    That's a sandwich!

If you're anywhere near southeastern Wisconsin, a stop at Wells Brothers Pizza is basically a rite of passage. We kicked things off with the antipasto salad, which is always a winner...fresh, generous, and easily big enough for two (honestly, probably more). It's the kind of starter that makes you feel like you already made the right decision before the pizza even hits the table. And speaking of pizza... there was no way we were leaving without one of their nationally recognized cracker-thin, cornmeal crust pies. We went with sausage and mushroom, and it absolutely delivered. That signature crust is what sets them apart: light, crunchy, and somehow sturdy enough to carry all that goodness without missing a beat. We also ordered the Goomba sandwich, which showed up looking like it could double as a free weight. Easily a couple pounds of pure deliciousness. After one bite we realized defeat was inevitable and packed the rest to take home. Service is consistently excellent...friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. It's the kind of place that feels both legendary and comfortable at the same time. Bottom line: this is an absolute must-visit spot for award-winning pizza in southeastern Wisconsin. Come hungry... and maybe plan for leftovers.

Looking to support a local Italian eatery ran by a multi-generational family? Wells Bros is all that, and more! Food: Well known for their speciality pizzas, but they also have other Italian dishes on the menu (see my pics for pic of menu). People have traveled from far places to try the pizzas due to their vracker thin crust. Dine-in, carry out, and catering services. Service: pretty good. My favorite server is Nakiya. When she is my server, nothing gets forgotten. She also gives great menu suggestions. Value: Approx $10-$15 pp. They offer daily specials as well. Ambiance: Lots of chatter and can be very loud as it is always busy. Restaurant is quaint with limited seating. Bar area has some seating around the bar, but is otherwise small. Location: Southside area of Racine, WI. Private parking lot available, but it is always busy so get there early to get parking. Street parking also available. Strongly recommend making reservations, if you can. Otherwise, you will more than likely have a wait, and there isn't a waiting area.

I read about this place, and Portnoy recently reviewed it, too. This place has been in business for 104 years! Still going strong! I knew I had to stop in. Got here around 5pm on a Friday, it was busy! I grabbed an available seat at the bar and ordered my Pepsi and a small pizza, half sausage and half cheese. How was it? Sausage/Cheese Pizza- This is Milwaukee style pizza. Super duper thin, crispy and flat out tasty! It had big chunks of sausage on half of it, and stringy cheese on the other half. Everything about this pizza was great! I kept taking those little squares and shoveling them in my mouth. I probably should have gone with a medium size. Service was friendly, and you could totally tell this was a "locals place" by the conversations going on in and around the bar. Cool spot, and I'm glad I stopped to try out their bomb pizza!

Everyone told me I had to come try wells bros for pizza and yes their pizza is very good. Being new to Wisconsin I've learned a few things... Wisconsinites love their round pizza cut into squares, they love a thin cracker like crust, and there's two types of people those who like their cheese curds lightly fried and those who like cheese curds darker and more crispy... I am the crispy well done camp

    Wells Brothers . . . . Since 1921!

Detoured to Racine, in between visits to Milwaukee and Lake Geneva, just to visit Wells Brothers. Wells Brothers justified the detour and delivered a delightful lunch. The Wells Brothers space could easily have been the space that opened in 1921, and it reminded me of the pizza joints that I frequented in the late '60's and early '70s in Massachusetts. Wells Brothers serves up bar pies, but we indulged in Garlic Bread first. The Garlic Bread was good -- not great -- but still good, and we quickly devoured it. It was perhaps a little too heavily oiled and could have benefitted from some fresh garlic (or more fresh garlic?) but these are small criticisms. Of course, we did not drive out of our way for Garlic Bread. We made our detour for pizza, and the pies at Wells Brothers are definitely the star. While I am not normally a fan of bar pies -- the thin, cracker-like crust is just not what I am used to -- I found myself thinking longingly about the flavor of the pie even a day later. I have had few pies that offer such a great balance of sauce and cheese! Wells Brothers delivers on the promise of outstanding pizza!

