As an out-of-towner, I decided to give this place a try since I was craving steak and heard this was one of the closest spots to where I'm staying. The weather was nice, so I chose the outdoor seating area, which was clean and fairly organized. When it came time to order drinks, I asked the waiter what was popular and tried getting some recommendations. Unfortunately, he didn't seem very familiar with the drink menu -- including basic beer comparisons -- and even asked whether Cabernet was a red or white wine. Not a huge deal, but not the best first impression either. I ordered a glass of red wine and water. The wine arrived, but the water never did until much later. For appetizers, I ordered the sliders and buffalo wings (I'm big on protein). The sliders were actually pretty good. I'm no expert, but they didn't quite taste freshly grilled -- though I didn't think too much of it at the time. The buffalo wings, however, were a big DISAPPOINTMENT. As someone who really enjoys wings, these had almost no flavor or heat. They honestly tasted like reheated leftovers with barely any sauce. Then came the entrée: the New York Strip. I usually order either a NY Strip or Ribeye when trying different steakhouses, so I had some expectations. Unfortunately, this was another DISAPPOINTMENT. The fries tasted refried -- the kind of taste most people recognize immediately. The steak looked great visually, but the flavor and texture made it seem like it had been cooked earlier and reheated. There was even a napkin or paper placed underneath to absorb the juices (mainly blood, I had to remove it myself and place it on another plate), which was odd. No real vegetables or sides besides the fries either, unless you count the canned corn. What surprised me most was the service. Nobody checked in to ask how the meal was, and I only received the water after the appetizers had already been served. After finishing my food, I sat there long enough to watch an entire episode of a show on my phone -- around 20 minutes -- before the waiter finally came back. By that point, I didn't even bother asking for another drink or dessert, assuming the feeling was mutual. Overall, not a great experience. Maybe I came on an off night, but based on this visit, I wouldn't personally recommend the food. If anything, this place may be better suited for drinks than dining. I had a good experience here, with the 3 appetizers I had with drinks. Can't beat the beer prices on game night and the appetizer special after 9 is great for a reasonably priced night out. It's not a five star restaurant but a good priced steak house, that I enjoy. Ribs are great on rib night Wednesdays, and the service I had was decent and kind. Gets a good rating from me. read more

5/5 for our server who was attentive yet gave us space, allowed us to sit and chat for hours because it wasn't busy. Prices really are excellent here. We aware of the extra 3% that gets added to the bill to count for inflation I guess? I would rather see it in the prices. I upgraded to sweet potato fries with my prime rib burger. It's not very often that a one-star review gets turned around into a four, but at the eleventh hour, this place turned the experience around. Since the pandemic, we have tried to support our hometown restaurants. We will not dine out as we consider that too risky, but we get takeout every weekend and have tried many new places to try to help our local restaurants survive. We got coupons in the mail for Chuck's and decided to give them a try. I finally got fully vaccinated on Friday night, and we wanted to get some takeout to celebrate. The ordering process was painful. I'm an online order girl, and usually order ahead for a specific time on my lunch so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I couldn't do that because the coupons had no barcode and no coupon code. I also realized the coupons were for the location much farther away from our house, but that was just a minor inconvenience. I tried to call in and order ahead but the girl on the phone told me, "I don't want to lose your order." Annoying. So, after my jab, I called from my car to order. I told the girl that I had a coupon for "Buy one entrée and one of equal or lesser value free." She immediately said, "That's for dine-in only." So, I read the coupon to her that said: Valid for dine-in or pick-up only." After we got that ironed out, she told me to go ahead with the order. I ordered my surf and turf dinner and was getting ready to order hubby's chicken and rib dinner, but she freaked out and said, "You can't order two surf and turfs and get one free, that's like $30." I tried to tell her I knew that and that I was going to order the $20 dinner next. She refused to listen and mumbled something about needing to get a manager. My blood was boiling at that point. I heard another girl ask her if she'd put the phone on mute, and girl number 1 said yes, but she hadn't. I heard her say, "This lady is trying to order with a coupon and she wants to get two surf and turfs and get one free, and she's just not getting it." I was furious at that point. I screamed into the phone, "NO, YOU aren't getting it." The new girl got on the phone and asked how she could help and explained she was someone new. I told her I realized that and told her I was trying to tell the other girl that I wanted to order the chicken and rib dinner but that she wouldn't listen and just talked over top of me (my worst pet peeve!). While I was ordering, the main manager must have walked up and asked the new girl about the coupon I was using. He barked in this harsh voice, "Well, she has to bring the coupon." Like I'm trying to steal something from them. Talk about insulted? THAT is how they treat their customers? I resolved right then to never eat there again. I told the girl. "Yep, I'm holding it right here in my hand." How the EFF do you send out coupons to the neighborhood and are not educated about them in any way and act like the customer is horrible for using them? Absolutely terrible first impression. When I got there, there, the parking was really far from the front door which had a HUGE sign in front of it saying Takeout Available. I walked all the way around the building and when I got the the front, this incredibly rude waitress barked at me from the patio and said, "Hey, you have to go around to the side." I tried to ask if I could cut through the side where they had the patio sectioned off, but she completely ignored me. At this point, I was ready to leave the food and just go home. It was so hot, and my arm was starting to throb, so I'll admit I wasn't in the best mood. I reached the side door and some other girl came out, and I told her I had a pick-up order. When I'd tried to order ahead, the girl told me it would only take 15 minutes if I called in later. It had taken me 20 minutes to drive there, but I was told that half my order was ready, and I'd have to wait for the other half. In my frustration, I called hubby while waiting to tell him about the whole miserable experience. I was on the phone with him when another girl came out with the order. I asked if they took the coupon off and she said yes, they deducted $11.99. I knew that wasn't the price of hubby's dinner. I was trying to tell her what I ordered and YET again she talked over top of me and tried to get me to just take the food. Ron screamed out of the phone, "Is mine chicken and ribs?" Because she kept saying, quarter chicken dinner. Of course, it turned out it was the wrong thing. At that point I was just done. I did wait for the new food to be prepared. When the girl came back out, she was very apologetic. We'd ordered two appies and they even took those off the bill, and I didn't expect that at all. I could tell she really felt bad, and started to calm down. When I got home with the food, I couldn't believe how delicious it was. I'm not a big chain person, and prefer to eat at independent restaurants, which are usually above and beyond better. My steak was perfect, chicken was juicy. Uggh out of space! read more

