Disclaimer, this from a dad who has accepted his fate and now lives on Play Pass economics and draft beer theology There are eight Chuck E Cheese locations within twenty five minutes of my house. Eight. I live in a suburban Bermuda Triangle where every road leads to a different flavor of parental surrender. And yet... I keep coming back because the Play Pass membership is the closest thing to salvation a modern dad can buy without consulting a Rabbi. Two hundred fifty games a day. Half off food. Half off the trampoline park. And I can use it at any location in the country, each with its own personality. All have salad bars, some are safe to eat at. All offer redemption counters which are low key pawn shops for sugar gremlins. Some keep things clean. Some... El Cajon... do not. But Escondido? Escondido is one of the chosen ones. My kids are locked in on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. Escondido has it. National City has it too, but then you have to spend time in National City, and I'm not trying to add side quests to my suffering. The machines here mostly work. The card readers don't gaslight you. The ticket counters don't jam. It's the little things that keep a man going. The Rat Situation..... Once an hour, the music hits. A jaunty little tune that tells most kids it's time to dance with the giant rat mascot. For my youngest, it's the opening note of a horror movie. She hears it and immediately climbs me like a tree. And look, most of the teenagers in the suit are pros. They see the terror. They give us space. They drift away like a respectful wildlife ranger avoiding a startled fawn. But every now and then, fate hands us one of two options: A kid in the suit who cannot read the room Or a kid who absolutely can read the room and chooses violence anyway Those are the moments when the rat stalks my child like a hyena, and I swear, I am not amused. The Beer! Chuck E Cheese serves beer. This is not a luxury. This is a coping mechanism. But the rat only allows one per hour. One. They demand a valid ID every time, even though I look like a man who hasn't slept since the Obama administration. And the system literally locks the tap until the hour resets, no matter how much money I offer the vermin behind the counter. I have never felt more controlled by a rodent in my life. The Salad Bar.... This location keeps the salad bar stocked and clean. Watermelon, honeydew, cucumbers, carrots, oranges. Six fifty with the membership. My kids eat actual produce here. This is a miracle. Other locations... again, El Cajon... treat the salad bar like a corporate mandated example that pizza and cotton candy a food group. Escondido Chuck E Cheese is where I come to trade my sanity for two hours of my kids not fighting. The Play Pass is a lifesaver. The games work. The salad bar is shockingly fresh. The beer flows on a timer set by a tyrant rat overlord. Four stars because my child should not have to fear a mascot like it's a nature documentary. But for a beaten down dad clutching his hourly beer like manna, this place gets the job done. read more

Waited 30 mins and the line didn't move. Line is all the way outside and they only have 1 worker at the register struggling. Another worker walked behind a different register and quickly walked away giving us false hope that the line would move faster. There's no communication as to what's going on. They need a way for pass holder to scan themselves in and not rely on the staff Super understaff, nobody check or give the black light stamps (like other locations would) to ensure the kids are leaving with their actual parents. read more

Only minutes after arriving, my 4-year-old child's unlimited play card was stolen. When I approached the manager on duty for assistance, I was extremely disappointed by her response. She simply told me there was nothing she could do. I understand that the business may not be responsible for someone stealing a personal item, but I expected the manager to at least make an effort to assist us--whether that meant checking cameras, asking staff if they had seen anything, or helping us determine what could be done about the stolen play card. The fact that my 4-year-old had only been there for minutes and we were immediately put in this situation was upsetting enough. Being dismissed by the manager instead of receiving any assistance made the experience even worse. I would expect much better customer service and support, especially when a young child is involved. read more

My granddaughter's seventh birthday was held at Chuck E. Cheese today. I don't think I've been to a Chuck E. Cheese in 20 years or more and what a positive change from what I remember. For the two hour party window they put on a very organized event. During the two hour party, the kids get cards that they're able to use unlimited for two hours which really keeps the kids busy and having fun. The cheese and pepperoni pizza that was served was not bad at all. This location was spotless and overall service was excellent. Looks like a great place to take your kids for a party. read more

Saw exit a strange man, looked under the influence. They weren't stamping the kids the cashier said there was too many people. "There was literally no one, compared to other days specially for a Friday" Dirty, Unfriendly and unprofessional environment. The drinking fountain had 4 out of service drinks on each side. It was a busy Friday but isn't that what they're supposed to prepare for?! The salad bar was out of lots of stuff and when they filled the dressing they refilled the same container and barely 1/4 of the way so it ran out quite quickly. They never refilled the croutons and at one point the lettuce was so low and just covered in water. It took almost an hour for 1 pizza and cheesy bread. I feel bad for the employees who were having to deal with upset customers. Many people were upset and expressing their frustration. FYI this address doesn't exist. Oddly enough, the address on here takes you to the location on W Valley Parkway. Not exactly sure how, but it does. There is only one Chuck E Cheese's location in Escondido and it's 1126 W Valley Pkwy. We thought we were driving to a new location until it took us to the same one we always go to. I was there today with my son and 2 granddaughters we got there right when they opened. Someone was cleaning or working on the trampoline area. That should be done before customers come in. One of the fountain machines was not dispensing ice and the Pepsi was not working only raw carbonation was coming out. I told a lady worker she said she would tell the manager. I talked to Brian who I think was the manager he said he would get to it as soon as he could. Nit only were they not busy when I asked but we were there over 2 hours and the ice and the Pepsi were never looked at or fixed by any employee. Had my daughter's birthday party at this location. And i must say the service was absolutely terrible. It was on June 19th at 1230pm. For Kalaya Gomez. It was the worst experience ever. Having to pay double for the trampoline socks because the employe forgot to give them to me the first time. The Women employees were the worst at that shift, someone needs to be fired. Rude and unprofessional. I will never come back due to the employees rudeness and disrespect. I will never recommend this location to anyone. The girl at the counter had calmly let the woman know there was no outside food permitted and then she started yelling in the girl's face. One of the nicer Chuckeee Cheeesessse that I have been to. Came here for my daughters friends 3rd birthday party and it was really fun! This location is really big and spacious and there are so many fun games!! My daughter really enjoyed it and everything was nice and clean. The workers here are very sweet and I enjoyed the birthday party here! Whenever we needed assistance someone came to help. If this location wasn't so far to where I live I would def come back here all the time!! read more

