The service department has a big lack of communication and competency. I took my equinox in to have the air conditioner worked on. They charged me twice for the same part which I found when looking over the invoice. Then they checked me out and I started the car and it still wasn't working. I took it back to the bay. After investigating the service manager said it was a defective part that the technicians didn't tell him about. So had I not been diligent and asked questions I would have driven off without the car being fixed and paying for it twice. So frustrating! read more

Ooh where to start! I initially took my vehicle in for a check engine light and was told that I couldn't drop off because they didn't have anyone to look at it at the time but to make sure I don't go over my miles because my warranty would be up, insane since I reported it before my warranty was up. I was also told that I wouldn't have any issues driving with the check engine light on. Once I finally got it in the shop on Jan 20 I had to pay for a "diagnostic fee" even though it was warranty work and was not given a loaner. Once they diagnosed my vehicle I was informed I need to service a part 100,000 miles before GMs recommendation. I asked them why that wouldn't be covered if the part was failing to make it to the 200,000 miles that GM claims. It was then that Marvin told me that they looked up my vehicle specifics and that I was correct that it didn't need service until 200,000 miles. So now I'm confused, what vehicle were they looking at prior when I was told it would cost me 4700.00 for service?? Quickly after it was brushed off as a sensor replacement and that my vehicle would be ready Jan 22. I picked up my vehicle it was still driving the same and making the same noise as before so I didn't feel like it was repaired correctly. Turns out it was not repaired correctly and I was back in the shop on feb 23 for the check engine light. The service advisor checked the code (same code as before)and told me that I needed to leave my truck at the shop to repair, that it wasn't good to drive on, after the first advisor Marvin told me that it was safe to drive with that code. They had my truck for 2 weeks diagnosing the issue while I was left without a loaner again. During this time I reached out asking for updates and would not receive any responses. I believe on march 10 or 11 I had to call and finally was told that they would have to replace the timing chain on my vehicle and it would be 2 to 4 weeks and they would not be issuing me a loaner. Terrible communication if any during this time period. My vehicle was finally ready for pick up on April 1. When I picked up my vehicle, no one took the time to explain the repairs that had been done since this was a major repair. They handed me my keys, I walked out to my vehicle and they left me on the low fuel light!!! I immediately had to drive to the gas station and then I noticed that my electric steps where not working correctly so I had to drive it right back to the shop. I spent about 3 or so hours there before Marvin came and told me that they had no idea how to fix the steps and did not offer a solution or compensation to take to another shop to fix their mistake. HOW IS THAT OK??? I get home that night and my check engine light returned!!! I took it back to the shop on April 2 at 7:30 am for them to check. It was there for the majority of the day and I received a Call stating that my shutters on the grill didn't work correctly because my truck was in the shop for the last 2-3 weeks and they are working fine now. At this point why would I believe that because they have yet to fully fix my vehicle or communicate at all during the entire process. This was a 6 week process that they left me without a vehicle and did not communicate about the repair process or any ETAs. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The service manager does not reach out or respond to emails. They refuses to give anyones contact information out but I'm starting to see why. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!!!!! We took our car to Chuck FairBanks Chevrolet for a oil change and wheel alignment we had a 12:30 appointment we were on time . It was supposed to be an hour and a half to get the car done but it took 3 hours and I had to ask why it was taking so long, so I leave Fairbanks and my engine light comes on & the car is shaking so it's not possible that they did a wheel alignment I went back and spoke with the manager and he told me that I Didn't give them permission to drive my car. I wasn't asked if they could drive my car it doesn't make sense to me I really feel that Chuck Fairbanks Chevrolet is not trustworthy I don't recommend this dealer for repair and maintenance. read more