I'm not sure why it has such a harsh rating. The food was great and out quickly. Service was fantastic. Our server was Grace and she was fantastic and very friendly. Attentive and professional. The building is also amazing inside, plenty of TVs for all sporting events and anything else that may be playing, very open and inviting. read more

I am sooo sorry I went back for the punishment. The place went under new management, so I thought I would give them another chance , but that's it, it doesn't mean anything else they serve you the same garbage. I suggest a name change for Chuck's Roadkill. Stay away from this place as much and as far as you can. One star is too much for this place too bad it can't go in the minuses. I'm leaving no rating I called the gateway park location on Thursday Febrauary 15th to book a reservation for 14. The girl said its book, oh before you hang up can I have a name so I gave her my name. We showed up at the restaurant at 415, reservation was at 430. They said they didn't have a reservation booked for 14 at 430 but there was one for 16 at 630. They put some tables together for us and we sat down. The waitress came over and got our drink orders and brought those. She then took our order and we never saw her again. My husband finally went up to three people standing there at 530 and hour after we got there and asked if we could get some service. She came over and took more drink orders. Closer to 6 our food started to come. First some luke warm spaghetti for our youngest grandchild there. They brought out a Tbone steak that was burnt supposed to be med rare. All the steaks were overcooked. My grandsons hamburger had a knife stabbed into it. My other grandson got the Philly steak and couldn't finish it because it was so dry. My son in law was the last to get his food and when he was finished he got his mushroom skillet delivered. It was horrible service and no manager even came over to the table to say anything. I feel that someone should have took some responsibility we paid for this still and it was not worth it. We have gone to this location before on several occasions but after this I don't believe we will ever come back. read more

Service and food weren't good. It took 20 + minutes for them to take our order. There was 5 of us and all of our steaks came with with a thick burnt/charred layer. My boyfriend felt sick immediately after eating and by the end of the night he was vomiting multiple times until the morning. I didn't feel the best either but my symptoms weren't as bad as his. On Sunday June 21 2020 my girlfriend and I decided to take advantage of the patios open and go to Chucks for a burger or steak. They only had 8 tables open on the patio and it was peculiar that no effort was made to have seating indoors with distancing practices put in place. Nevertheless after a 10 minute wait we were seated. We got our drinks and placed our order. She had the 7 oz steak and fries and I had the bacon cheeseburger and fries. After over an hour's wait and a refill of my pint of beer, we finally got our food and to say that it was underwhelming is being kind. The fries were clearly sitting under lamps for more than 20 minutes as they we're limp and lacking in crunch. I didn't even touch the burger after being so underwhelmed by the side that came with it. Meanwhile, My gf was given a steak that wasn't medium rare as requested and her portion of fries was half of mine and I wasn't given what could be considered a good portion especially given the price. Her steak was still mooing! After polite mention of how the steak was done I was given $5 dollars off the bill which is reasonable given that she ate most of the steak. The bill came to $42 before the discount and even with the discount I felt that I was in now way given my money's worth. A final mention: their policy of ILLEGALLY taxing patrons with cutesy-worded names for the tax does NOT sit well with me nor is it implied by me that I am willing to pay your fake "tax" upon entering your premises. In short I will not be recommending Chucks Roadhouse as a whole to anyone because they are a cheap imitation of what a nice dining experience should be. Besides no one should have to wait over an hour for food when there are only 8 tables open. Either they were understaffed or their staff is incompetent. Ideally I'd like my money back. I still haven't eaten the cheeseburger which I doggy bagged. read more

