My 3 year old had a blast and there were some fun things to engage my 9 month old with too. The snack and beverage bar area was a notch above what you usually find at these types of places. The baked items looked good and they had some fun drink options. I really appreciated NOT having to pay for nonslip socks. Thank you. We brought our own. The birthday spaces were a great addition to the thoughtfully designed space. I also loved all the parent seating options. My biggest issue was that it's already a very loud space and there was also loud music blasting the entire time. It was pretty overwhelming to have all the kids yelling and screaming on top of the loud Disney ballads too. I really think playing some more chi music or maybe just at a lowered volume would be sooo much better. It was just too much. They had noise cancelling headphones available for use which I assumed were for kiddos who were overstimulated but mama considered putting these on just to drown out that loud music. I also kinda wish the construction vehicle and firetruck "rides" were free since we had already paid to get in.

Inside is nice and insanely clean. Lots to do here but man it can get really busy. Came in and they…read morewere absolutely packed out. I love all the little nooks and slides that they have. One thing that I'm not a huge fan of is that the bathroom is a little far. You have to leave the actual cafe area to go down the hall to the bathroom. Might not be a huge deal to some but it could be if you have younger kids.

The owners are sooooo knowledgeable and Holly's excitement over each gem is contagious! It was a great value too - an excellent amount of gems in our $25 buckets. What wonderful people. Holly and her trainee were both helpful and very kind. Every time my son wanted his rocks looked at and identified they came right over, shined a light on them, and got him excited about having found something very special. They have a wide selection of buckets at different price points. We did the smallest kid bucket because of time, plus we've done this once before somewhere else and what we got from that other gem mine was not totally worth it. Totally different experience here. Our bucket was full of lots of gems and our son was pleased to get so many from the card. Dalmatian jasper, petrified wood, pink quarts, an emerald, crystal point, amethyst, garnet, pyrite, and more. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and my son was engaged, happy, and eager to show everyone his gems. Thank you for the time and experience! I know we'll make a point of returning on the next drive up - my son wouldn't let us forget!

pulled in here kinda late on thursday with little to show for chasing around northern Georgia most…read moreof the afternoon. a race was just finishing up on the Engleman which has an interesting little wiggle and a bump coming out of the last right hander - have to stay off the fast for another second which is way easier said than done. so after watching the cars go 'round for a bit I got on the King to run a few laps with my box stock mazda. total fan of these tracks; fairly flat turns and essess that require some driving with just enough straight to go really fast heading into a banked corner... over against the wall is a straight line track which I don't drive because my intent is to have all the fun, not spend all the money. not that you will, but you could. like all tracks Upstate has a fully stocked parts counter; we live in an imperfect world and things wear out, or they break, or get full of crud, or otherwise need to be replaced and eventually you might just want to race in a different other class and they got that covered. as always car and chassis selection varies by location; but if they race on the track it's stocked on the shelves.

WARNING! You may find video games boring after visiting this business!…read more Upstate Speedway is one of the last surviving electric model car (slot) raceways open to the public. There were thousands of 'commercial' slot car tracks in the USA in the late 1960s and 1970s; there were a couple of dozen racing centers in the Northern SC area alone. A lot of things caused the slot racing centers to close one by one- people not being as interested in hobbies and the rise of computer video games being a couple of reasons. In the last few years, there has been a revival of sorts with a certain amount of people who were glued to computer screens in the 1980s and 1990s playing "adventure" and "virtual reality" games discovering it was actually more fun "playing" in 3-D. So hands-on hobbies like model railroading, R/C airplanes, and yes slot car racing have made a comeback. For a change, more new raceways have been opening the last few years in the USA than have been closing. All that having been said- Upstate Speedway is one of the better equipped and run model car raceways in North America. Upstate Speedway isn't just about being Slot Car Racing's Indianapolis Motor Speedway or LeMans Sarthe Circuit, it's also about people having fun and inviting their inner child to come out to play. Rental racing cars are available so that you and your buddy can pretend you are Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr. to "Shake and Bake" around their tracks. By the same token children are invited for hours of family fun- the raceway can even arrange a memorable racing birthday party for children aged 6 and up. Call them for special package deals for a day of fun for any sized group. Does your company want to encourage team building? How about a team racing event? Drivers, pit crews, team leaders... miniature racing teaches the same working together for success lessons that "pro" racing instills. Call the raceway now to plan and schedule your corporate event. Stop in sometime and check it out for yourself- but keep an open mind that this is something intended to be a pre-digital age entertainment. It may not be the right sort of thing for impatient or short attention span children or adults.
