's been raining all day. I literally just wanted some HOT! Fresh pizza! And I'm not from Wisconsin. So I just called them up and received extremely positive vibes from the woman over the phone and she helped me find the best deal and option for me with great patience. I was told 20 minutes and that's exactly what it took them to prepare it. It was 5 FREAKING STARS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIRE!!!! if you don't think this pizza tastes good then I guess your taste buds are shot. Georgia Boy out! I defeated the 5 pound burger challenge at Chubbie's in Racine, WI. In order to receive the meal for free, one must break the current record. I finished the challenge in 18:36. The challenge consists of 5 one pound patties, 15 slices of cheese, an oversized bun, onions, & pickles. For winning, I received the $35 meal for free, & my name up on the wall of fame. Decent food but you better hope you get what you ordered because if you didn't, it's not their fault and they will make no attempt to make it right. We have been ordering from them on a regular basis since we moved to the area and never had an issue until last night. I ordered 3 varying burgers and 2 apps - literally everything in the order was wrong (how hard is a PLAIN HAMBURGER?!) and I called IMMEDIATELY and was told to call back today because the owner wasn't there. Call today and was told that the owner doesn't talk to customers but that he's been scammed so much that there won't be a refund or credit because he should have been notified yesterday. Visiting with friends and family from Boston and decided to stop in after hearing about the 5lb burger! The folks at Chubbies are so kind, friendly and welcoming. They told us some of the rich history of Racine/Milwaukee and gave us tips of local spots to check out. The food is incredible both in portion size and flavor. We ate: a 1 lbs burger, an order of cheese curds (our first time and they were delicious!), a mushroom sausage pizza (crust was thin and perfect crunch), fries, and spaghetti and meatballs for my son which he killed (see pic). This is the 2nd time something happened with them. I called and told them that the pizza is burnt and because I took the burnt cheese off a slice of pizza so my 3 year old can eat it which he didn't eat it because it still tasted burnt, they refused to send me another pizza. This is a super-charming little place. I can't help but love it, because the dining area is wood-paneled and warm and comfy like your great-aunt's 1960's rumpus room except with 1lb burgers. And they offer a 1lb burger with gyro meat on top, too. Chubbies makes their own buns for this. They need to because it's the size of a dinner plate. When I went with my cousin, absolutely everything she ordered recieved a huge portion. I came back again, and they were actually a little stingy with the gyro meat on my massive burger. Open for take-out during COVID. This place gave me the best gyro I have had in a long time. It was done up like a club sandwich, which I wasn't expecting but loved how the flavors blended. The gyro meat was savory, tender, and delicious. I'm doing this review after the second time coming in. The first time was so good I came back for more. Our family went for a late lunch the place was dead, the waitress was rude and snippy immediately. The thermostat said 53 degrees, and when asked to turn up the heat it was only raised by 4 degrees!!! We had 5 children under 6, one of those a baby, everyone ate with their coats on. We waited for service, waited to order, waited and waited. Then had to ask to place the orders, and for kid cups with lids. My niece ordered a caeser salad, nothing about it was caeser, and we were given it with chicken (when we didn't order it with chicken, but were charged for it). Our daughter ordered a kids meal, since she was drinking water, we said that we would take the drink to go as it was charged to us already. The server argued with us about the drink at payment, over and over despite several people in our party telling her that we never were given it. My SIL was shorted over a dollar in change for the bill she paid (gratuity was added already). We did not enjoy our experience at all, and sadly we paid for the horrible service because we are not bad people. read more