My first time at chucks , I found the Service was fast and Prices were reasonable but you get what you pay for, food was not special and it was bland. I had the 10oz New York steak and potatoes and was not tasty at all. I did however enjoy the deep fried pickles and mozzarella sticks as the appetizer. read more

This has been my second time to the road house on gateway park drive, I forgot to write a boat my first review when I came here, for a quick summary it was an interesting place what's good music and good layout design for anyone looking to enjoy a nice meal or to watch the game, in my party was my mother, my father as well as myself. I had ordered a Mushroom Melt Burger for $9, the burger itself was bigger than I expected and was well put together but unfortunately needed quite a bit more sauce for it was a tad bit dry, I had fries on the side and the fries here are a thin cut, very Sim cut and could have been cooked a tad bit longer my dad had the original steak and lobster tail meal. The steak tasted a tad bit Bland and the corn on the cob was quite cold but he said the lobster tail was quite tasty. My mother ordered the fish and chips, though the fish tasted pretty good, it looked as if it was tossed to the ground an had been flatten by a truck. Aan had received no cowl slow or tarder sauce.. for my second trip I came with my girl friend, I had ordered a #pulledpork burger with onion rings and a fully loaded fries, as my last visit the burger was beautiful, but it needed more sauce..... the french fries were quite adequate, they seemed Adam Keeling at first as if they were just microwave but after digging into it I found I quite like the taste, I may suggest maybe try present them in a different way in the future my gf ordered a steak meal with fully loaded fries and a corn. Like my dad the corn was cold, the steak was laying with no taste and the fried onions we got on the side also had no taste and without knowing cost us $4... so far my judjemt is still in the middle, though my company has had trouble with meals mine continues to be on par, I still sujest rating it out for giggles but be aware of hidden coast.... read more

It was first time visiting and I brought 5 visitors from BC. Service was decent. A few things that should be mentioned. I ordered the Bacon app. "Sorry, we don't carry that anymore and besides it's not very good" Ordered the Beef dip sandwich. "Sorry we're out of beef, and there's also no Prime Beef" The Montreal smoked meat and Turkey club sandwiches looked good. Q, " can we substitute the salad for coleslaw. "Sorry we don't have coleslaw" The surf & turf was ordered. BIG MISTAKE. The size of the lobster tail was about the size of a small perch fillet. Steak was ordered med rare, came med. "Can the fries be exchanged for veggies"... "Sorry we don't have veggies" Would I go back. Probably for a cheap beer but not to eat. If you have a menu item, carry the item. The next day I called and spoke to the manager. I spoke to him of what I have just written. All he said was sorry and offered nothing to say. Seemed like he didn't care. Conversation didn't last too long. I told him I don't think I'd step foot into the place again and he didn't care. I hope Head Office reads this and kick his ass in gear. Great prices, food is decent. Jacob was our server initially, after sitting there for 15 minutes, he took our drink order, took about 20 mins to get those. One time we looked over looked like he was in an argument with his coworker clearly upset, throwing his hands in the air. We were there on a Friday night at 5:30, bar was pretty busy but the dinning area was empty. I'm a server myself and I understand when it's busy and you don't have enough time but this guy was just flat out a bad teammate. We knew what we wanted right off the hop weren't able to order our food after waiting 50 minutes. Finally a good server stepped in and helped us (Annie). Annie did as well as she could, along with the bartender who checked in on us once and a while but it was clear she was working out of her section looking to help. When it came to pay the bill Jacob's name was on the tab. So he just had Annie do all the work while he took the tip? That's not okay, it's also a sign of bad culture in a workplace and in all honesty ruined the mood. It was uncomfortable watching as a customer. I left a $0 tip on the machine and handed Annie 20%. Would be a great place if they figured out the service. read more

