Wells Brothers Pizza has been a Racine institution, and after eight years of living here, I finally understand what all the fuss is about. Shame on me for waiting so long! From the moment our food arrived, it was clear this place is special. The homemade soup was an absolute delight, rich and comforting. But the star of the show was the pizza. The crust is paper thin and perfectly crispy, sturdy enough to stand on its own while somehow enhancing every topping in a way I've genuinely never experienced before. It's a masterclass in simplicity done right. We paired it with a wonderful glass of wine that rounded out the meal beautifully. And the service? Phenomenal. Nakiya took great care of us and made the whole experience even better. Eight years without Wells Brothers was eight years too many. We will absolutely be back -- and often. Awesome visit here for a Wednesday night. Wasn't too busy at 5:30pm but definitely picked up a bit after that. They have a guard outside to keep tabs on the lot and maintain security, which was kind of nice. Plenty of parking. The staff were friendly and quick to help with our orders but also gave us time to consider. We opted for the Wed special (large pizza w/ 2 toppings for $16.50) and another large pizza with extra toppings on half and half. They've got great prices for wine and beer and it's easy to feel relaxed in here with the ambiance and vibe. The smell of the pizza was amazing, too! Tasted even better! The crackers thin crust was delicious and you could easily eat a few slices. Will definitely come back. It's great here! read more

We kicked things off with the antipasto salad, which is always a winner...fresh, generous, and easily big enough for two (honestly, probably more). Looking to support a local Italian eatery ran by a multi-generational family? Wells Bros is all that, and more! Food: Well known for their speciality pizzas, but they also have other Italian dishes on the menu (see my pics for pic of menu). People have traveled from far places to try the pizzas due to their vracker thin crust. Dine-in, carry out, and catering services. Service: pretty good. My favorite server is Nakiya. When she is my server, nothing gets forgotten. She also gives great menu suggestions. Value: Approx $10-$15 pp. They offer daily specials as well. Ambiance: Lots of chatter and can be very loud as it is always busy. Restaurant is quaint with limited seating. Bar area has some seating around the bar, but is otherwise small. Location: Southside area of Racine, WI. Private parking lot available, but it is always busy so get there early to get parking. Street parking also available. Strongly recommend making reservations, if you can. Otherwise, you will more than likely have a wait, and there isn't a waiting area. read more

I read about this place, and Portnoy recently reviewed it, too. This place has been in business for 104 years! Still going strong! I knew I had to stop in. Got here around 5pm on a Friday, it was busy! I grabbed an available seat at the bar and ordered my Pepsi and a small pizza, half sausage and half cheese. How was it? Sausage/Cheese Pizza- This is Milwaukee style pizza. Super duper thin, crispy and flat out tasty! It had big chunks of sausage on half of it, and stringy cheese on the other half. Everything about this pizza was great! I kept taking those little squares and shoveling them in my mouth. I probably should have gone with a medium size. Service was friendly, and you could totally tell this was a "locals place" by the conversations going on in and around the bar. Absolute BEST PIZZA IN RACINE!!! and honestly in the surrounding cities (milwaukee/waukesha/west allis). it's that ultra thin, super flavorful pizza. I usually get sausage/mushroom/onion, my husband gets pepperoni. Their sausage is one of the reasons the pizza is good. You can tell it's quality ingredients. I wish they were open on sundays. We usually host packers games on sundays, the superbowl, etc and I would love to be able to get their pizza for the parties but they aren't open :(. I still love them though. they are fast. the servers are all wonderful and helpful. This place is a little gem. read more