    Loved the vintage bar

Definitely the best pizza in the area! The staff and chefs are top notch. The Alfred tortellini is out of this world as well.

The room was spacious with plenty of counter space and charging ports, and the restroom was restocked daily with complimentary toiletries. I feel like I can never get a good night's sleep when I'm say sleeping on a hotel bed, but I slept like a baby in my bed at Hotel Verdant! The sheets felt so luxurious and comfortable, and while I usually need to stack the pillows in hotel beds, one pillow was plenty of support for me here. I also appreciated that the housekeeping service actually did come freshen up our room (make the beds, replace the towels, etc) every day during our stay, which doesn't usually happen at the other hotels I've stayed at recently. I didn't love that there is no attached parking garage/lot for the hotel, and instead you have to lug all your luggage across the street to the lot that is shared with two restaurants. My reason for giving Hotel Verdant 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bathroom door did not close all the way in my room, which was very inconvenient, and one of the coffee mugs in my room was very obviously dirty upon my arrival (there were drips of coffee still in it). However, neither of those issues are total dealbreakers, and I do see myself staying at Hotel Verdant if I'm ever in that area again!

From the first bite to the last every dish is packed with bold homestyle flavor that instantly transports you to a cozy family dinner. The meals are hearty, delicious, and absolutely scrumptious-- the kind of food that makes you close your eyes and savor. Mine was with a glass of Cabernet Wine. If you want Italian cuisine that feels like home this place nails it. I had the chicken breast with basil and other spices that complimented the meal, over roasted potatoes cooked to perfection. A tasty meal that you remember and always want to come back too. My husband had his favorite, the Shrimp Fra Diavolo with Angel Hair Pasta, which is his favorite and always looks forward to having as it just gets better and better every meal. The atmosphere is comfortable and so welcoming and prices are very reasonable. The service was excellent. The bonus is feeling right at home.

The food portions for the pasta are absolutely amazing & large!!! You will take leftovers home. My wife got the Chicken Picatta....which I wanted to get but we never like to have same meal at a new place. It looked fabulous & amazing. Not heavy & very light but massive chicken breast. I ended up getting the Fall Special Bourbon Salmon. Portion size was good for fish. The glaze was tremendous. The side roasted vegetables alone I would have paid for an extra side. We saw people order the Gnocchi & Lasagna. Either of those were enough for two full dinner meals. Meals come with a salad or soup. I got the Tomato Basil soup & it was very delicious. Waiter was very nice guy & did a good job at making us feel welcomed.

Very good selection & wow the prices are very reasonable.....VERY!!! Not te that the reviews from before June 2026 are from the "old" carry out only Caledonia Nonna's Pizzeria. Came here for a Friday lunch with friends. Wait staff was very friendly to us considering it was a meet up with two couples both with 5-6 month old daughters. You ca get a filling meal plus take 1/3 home for $15 per person. I got the Calzone, you can't get them at many places that even sell pizzas. Nostalgia from when I was young. It was great size, filling, 3 toppings for $15. No up charge for getting 2 meats. Very good. Took 1/3 of it home for dinner later, was still delicious. My wife got the Buffalo Chicken Salad & it was a massive salad. Lots of chicken. Even after finishing just a little (our daughter kept getting fussy or jealous so we had to split our time holding her), when putting into the to-go container it filled to the brim of that. Our friends got the small pizza & a pasta with meatballs. Each had great portion sizes. Heck the small pizza seems expensive but when you think about how it can be a personal pizza & you just take 1/3 of it home, it is a great deal. Great place!!! Waitress was very nice to us & accommodating. Place is big inside. Ironically when the old DeRango's was here, we came here for carry out 4x but never once even peaked inside the restaurant portion. Interior was larger than I expected. Only possible negative was that it took at least 5-8 minutes from when we walked in for any person to walk from outside of the kitchen to the restaurant to notice there were people waiting to be seated. They only had one waitress since it was only lunch & she did a great job of managing all 6-8 tables of guests, but the hostess must do double duties between carry out & hostess. Maybe just add some sort of bell or noise that detects when someone enters & exits.