I don't understand how some of these dealers continue to operate in the communities they are supposed to serve. My experience at this dealership highlighted the lack of accountability and care for their customers. I have a Chevy Volt I purchased from Carvana and only visited this particular place because one of my tires kept going flat. I called parts and ordered a tire. This process went seamlessly. However, when I showed up to have it installed, this is where things took a turn that showed me never to return. My appointment was a 2:30. I arrived timely and saw Blaine. He signed me in directed me to the waiting area and never returned. I believe in being patient at any appointment because I don't want to be one of those customers who run to the window asking how much longer. However, after 2 hours, my car was not ready. I went to the window and asked if it normally takes 2 hours to install a tire. They went back to check and one of the women said they were getting it back. One hour later, my ONE tire was on and they called me up. I was told they only had one tool that removed tires and put on the new one, so that's why it was a 3 hour wait. Now, that could be true, sad as that is. But, after 2 hours, why didn't someone come and update me? In a 3 hour span, I could have purchased my tire and gone over to Discount Tires or any other dealer and had that ONE tire installed. On 062922 my spark plugs, intake & exhaust cam sensor, catalytic converter and front oxygen sensor was replaced for $2,501.45. My check engine light came back on and 071522 my timing chains & actuators were replaced for $1901.25. On 090622 as a result of bad gas my fuel tank was serviced, bad fuel was drained, etc for $1297.38. Less than 24 hours later my check engine light back on...I immediately took it back to the dealership and now they are saying it will be $1851.48 to replace my catalytic converter And both O2 sensors again saying it may have been damaged due to the bad gas and they wouldn't have known it was messed up. Huh??? This makes absolutely no sense and all parties involved should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Information regarding flex fuel lawsuit at: https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2020/gm-flex-fuel-lawsuit-dismissed.shtml Provides details regarding GMC flex fuel motors failing with the use of this product, although they are reportedly able to use this fuel, the only reason the plaintiff loss her lawsuit, is that her warranty ended within days of attempting to get GMC to admit, and address this malfunction of parts related to these vehicles: Here is just a snippet of what was brought to light regarding GMC: Plaintiff Joli Reid filed the flex-fuel class action lawsuit by alleging the GM vehicles were "supposedly designed to operate on E85 fuel," and since 2006 the vehicles have been equipped with "yellow, corn-colored" filler caps. GM has allegedly sold millions of flex-fuel vehicles in the U.S. and has publicly stated the vehicles can use E85 fuel or gasoline. In June 2019, the plaintiff purchased a used 2017 Chevrolet Equinox flex-fuel vehicle that had nearly 19,000 miles on the odometer. After filling up her vehicle with E85 fuel in August 2019, the check engine and warning lights allegedly illuminated, so the vehicle was taken to a GM dealership. According to the lawsuit, the service department found the "plunger for the high pressure fuel pump is sticking due to the use of E-85." The service department further found contaminated fuel needed to be removed from the tank, costing the plaintiff $915.03 for the repairs. On September 3, the state of Michigan collected a sample of the E85 fuel sold at the gas station and found that fuel sample "met [the] sample acceptability requirements" for E85 fuel. The lawsuit alleges "internal GM documents state that 'excessive use of E85' [fuel] may 'caus[e] a plunger internal to the fuel pump to stick.'" Friday, July 14, I spoke with a Service Rep over the phone about the issue with my car. He suggested that I bring it in and they would check it out. The gentleman I spoke with was over the phone was unavailable, granted it was 10 minutes before closing...therefore, I spoke with Blake, another Service Rep...he advised me that he would contact before 1pm Saturday with an update, and If he doesn't contact me before 1, I would need to contact him. Saturday morning, no call...I called around noon and Blake was unavailable and did not return my call. Monday morning, I called and asked for Blake, again unavailable...I know sometimes things are not as kosher / smooth in a service department, but some form of contact to a customer would be warrant...no contact Monday. Finally, Tuesday I received a call around noon stating that they have identified the issue, the cost, and other recommendations. I was pleased that my vehicle would ready, but was terribly disappointed with the lack of communication and response time. Lesson here: Look for a dealership which offers free loaner vehicles, they are interested in getting your vehicle in and out in a timely fashion. Friendly Chevrolet offer loaners for some services. Check around, there are numerous Chevy / GMC dealerships in the DFW area. read more

