Each one was crispy and golden on the outside but bland and nearly tough inside. The mashed potatoes were nice and hot but kinda stiff and they skimped on the gravy. I didn't bother with the roll. For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would leave a less than stellar review for Chubby's. One of my go-tos is the crispy, delicious fried chicken, with a side of Cole slaw and their fluffy biscuits. Plural because I always get an extra biscuit because the flavor and texture are excellent. My other fave is the juicy, generously portioned burger. Cheaper than others in the 'hood and tastier than you might expect from fast food. The cherries on the top are the carrot cake and the friendly service. The interior is bare bones but it's clean and I always take it out so I don't care about the cafeteria feel of it. When you're just not in the mood to cook and looking for a treat, get all of the above and do something more fun than slaving over a hot stove. read more

I took one star away for chicken having too much fat on it over actual meat. Breading was good and flavorful tho. You get a big plate of fries -definitely sharable. Another star was taken for their condiments. They gave me a weird hot sauce in a packet (something you'd see in a Chinese restaurant) and ranch was also in a packet - which is too liquidy (because it is designed for a salad). I've had a really good experience with Chubbys. I've only ordered delivery (10+ times), but they are by far the best value with very good quality. I've ordered their burgers which are very good--they remind me of a local knock off shake shack (order the sauce on the side it can be a lot). The ingredients on the burgers taste fresh. The fries are always crispy, they come in a wax paper bag and there are so many of them--really good! Their mozz sticks are crispy. I'm all moved into my new Astoria apartment and I have discovered Seamless for the first time, thanks to my roommate. So many options! Free delivery! So dangerous! And guess what?! Chubby Burger was on there, score. They were my first Seamless order, and it wouldn't be the last time I ordered from them either. The food is almost always hot and good - here and there you get an order of soggy fries (but hey, they are out delivering food to the masses of Queens on a mini scooter). On occasion they forget a requested side of ranch dressing (yes, for french fry dipping). And once, when I had requested for no ketchup and pickle as I always do, the ketchup and pickle were on the burger. I'm pretty sure they refunded me for the burger that time - which was super nice. Unfortunately, both chicken sandwiches were not in the order but was charged and yes I should have checked before leaving. Surprisingly, the 5oz burger was par at best, however the chubby burger (again, minus the additional asked choices) still appeared to be more flavorful and felt worth the paid price. The cheesesteak on the other hand was decent and something I could recommend for others to try without hesitation. This isn't Destination fried chicken. This isn't "authentic" Southern Fried Chicken served with red velvet waffles, organic maple butter, and a $15 gimlet in a mason jar. This is fast-food fried chicken for people who already live in the neighborhood, people who are too lazy or tired to cook, and just want something cheap and filling and good. And it is good for what it is. It's a million times better than K(as in Kentucky)FC, a good bit better than K(as in Kennedy)FC, better than CFC; and well, the local Popeyes closed a while ago, so there you are. The chicken is moderately seasoned, tolerably salty, and with a thin crust which stays reasonably crisp even if you save it for a picnic the next day. It doesn't have that gooey stickyness like at KFC, nor does it have a slimy layer of rubbery skin right below the crust, so that's a win in my book. It sits in a pan under a heat lamp all day and it's fine. If this bothers you then you can probably ask them to make your order fresh. They seem like reasonably friendly people. They don't even have to put bulletproof plexiglass between you and the counter. The potato wedges are exactly like the potato wedges at every fried chicken restaurant. Anyway you can get an entire catering tray full of chicken for around $14 and be the hero of your next pot luck picnic. I have no idea about the rest of their food. I suspect there are better places in Little Egypt to go for a kebab, though. read more