If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind eating off of plates with remnants from the last patron and is flexible on how your steak is prepared. If the temperature of your food is of no concern to you or if you do not have any respect for yourself and are okay with staff that doesn't have any for you either than this is definitely the place for you! It isn't often that you can find a place willing to serve you burnt food on dirty plates and charge you full price plus 3%. Most places would be over the top apologetic but don't worry you will not have to endure any of that here. This is an eat it the way it is and shut up kind of place. You know like your mother used to say "what do you think this is ...a restaurant?!" Served our food with no utensils and then took 5 minutes to bring them. Dried out bland chicken and burger. I've had jerky that's more tender than the meat they serve. Run as fast as you can away from the Chuck's Roadhouse on Gateway Drive in Kitchener...We frequent many of the eateries around the Sportsworld Drive area and tried Chuck's for the first and our only visit..We were seated quickly and orders were taken efficiently.. The beer was cold and came immediately..Food was an order of nachos which were chips dumped from a bag with a few tablespoons of nacho sauce..no real cheese..Diced tomatoes which you could count the pieces. Ordered a pound of wings came as 9 chicken wings with 2 wetnaps on a plate..no dipping sauce..no carrot or celery.. bill came with a 3% fee added as a honest to goodness charge for what..?? Not sure if this is legal or ethical... We told the waitress the nachos were skimpy and she responded people like Chuck's because they have cheap prices...We have enjoyed nachos at Fionn MCools with tons of toppings..an order two can share.. Chuck's may go the way of the dodo bird and no one would care.. Prices are not cheap or good value food if the customer is treated like a cash cow and not as a guest.. read more

Worst experience at a restaurant we've ever had. Hostile management when bringing clear kitchen issues to their attention. Waited over 57 minutes for entrees with about 20 guests in the entire restaurant. When entree came out it was over cooked and burnt, lobster tasted like it had been microwaved, almost as if they were spiteful in their actions. No reasoning with management and no clear resolutions. Young female manager with glasses stated nothing could be done and essentially we needed to suck it up and pay for it. She remained hostile and stated she was in a domestic dispute last night and felt intimidated by us. Can't even begin to start to explain why that personal information needed to be expressed to us. We apologized for that and she should probably get some assistance from her peers or owners. When ordering a med rare steak and they bring a different cut of steak, and comes out well done and charred they act like we were wrong. We tried reasoning with management and she acted like we were burdensome. Based on the reviews and the fact that it was empty when we showed up, it's quite evident that this location will not last long unless radical changes are made. read more

If there could be an option for 0 stars I would put that. We visited on Saturday Feb 8th after a full day of hockey which our family enjoy Chucks. This location though our first time going a few months ago was subpar food however we are always up to giving a place another because things aren't aLways perfect. Unfortunately it was still terrible. The service was ok but could have been better. The old man grey haired manager is super intimidating by the way he stands around and stares at people as they are eating. There are ways of getting your information without being intimidating and obviously this man does not geT it. I always order the same meal from everyone location i go which is the Bacon wrapped chucks cut so I know how it should taste. After waiting a long time for food it came out rare which i asked for medium but i can handle rare however it had absolutely no flavour to it and the bacon was still almost raw. The corn tasted like a dirty ashtray. I ate about half the meal and said something to the waitress and her response was yeah the corn never tastes good. She also was like well why did you eat so much of it. My response was well it is kind of edible and I don't feel like waiting another hour for food and she was like yeah your right the kitchen is pretty far behind. She went and got me a 5$ chuck coupon for my bill lol and felt that she was really accommodating us. This location is definitely going to give the business a bad name as it is pretty obvious that their management is terrible that their cook staff has zero care about the quality of food they are putting out. I am going to add that by the time we got home our party of 4 was feeling sick to our stomachs. Worst dining experience ever so it is definitely safe to say that location will never get any of our business again and we are part of a huge hockey community and will make sure thaT everyone we encounter stay clear from this location so they don't waste their. I've been to the Gateway Park restaurant on two separate occasions since their opening. The first time we went as a family of four the kitchen wait for over an hour for a common set of burger entrees. The service could have made up for the slow kitchen times by keeping drinks and apps flowing to the table but instead we had to grab the hostess a couple of times to place a search and rescue for our server. Our second time, on a Tuesday evening, with moderate volume the kitchen was very slow again. Our server tended to disappear for 20 minute intervals while we waited for a salad and again for another 20 minutes while we waited for a couple of drink refills. It just seems like the ownership is inexperienced and doesn't really seem to understand that you have to be on the floor ensuring that the guests are being properly attended. Our family likes the value that Chuck's offers but if you want timely service skip Chuck's and find a closeby Swiss Chalet. read more