Inflation has hit chuck e cheese big time. What a rip. Haven't been here in a year, but still. Big sign in the window offering a special for only $8.99, same signs inside restaurant, however staff said "we're not offering that this week". Why, because it's Easter week spring break. What a deceiving rip. Free game coins no longer offered with purchase of food. Rip. Now you have to buy cards to activate games that time out after 30 minutes and cost $10. Rip. This is the worst place ever, machines don't work but take your credits, then games work and no tickets spit out. On this game jackpot for gold ball is 150 tickets but there is no Gold JP ball. It's not even in the machine. Manager says nothing they can do. Oh just wait it's so effin dirty. This was like our 5th time going to this dump cause it's close to home. But not no more. Chuck E. Cheese beats Dave and Buster's any day of the week. We had Abby's birthday party here a year back, and you know what, it was the best birthday party I ever had (thanks for the memories, babe). Pizza's great, they serve beer and wine, and they have cooler games, so what if you're surrounded by screaming kids who've wet themselves - come to think of it, D & B's can be exactly the same, except you can push these kids around! We never waited for one game, we hogged the photo machine for the better part of the day, and NO ONE challenged me in the ball pit. And if ever a kid was to complain, there I was, hands on my hips and waving a scolding finger... The kids working at this place were cool too, they were quick to fix the games and reimburse tokens, plus they always rounded up when we traded in our tickets for prizes. Awesome! read more

Pro: I survived another Bday in a CEC, surprisingly clean, useful and caring staff - sing and dance to boot! Con: That damn rat, so so pizza, where the hell is the Star Wars machine!? Monday night kids party........................you'd think the place would be somewhat empty??? NOT It was packed with kids and our party was most of the people there. CRAZY! It was nice all in all, there might of been allot of kids but this location was the cleanest I've seen. The staff was polite and they were fast to replace empty pizza trays and supplies!! My son had fun and we even got to see Chuck E Cheese which was fun and hilarious to watch the kids who were scared shitless of him.......i.e. my Lil cousin screaming her head off in terror!! They serve beer at the rate of $4.99 and one beer per hour.......lame but I see where they are coming from. This shouldn't be a place for us adults to get trashed at. The Chuck E Cheese of my past is long gone, in its place is a cheap imitation. i went to this Chuck E Cheese last night with my buddy and his kids for pizza and games. A plus size to Chuck E Cheese is that it is highly affordable as a 40 tokens, a large pizza, and 4 soft drinks were 20 something dollars. All of the games cost 1 token, so the tokens went a long way and were not that expensive to purchase more. The selection of games was good with all of the typical ski-ball, basketball, car racing, shooters, etc... The problem is that all of this highly affordable entertainment comes at a price...of the four basketball games, only 3 worked and of the 3 that worked only 2 gave tickets, of the 8 ski-ball games, only 3 worked and had adults playing on them all night, not kids adults. This theme was how the rest of the night went. Thankfully the kids didn't fully understand everything because they were so young, but a vast majority of the games didn't work or didn't give tickets, and when you brought this to the attention of the staff they gave us looks of boredom and anger that were bothering them to actually fix a broken machine. Also one of the reasons the games are so cheap is that they are all knockoffs or games that were created over 20 years ago...such as the "need for speed" racing game, was actually a "feel the speed" racing game whose graphics were like I said 20 years old and so bad you could hardly see in front of you. The food however was actually quite good and the beer was cold and really not that expensive for the setting. Overall Chuck E Cheese is a highly affordable place to take your kids, but comes at the high price of quality and working games. Manager Terrible...no respect for the customer or flexibility to make it a good experience

I know its expensive for what you get, but what can you say, we had fun!! shooting hoops, making id cards, playing "lets make a deal," running from station to station with enthusiasm! the tokens will get you a toy worth about a dollar. but our little family member spendt about ten minutes picking out the perfect one dollar toy. afterwards she carried it around like it was the Hope Diamond. its the kind of place adults dont understand, doesnt seem worth the money, seems very little "bang for the buck." but to my little one its a real good time, which is all that matters to me. read more

I think its a great place for young kids. There are more games and things they can do here compared to boomers, Belmont park or any other arcade. It's also a token each so you dont have to spend much on games and they can pick a toy for prizes which they love! ( even though those toys are super cheap) it's also small enough that you dont have to be super worried about them getting lost. There are however not a lot of variety of food which isn't so bad because their options are what kids would eat and its good for a quickly meal. I found this location's layout to be much better than the Hibert St location in Scripps Ranch/Mira Mesa. I also felt the employees were a lot more engaged and happy. We were at a kid's birthday party, and all of the kids had an excellent time. The employees attending the party were energetic, and anticipated the needs to the guests. However, there was a distinct smell of stinky feet/butthole at several of the spots around the place. That was pretty damned gross. read more

i've had great experiences at this location with my family. i've attened 1 birthday party and i take my kids there regularly for dinner. weekends are SUPER busy. the staff is polite and very promt. i make sure to always bring coupons with me from the sunday newspaper. read more