Do not take your vehicle there. They had my car over 6 weeks and when I received it back they had taken several items out. The shop's manager Stan is horrible. He made excuses and gave lies on why the repairs weren't completed. When I called him out on it (because I happen to work for the insurance company) he started to back track on what he said. I had to call everyday because they did not give any updates to me. After 5 weeks, I finally asked Stan did he not believe I was due any type of empathetic statement or an apology for thier delays. Chuck Fairbanks that's located in DESOTO TX is the worst Chevrolet Dealership I have ever been to in DFW, I take my car back on 10/2021 to get my fan fixed and they call me back stating that I needed a new air-conditioning for my car. When I picked my car up I was charged $1800.00, when I drove off the fan went out again, so I and husband brought it back to the dealership, they kept the car so I went online and wrote a bad review about what I was experiencing. When I pick the car up, the Service Manager came to the front lobby and asked me could I take the bad review down because people would see the bad rating online, and that they had fixed my car. Well, the fan went out again so I just drove the car thinking that the fan would kick in and come on, well to this day $1800.00 later my fan still not working on my 2013 Mabilu. When I brought my car back for the 3rd time, the Service guys saw it was me and my husband, so the guy that help me the first time walked out of the office, so my husband went in and the other 2 guys kept their heads down not acknowledging that my husband was standing there( NO OTHER CUSTOMERS WHEN IN THERE AT THE TIME). If I could give them less than one star, I would. I had my car towed here on July 31st 2016, and my car was finished Friday, October 21st 2016. The service I needed? New transmission. In an older car, the transmission also went out. It took them ten days. Why did it take Chuck Fairbanks Chevy over two and a half months to accomplish the same? The answer I was given: workload. They were too busy. My car sat and sat. They took *so* long, my car insurance would no longer pay for me to be in a rental car. We have great coverage, and even with ample communication with Chuck Fairbanks, they couldn't figure out why it took so long. In all my dealings with Chuck Fairbanks Chevy, I never got any apologies for this drastically terrible turnaround. I was met with shrugs and told that it is just the way things are there. When my car had been there 77 days, the Service Manager shrugged at my concerns, and said I wouldn't believe how backed up there were. Ha, ha. I'll believe it. But see, here's the thing. I called every other day, from the day my car was dropped off, to check on the status. I didn't leave it and forget about it. I was constantly assured that it would be seen "soon" - and by the time my insurance had authorized funds to Chuck Fairbanks, I was essentially hostage because I was told it would be too much of a hassle to change shops in the middle of a claim. The bottom line is that if you want to deal with mechanics you can trust to be honest, efficient, and to have any semblance of decent customer service, there is truly no way you can choose Chuck Fairbanks and get a quality experience. read more

I cannot speak for sales, but the service department was downright AWFUL. We took our vehicle in and got the transmission replaced. Warranty company sent a bad transmission so we had to wait for them to send a better one, all fine, not the dealership's fault. The problem was the dealership taking almost a week to begin working on our transmission and taking another two weeks to finally get it done. They kept making promises about when our vehicle would be ready and never held to them. They also had a horrible attitude about it despite me being polite about the ordeal. Will NEVER go there for service again and will go out of our way to discourage people to never get work done there. $350 monthly payment in what was basically dead money since we didn't have the vehicle, just AWFUL. read more

I have been a customer of Chuck Fairbanks for a while now; having purchased a vehicle from them in the past and have had body work and service performed on multiple vehicles. I have always been pleased with their service (particularly with the great service received from Blake and his team ) - until today. I took my 2021 Blazer Premier to them to have body work done - I was rear-ended in 8/22 (backend damage otherwise in great condition - no other issues). I did not get my car back until 11/22. In all fairness part of the delay was backordered parts to which I do not fault the dealership; however, I can fault them for not being able to work on my car right away because of staffing shortages. Upon picking up my car I had to return it to Chuck Fairbanks for the following reasons: (1) My rearview camera was installed backwards; (2) my auto shutoff function was not working properly; (3) the black panel in my driver's side door was not reinstalled properly and was sticking out; (4) I asked for my car to be serviced while it was there (since they had it 3 months and it was time for maintenance) and they failed to perform an oil change (even though they had my service records and should have known it was time for an oil change; (5) my car smelled like burning plastic when driven; and (6) my Blazer emblem in the driver's side door (which was installed when I dropped the car off) was removed and not reinstalled. Items 1-5 should have been noticed and rectified when they performed a checklist of the work performed (clearly they skipped this step) before releasing the vehicle to me. Again, I had to take my Blazer back to the dealership to get these items resolved. When I brought up the subject of my Blazer emblem being removed and not reinstalled (Item 6) - Ray (in the body shop) insisted they had nothing to do with the part being removed and would not reinstall it. He even went a step further and suggested the dealership that