I thought I was going to find a gem, but instead I found a rock. The so-called mozzarella was anything but real. It had the consistency of string cheese and the flavor as well...none. The tomato sauce used in my order was the same across the board: bland and watery. I specifically asked for cod with my fish bucket and I got all catfish instead. It was supposed to be a 12-piece bucket, but it was only ten. The meatball and chicken sandwiches had the 'cheese' and 'tomato sauce' oozing all over the place. Interesting place. My son and I love it. We go for the Chubbie burgers. These burgers and buns are the size of a paper plate. We always make sure we are really hungry. We've even coaxed my dad to come and have had 3 generations chowing. The remember having the pizza once and felt like it was ok, just above a frozen pizza. OH MY if you're a big man...or just like to eat your heart out, Chubbies is bound to make you HAPPY and most likely like Chubby himself (you'll see the framed mascot doll on the wall). Their burgers are gigantic and CHEAP. You pay for any add-ons, unless it's a specialty burger already coming with items like lettuce, tomato, etc. They also have a yummy iced tea that is pomegranate-blueberry flavored. Uniquely good. Again, prices could not be any better. If you feel like staying in or catching a TV show, they have a carry out window right at the entrance. I think it blows Kopps of Milwaukee out of the show. Last night, me and my girlfriend went here for our 6-month and it was pretty good. I got a cheddar and mushroom Chubbie burger while my girlfriend just got a normal cheeseburger, also in Chubbie size. We also got a side of fries for us to share. The cheddar and mushroom burger was good, but they use concession stand nacho cheese instead of actual cheddar and the mushrooms were canned mushrooms. Not complaining, because I actually enjoy nacho cheese and canned mushrooms, but others' opinions might differ. My girlfriend's burger looked good. It just look like a larger version of a cheeseburger. The fries were ok. They could've used a bit more salt. But for a place that sells giant burgers, you wouldn't just go for the fries. The place itself looks kinda dinky, and it is located directly in the middle of the ghetto, but the food is good and the place offers take out so you can eat their food in the comfort of your own home. Hubby and I were visiting with a friend in Kenosha and he wanted to go for burgers so brought us here. He and my husband both got the gigantic burger with the specially made bun and actually managed to eat them! We've lived in the Racine area for about 30 years. I've heard of Chubbies before but I've never been there. Recently I heard their 1 lb cheeseburgers were awesome. I'm always looking to get off the beaten path and visit the food places the "locals" go to. My wife and I went there on a week-day late in the afternoon and we were the only customers seated. This is definitely an old school family run neighborhood pizza joint. The place is dated and had a dingy feeling. There was a take out counter on the left and dining room to the right. The menu prices are very reasonable with pizza, sandwiches, dinners, burgers, salads etc etc., and the sandwiches come in multiple sizes. After serving us a soda and a coffee, we waited about 20 minutes before the waitress returned to take our order. My wife's coffee was cold by then. I ordered the 1 lb cheeseburger with grilled onions and my wife ordered a hot beef bomber with the aus jus on the side. The burger itself and the cheese were "okay" but the bun was kind of flat and unimpressive, didn't taste much like a burger bun. With that in mind, it seemed like it tasted like a hundred other cheeseburgers I eaten in my life, only bigger. I heard the cheeseburgers were so good but Kopps in Milwaukee blows these cheeseburgers out of the water. My wife's hot beef was horrible. The beef lacked Italian seasoning and tasted re-heated and we're sure it was reheated on a grill because there was crispy edges on the meat and it was super dry even when she dipped it in the aus jus. Nothing like the hot beefs you can get in Chicago. The positive thing about her sandwich was the bun which was very good. Needless to say she refused to eat it. The waitress never returned with a warm-up for my wife's coffee on her own, we had to wave her down. Not impressed with the service. All in all, we're not too impressed with the food and service at Chubbies so far. Maybe it was a bad time to go that day, I don't know. We have heard the pizza is very good so we plan to go back and try it, but only the pizza. read more

The only downside is their pizza to me is very salty but it may be due to the fact I don't eat alot of salt. I have only had the Chubby burger when I have been there, and it is really good! I hear the pizza is good to, but I love their cheeseburgers to much to order something else. The take out service is great. When we've dined in, in the past we haven't had good experiences. The waitress was very rude. The inside isn't to clean, and the booths are very uncomfortable. Worst service. Every member of our group had their order messed up after multiple times reviewing and correcting our order with the waitress. Appetizers came after main meal even after we specifically requested them prior. Waitress never came back once meal served to check on food satisfaction nor check on our drinks.
