Went there for Friday night fish fry since we hadn't been there in a long time. What a disappointment! A square, prebreaded fish patty which had obviously been slid out of an envelope. My Dad and I checked them out on a recent road trip because it was close to the zoo and had good reviews. We were not disappointed--what a great local gem! The staff immediately greeted us. We placed our order easily. The menu had gyros, burgers, hot dogs and fried cheese curds (when in Wisconsin...) among other things. I went to the bathroom and to my surprise, our order was ready when I came back out. The portions were so big we could have split one gyro sandwich. I'm glad we only ordered one side of fries because we were stuffed! The gyros were delicious and not dry. I liked that that the cucumber sauce was served on the side because it can be messy. The fries were crispy and tasted hand cut. We loved our experience here & would definitely come back. The interior was retro cute with tin signs from old gas stations and license plates hanging on the wall and ceilings. It's connected to a gas station, but don't let that deter you. It's really cute and has a separate entrance. Was pleased that the staff thanked us and told us to have a great day on our way out. I went here on the recommendation of several people. I consider myself a bit of a gyro aficionado so I had to try it out. First off, it's part of a gas station but don't let that turn you away. The gyro - I got the original - was solid. I'd like to have the pita toasted a bit and the meat grilled a bit more. Also, for the size of the gyro, about 50% more tzatziki sauce would be perfect. That would up the rating. The fries were great. They simply come in the bottom of the paper bag underneath your gyro. The service was prompt and courteous. There are a few picnic tables outside the doors but that's it for seating. A lot of people were eating their gyros while sitting in their cars. These folks are far more talented than me. I was just passing through, but needed something at the gas station so I decided to get a "little snack" here instead. But WOW biggest gyros I have ever had. I couldn't even finish it! Probably a lb of meat on that puppy. The wait was a little long, so call ahead if you're impatient or always in a hurry like me. I found Gus's Gyros on Door Dash during the quarantine and our family absolutely loves it!! Be careful when ordering the BFG Gyron - even the biggest eaters in my house couldn't finish it! The normal Gyro is enough to fill you up for sure! The fries are AWESOME! Don't be thrown off by the greasy bag either - if you want healthy then maybe go get a salad. But if you're in the need for filling, delicious, greasy food fix - this is definitely the place for you! Highly recommend! I usually never post these but I had to drop this to help people out. Prime Time Gyros. By far the best in town.... I just ordered two "Chicago Dogs" And was extremely disappointed. Two hot dogs and a drink are a bit pricey. When I opened up the hot dog containers, they put ketchup on the dog. Everything else looked great, but I can absolutely not do that to a hot dog. If a place is a little pricey on their dogs, the least they could do is properly dress the hot dog. Could not eat the hot dogs. Finally! It took me 8 years but I have finally found an 'authentic' gyros stand in southeast WI. I spent 56 years living in the Chicago area. I remember when the first gyros stands started popping up in Chi-town (a long-assed time ago!). Given my years, I consider myself to be a bit of an authority in what constitutes an authentic gyros stand. Gus' certainly meets and exceeds my expectations. Went there for the first time a few days ago. Ordered the BFG gyros (about the size of two or more regular gyros) and a large fry. Really enough for two adults with some food left over. Anyway, the food was everything I could have asked for and the service was fast and friendly. The store appeared to be very clean and recently updated (decor-wise). Like all the gyros stands I've ever visited Gus' has numerous other items on their menu such as burgers, fried chicken, dogs and many sides. Can't wait to try some of those too. I found Gus's using Yelp and thought a Gyro would be something different for dinner, so I stopped in. Yelp I believe has the business listed on its map in the wrong place, so maybe use a different address app on your smart phone. Yelp takes you to a boarded up part of town. The restaurant is located in the same building as a BP gas station and a liquor store, Gus's Gyro's is on the marquee outside. I ordered the BFG which I thing stands for Big Frig'n Gyro and I must say it is 3lbs of pure delight. Add the cucumber sauce and you are in heaven. Excellent taste and tons of meat. Restaurant has a 1960's theme, booths and serves liquor. It is very casual and would be on the order of any fast food sit down area. Gus's does a great job of cleanliness and even though staff was two people the day I stopped in, I received my food quickly, it was hot and staff was polite and friendly. Bad fries bad service! We have gone there before and it was fine. We ordered for pick up last night Mistake? Greasy soggy over cooked fries. I could smell them in the car, got home and just a messed of smelly oily overcooked fries. Not sure if oil was too low, or fries weren't dried off, or old oil. I put them in my air fryer to see if that would crisp them up. It did but they tasted old and they was no seasoning. Food has always been good but I placed a carry out order for the first time since March when everything shut down due to Covid-19. I'm a believer in masking up for all. Two staff members had masks on only under their chin and another had no mask on at all.