Detoured to Racine, in between visits to Milwaukee and Lake Geneva, just to visit Wells Brothers. Wells Brothers justified the detour and delivered a delightful lunch. The Wells Brothers space could easily have been the space that opened in 1921, and it reminded me of the pizza joints that I frequented in the late '60's and early '70s in Massachusetts. Wells Brothers serves up bar pies, but we indulged in Garlic Bread first. The Garlic Bread was good -- not great -- but still good, and we quickly devoured it. It was perhaps a little too heavily oiled and could have benefitted from some fresh garlic (or more fresh garlic?) but these are small criticisms. Of course, we did not drive out of our way for Garlic Bread. We made our detour for pizza, and the pies at Wells Brothers are definitely the star. While I am not normally a fan of bar pies -- the thin, cracker-like crust is just not what I am used to -- I found myself thinking longingly about the flavor of the pie even a day later. With over 100 years of experience...of course it's gonna be good. Must haves are pizza (duh), bruchetta, lasagna, or a $1 meatball. Our server Winter was great. She checked in often on us and met our needs on anything we asked for. I just don't get the hype, the food is ok, yes they have a nice thin crust on pizza but....... Finally took the time to check this place out. As soon as I walked in the place felt familiar. Like the old places I went into growing up. I went on a Saturday at 4pm. Placed was PACKED. Dining area and bar both. It was an hour wait for a table, which was not a big deal. The Bar has a cool set up, mostly regulars and very nice staff and patrons. The pizza is off the chain good! Lives up to the expectations! Just a short drive from Oak Creek, we found ample street parking & a nice sized adjacent lot. Walking in around noon on a Saturday, we expected a bit of a wait, but to our surprise we were seated shortly after ordering a drink! The bar gave us all the cozy vintage vibes-many things untouched & beautifully kept the same for years. We started with cheesy garlic bread-they don't skimp on the cheese! Lovely red sauce to dip. We also got a small pepperoni & jalapeño pizza-cracker thin deliciousness! Was a perfect lunch to split between 2 people. We also got a large par baked (made to order) to go. We enjoyed that as well! If you like thin crust pizza you will go nuts over their thin (cracker) crust pizzas. Between the fact that they are a Racine Icon and over the top Italian dishes at a great price you won't be able to stop telling your friends about them. They do have one downside is that they will stop taking new carry out orders if they get swamped. Yes they are that good and won't sacrifice speed for quality. Finally the 102 year old pizza place, not the original location is up for new restaurant of the week because I have so many book marks. The place is known for its thin crust pizza and since I like thin crust pizza I drove over. The place is nothing fancy and divy which I don't mind at all with a bar in front and a dining room in back. The bar does have seating along the walls but the place is small with great charm. Service was excellent with the bartender on my drink as I sat at the bar but my food would be handed a different server which was weird so I left two different tips because I didn't know who gets what tip wise. I'm driving 42 minutes so I'm in for the whole experience so I start with a whiskey old fashioned sour with olives at the bar and I decided to just eat at the bar which I don't usually like but I'm not hogging a table with all the people waiting for one. I saw a soup picture on Yelp that looked homemade so I'm starting with the soup which they had 5 great sounding soups but the Italian sausage orizo sounded amazing. My soup looked and smelled amazing with orizo noodles and chucks of sausage, tomatoes celery etc etc. The soup was so delicious with tasty sausage and probably one of the best soup from a restaurant and I'm so glad I got the soup. I ordered a sausage and cheese pizza medium which didn't take long and it looked amazing. This is probably the thinnest thin crust pizza I have had with a crispy crust all through. The pizza was delicious with a sauce that wasn't sweet or overpowering with just the right amount of tasty sausage and cheese. This is pretty good soup and pizza I have to say. Overall Wells Brothers is well worth the drive and one of my top restaurant of the week visit and if I'm in the area again I'm getting the soup to take home, honestly that soup was my favorite over the pizza. read more

I would give them 10 stars if I could. Right when you walk into the restaurant you are greeted by someone and immediately feel like family. They are so welcoming. We sat at the bar and had Tina get us drinks without hesitation. Their bruschetta is a must here. If you get anything on the menu this is what you should get. Yum! I was born and grew up in Kenosha, and have never dined at Wells Brothers. I finally did and now understand what all the hype is about. My sister swears by this tiny little corner spot. She dines here on a regular basis. A friend and I were visiting from Chicago so we grabbed lunch before heading home. The exterior boasts history in a quiet little neighborhood. Located on a corner, the dark, vintage building evoked memories of years gone by. We entered the side door just as they were opening for lunch. In a flash the small dining room was packed. People on lunch breaks from work, people like us just grabbing lunch, a large group of ladies having a special occasion. We ordered pizza of course. I love a good thin crust and Wells Brothers delivered. We even got a pie to go to surprise my sister. We wanted to thank her for the recommendation. We started with the fried pickles and ended with a dessert that was very tasty. Our young server was great. She assisted us like a pro. She sat people, took care of to-go orders and served tables. After a fun day trip to Racine, we picked up two Wells Brothers pizzas for the road. You can order by phone, ask for par-baked and then you finish them at home! (425 for 8 min). These are super thin crust, but not cracker-y. They were delicious. We got their special Calabrese and it was unique and excellent. We also created our own... sausage, garlic artichoke. So good. I'm a fan of all things pizza. I've now been here a couple of times and walked away each time unable to forget the experience (or the pizza). A couple observations- This is a very thin and crispy crust pizza. The toppings extend to the very edges of the pizza- I've never seen that on another pizza, definitely not the norm. Suggest keeping the quantity of toppings limited, keep it simple and the crust will do its part. Unpretentious atmosphere- the food and service are the stars. Months later and I can still vividly remember the great taste of each of the ingredients, separately and coming together making this a delicious pizza!