installed the part initially did shotty work and I should take it back to them for repairs. I did not get any type of apology for the inconvenience of having to take my car back to the dealership or for any of the items that they missed and took responsibility for resolving. I am so disappointed in my experience this time with Chuck Fairbanks Chevrolet. As I stated earlier, this is my one extremely bad experience with this dealership and I am disappointed because they took great care of my cars in the past. I am not sure what has happened to this dealership. NOTE TO ANYONE that does business with this dealership in the future, take pictures of every inch of your car before leaving it with them in case something comes up broke or missing - they can't claim they didn't do it. I was able to get a good price, the salesman was very good. It was after I bought the car, everything promised to me was not taken care of. After getting no answers back, and getting very frustrated hearing multiple different stories and being lied to, I had finally had it. I reached out to the GM trying to get answers on how to fulfill the services promised to me during negotiation. I also spoke to him about my overall experience I received after the purchase and after a few days after my purchase. You would think he would be at least trying to represent his company in a positive way, and apologizing for my experience. (Not real name) Would give NEGATIVE 100 stars if I could. Have been loyal customers to this dealership and Jeff Sorrels for 20+ years. But that is GONE. Several weeks ago, ordered a truck on a Thursday, called the next Tuesday for a price. Jeff wouldn't give me one, not even an estimate, just said "let's wait til it comes in to see if there are any rebates." How are people supposed to plan a purchase if you don't know the price? PLUS, he screwed me on my purchase years ago, and when I told him "he owed me," all he could say was "you got a good vehicle." So on those two counts, especially the no price, let us leave this dealership and Jeff forever. I always told him to give me the best deal he could give me...it is apparent he never did. I hope this is how he learns we bought another truck from another dealership. Don't like attitudes and no information. But Jeff is a salesperson. Less than 30 miles and the check engine light came on.(very suspicious) they refused to even look at it. Come to find out the car was very low on coolant and had only 2 quarts of oil. For a business who should be more accommodating to the customers, they do not provide loaners, courtesy rides/pick-ups, nor do they rinse or vacuum your vehicle out when you are having services done with them. I feel that's the very least they can offer after getting your money!!! read more

My wife took the day off to have our vehicle serviced and inspected. She showed up at the Service department for the 8:30am appointment. She was informed that the oil change, brake inspection, state inspection & signal light repair would take a long time maybe in the late afternoon. She was offered a shuttle as they might not get to the brake inspection until later. Seems legit right... So my wife took the shuttle home to wait until the car was finished. I checked in with my wife at 10am, 12pm to see if the dealership gave her an update on our vehicle. There was no update and finally at 4:14pm to let her know the car wouldn't be ready until tomorrow with no ETA in sight. I did understand the dealership being busy, but to also inform my wife that nothing was done from 8:30am-4:14pm was very frustrating, especially when you know there are 10-20 minute oil change facilities in the area. So I called the service number department and a gentleman there told me that he told my wife if she left the dealership that our vehicle would be moved down the pecking order if other cars came in... Really!?! So if I come in for a service to be performed and you offer a shuttle to take me home just to throw my vehicle on the back burner... This added to my frustration. I got off the phone with the gentleman after I restated what he told me to see if he had chose the wrong words to relay to me or if it sparked in him that it wasn't a good customer service message. I then called back to speak with the Service manager, the manager did not answer but I left my phone number and name. Not even five minutes later after the call my wife called me in a surprising manner asking me, "What did you say?" I told her I just called and got the same treatment; then later called asking for the supervisor. Well the dealership called my wife and said that they were on her way to pick her up in the shuttle and that everything would be done except for the brake inspection. So I went to the dealership when I got off work to meet my wife there; and the service department told her they had checked everything. No one apologized, just a bill (The bill wasn't a big deal). This is for the Service & Collision Center. Came in Friday AM & they were already a little busy. They told me it would be about a 45-60 minute wait as they replaced a part on my console. It was done within 45 minutes. I was also able to get a quick estimate on one of my panels that needed to be painted. Spent maybe an hour here and got two things checked off on my to do list. Would definitely come back to this location. read more
