I've been coming to this place since I was a kid and whenever I am in town I always make it a point to stop here. Is it the best food in the world...no, but it's consistent and love that its a small family owned spot. The fries are crinkle cut and so so so good. The ice in their sodas is just special. Their chili is bomb, chili dogs are great, burgers are great. Just a great small local burger stand. I'm glad they FINALLY accept cards after all of these years. Always friendly service and epitomizes the whole small town feel of a little burger stand in the middle of town. I'm 41 now and lived in SoCal for almost 20 years and would always stop by when I'm in town...I live in Seattle now and still make it a point to stop in for my chili dog and fries just because it tastes just great! read more

Not sure what the hype is. Ordered a chili do with onions and there were hardly any chili. Fries were cold and hamburger is flavorless. The only positive was the young lady that helped me at the counter. Also, the price is reasonable. read more

They have the best chili in town and maybe the best chili ever! I have tried the chili at Pinks in Los Angeles but this one is way better. The chili cheese fries are the best because they use the crinkle cut fries. The service is fast and friendly and the ambiance is great too. read more

Chuck Wagon! It's a staple it's old school, the menu on the building has more history than most of these reviewers have been around! It's not gourmet so don't come on here bashing the food! It's good damn food! The chili dog the fries the crushed ice! I come here every so often and never dissatisfied, service on point! . Frito pie! Chicken strips! Went back again and I don't know why I continue to give this place additional chances. Trash, Trash, Trash!!!!! Please stop giving this place anything thing other than horrible reviews. They serve microwaved hot garbage food. SMH!!!! I eat the food and it is immediately followed by epic disappointment. My Auntie was craving a chili dog so Chuck wagon it is. She ordered a hot dog with a side of chili so that it wouldn't get soggy. I had a chili cheese dog, which is twice the length of a regular dog. Just took a quick Run to Sanger this morning and stopped by chuckwagon have got the french fries in a big bag and the chili dog. We drove home and ate the whole thing on the way home chili on the chili dog is to die, for I would love to learn the recipe just out of fun, the hamburger in the chili has real good flavor it comes through and those little pop of heat in there. It's just a real nice chilly. The service is always nice people. There are good people we will absolutely be returning. Thank you. read more

I've heard about this place so many times, but haven't found an opportunity to go. So, on a Saturday afternoon we packed up the car and headed over for a chili dog. Okay, we walk out, and it kind of felt a little strange. I don't know what happened, but the line of people just kept starting at our family. Do we look out of place? Can you tell we weren't from Sanger? I don't know, it was just a very strange feeling... But, we get our hot dogs and fries and eat them in the car (covid). The chili cheese dog was really good! It reminded me of the Coney Island dogs from downtown. The fries were crinkle cut and they were pouring out of the bag. It was a really good chili dog. I don't know if I'd travel from Fresno to get another one, but, if I'm ever in the area again I'll stop by again! read more

Probably the best chilli dogs in the valley. At times I plan my visit to Sanger around lunch time (except on Wednesday) and I pick up some of those yummy chilli dogs with fries. I arrive a little after 11:00 because the place gets very busy. ..quickly! This place has been a part of my life for over 40 years. I am a big fan of the Clark burger and their fries. I really miss the shakes , the best milkshakes ever. I don't think it's quite the same quality but it's still good . It's a place for a casual old fashioned burger or chill dog . Of course it's not healthy but it's definitely a nice treat once in awhile with a nostalgic feel to sit in back on picnic tables. read more

Holy guacamole!!! This was my first time here and while I was waiting in line I asked for recommendations. Everyone recommended that I get anything with chili. I pass through Sanger pretty often and Chuck Wagon has the best chili , every time I go there the food is always delicious , I've tried Clark burgers, fish sandwich, chili cheese dog and the fries are amazing always fresh to order.... So disappointed. Was craving their chili dog but it had been a couple of years since my last visit. Drove from Fresno in the dense fog to get my fix but oh how I wished I stayed home. What I got was a bag of garbage. First let talk about how the chili dog, chili burger and chili fries were just thrown in a bag. Making it a 10 minute job to remove and unwrap so I wasn't wearing chili all day on my clothes. This is not the same place I ate two years ago. I took one bite of my chili dog and chili burger and scrapped it. I had bites of the chili fries and did the same. Flavorless would be over-estimating. Not sure how you can even remain in business putting out this so called food. Last but not least my receipt said $14.13 but my CC charge showed up as $14.62. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I didn't want to do this, however I took my kiddos for the last time to Chuck wagon after going for so many years as a kid and now taking my own kiddos. Food was disappointing, hot dog wiener was cold and very skinny so they changed the hot dog and the buns were like from Sunny Select ripped and fell apart easily not like the buns from before. Bags of fries were smaller and a lot of hard ones. Service is good. Ambiance well you know it needs to be updated but that's what makes it Chuck Wagon. Sorry it's our last time going there. Quality is better than quantity. read more

OMG!!! You cant pass through Sanger, CA without stopping at Chuck Wagon..It is Sanger. Friendly and comfortable. I have relatives who live in Houston , Texas and when they visit they dont leave without taking back some frozen chilli from Chuck Wagon. My Grandmother God rest her soul loved a chilli dog. I went to tell them I was missing what I thought was a deluxe burrito but I was actually missing my chili cheese fries and she did not believe me so she wanted me to bring my whole order back to her so she can double check and it turned out she was missing my chili cheese fries and she said that I didn't get charged for them which they did. Just going to add my 2 cents in for the iconic old school chili dog stand. I don't have it that often but when I do it's so good. Chili dog with chili fries is generally the order of the day. The burgers aren't half bad, but I always seem to go for the same thing and when I stray I'm just not as satisfied. If you go on a diet be prepared to start over on day one. read more

Oh my gosh! I have lived in Sanger most of my life and loved Chuck Wagon most of my life. I lived out of town and still drove in for this amazing food. Deluxe burritos are super and the chili dogs are too die for. The fries are great, especially the chili fries, awesome. You must go if you are in our little town. read more

The one time we have clearly overcooked meat that tastes like horse the manager completely dismissed my 72-yo mother in a very rude way. I guess selling "1000s of sandwiches today with zero complaints" is good enough to completely dismiss us. What likely happened was they saved the overcooked meat till the end of the day (we went 20 minutes before closing) and we were the schmucks that got it. What really pissed me off though is that the manager had veins popping out of his neck. The way he was talking to my elderly mother was inappropriate. Thankfully he cooled down when I walked up to the conversation. All she wanted was to replace our 4 tritip sandwiches with another. Whoever the manager was needs some serious customer service training and needs to learn how to speak to people.
