If you want a good gyro in Racine, go to Arby's. If you want a gyro that they'd serve at a retirement community on Greek Night, then go here. Also, be careful on Greek Night at the Golden Acres. This is more "Sad but True" than "Gyro of the Day". The staff was friendly and it was served promptly, and blandly. The meat seemed like it was kept in a steamer. No crispy charred bits, not enough seasoning, and served on a powdery pita right out of the bag! And why not use red onion instead of that bland white or yellow onion? My platter was mess of sub-par ingredients. To quote Tina Turner... "we don't need another Gyro..." if you're going to make this garbage. Two stars as the service was good, and so was the Feta and Olives on the salad. It's only a "Juke Box Gyro" if all of the other songs were by Nickleback and Daughtry! Tony Orblando! The gyro sauce had flavor like sour cream. They probably had a lawsuit when they tried calling it Tzatziki. It would be a crime if they did. No no no no!!! Don't go! To quote the Foo Fighters... Such a cute little restaurant. One of the seating areas has a nice view where you can enjoy good food with a view. I only ordered the Greek salad with extra dressing and it was so big I only ate half. Definitely will come back when I'm in town. read more

Our first time here. We enjoyed this place. I am a huge Mediterranean/middle eastern food person. The Baba Ghanouj was good, different but good but their falafels were delicious! I got the spinach pie. The flavor was amazing! The only thing that bothered me was that it was a bit watery and the onions were big chunks. Decent Gyro meat, poor pita. Served cold. I don't recommend this if you want a good gyro. Go to Oakland Gyros, you'll be better served.

I really struggled on this as I want to given gyros express at least two star, but honestly cannot figure out how to do it... it was awful in just about every regard... service, taste, quality... just awful. I'd pull their Greek card. Gyros Express is like eating a gyros at country fait stand run by the The little rascals! By my experience, I have no idea where people are having experiences to give this 5 stars...Can't even conceive of how to give it two! Right off the bat when we ordered I was totally blown away by how bad the service was. It's not they weren't nice or attentive, it's just that they didn't let me make the decision on the facts. We ordered two gyros sandwiches. One with not onions or tomatoes, one with and extra of both intact. After we ordered, we informed, "ok, thanks, it's gonna be awhile we don't have more gyros meat on the cone, so we have to change it and then cook it... it gonna be 20-30 min." Ummmm, knowing that we would not have ordered all. This is "fast" food take out after all, not a sit down restaurant I'm Chicago's Greek town. Thank for making our choice for us... When the food finally arrived-22 minutes... guess who got he bottom of barrel on the old cone with burnt dry chunks of "gyros". The other was cooked and sliced normal, but was mealy at wet. Both, especially the chunky one were tasteless, unless burnt is a taste. As far as eating them... They we tiny firstly looking like two aluminum foil wrapped hotdogs. SMALL! Secondly, nearly impossible to eat. I'm not sure where they found the pitas they use but the pitas were super soggy...like wet Wonder bread. Try and grab it pick it and it falls apart! Plus the pita were tiny! The tomatoes were sliced but no one bothered to cut out the stem attachment so I guess that's a bonus. Such a huge disappointment and a total lack of self awareness about what service or quality look like. read more

Gyro was good...more garlic in the meat than anywhere else I've had a gyro and that was just fine for me...though probably not kosher for the people I was meeting with right afterwards. It took a bit to get the food but was well worth it. Fries were seasoned well, crisp, and tasty as well. I had the gyro plate and it comes with a choice between three sides. Nice ambiance though it's small which made it cold inside no matter where you were. Service was timid but good. read more

Came in for a quick lunch as there weren't many well-reviewed places nearby on Yelp. I was glad they showed up in the search. I went with the lamb gyro platter which was huge. It came with fries and a giant helping of lamb gyro. I liked the tzatziki sauce they served on the side as it was very thick and held to the sandwich instead of dripping off. The best hidden gem in town. Don't make the mistake by only ordering the gyro. Everything there is amazing. My children and I have tried everything. We highly recommend the mix platter. Tasty Gyro plate on my first trip. Apparently, the restaruant owner was cooking..He was wearing a chef jacket and conveyed a general attitude that made this place feel good. The plate was a decent serving size kept me satiated for many, many hours after dining. This place would have gotten 5 stars had he not charged me almost $2.00 for a 20 ounce bottle of soda... You can't spell Gyros Express without "sex." This ingenious marketing technique plastered smack-dab in the middle of their name is almost as good as their food. I've come here several times and have left pleased on every single occasion. Before entering... the place looked like it would be a small, grab-your-food-and-get-out kind of restaurant. But once inside, I realized I had misjudged, as it has a very warm, stay-for-a-while kind of feeling with with some nice art hanging on the walls. The staff here has always been friendly and helpful. They even have an additional seating area outside, which I'm hoping to try in the warmer months. I have tried all three of their gyros (original, cheddar, and spicy) -- my favorite being the spicy. They have a wide variety of other dishes on the menu as well. Although, I think it'll be a long while before I try something new. This is an excellent spot tucked away in a Racine strip mall. I've been here a number of times, and the quality of the food as well as the service has been on point each and every time. One can find not only Mediterranean cuisine here but also popular American dishes, such as cheeseburgers. I prefer my gyros spicy and this spot does it perfectly. A great addition with the gyros is the fries but be sure to get them seasoned. Also, consider a side of dipping cheese sauce with the fries. The meat quality of the gyros and the burger patties is truly high grade. Although many locals opt for take out, the interior is spotless. The decor is pleasant and welcoming. The gyro meat is out of this world. The cone is always fresh and not overly salty like many gyro joints have. Their other Mediterranean menu options really make this one stand out from the rest. Their fresh, daily-made hummus, falafel and baba ganouch are absolutely delicious. The kababs and shawarma are seasoned to perfection. Picked up lunch today for me and my mom. Got the gyros platter. The sandwich is HUGE, they put all the salad and sauce on the side so you can make your own. I got the Greek salad which was nice but I wish the dressing was more flavorful. Definitely get your money's worth here. read more
