Very disappointed with this place. Rude and unprofessional. They kicked out my kids and wouldn't listen when I was sitting at the bar. The kids were 21 also. Chuck's is everything you would expect in a Wisconsin bar: on the water, great burgers, tons of booze, a pool table, a juke box, boat parking, and tons of booze. Did I mention that already? Probably one of the better Bloody Mary's I have ever had. My guess is a vast majority of their business is over the summer, which is a shame. Chuck's is an awesome place to be on a football Saturday in the fall. The leaves are falling and the bar is generally not crowded. Very disappointing. With the location and such a long time in business, you would think that they would care more. The bartenders are rude and surly. I went for a quick weekday lunch with my wife and it was not crowded. The entire process was a chore. The bartender did NOT want to be bothered , and would not come to the table. We had to go to the empty bar to order a salad ( ripped up head lettuce) and some nasty soup that the bartender wasn't sure what it was. The sandwich was on stale bread. The beer was cold and good, but I was hesitant to ask for a second. I suppose this is an example of being too comfortable with your job ( or ownership ). The experience was unfriendly and bothersome. The bartender needs to go. The Back bar helper was a bit friendlier and helpful , but seemed obligated to follow the leader. Next time , it's somewhere else. We might have better luck at McDonalds. We went to Chucks at lunchtime this Sat. It was busy but we were able to get a table. My husband ordered lunch from the walk up window & was delivered to our table in a reasonable - then things went horribly wrong. My kids chicken fingers tasted like fish, probably from oil used in a fish fry the night before. The onion rings were over cooked and dark brown. My friends' tuna sandwich was also strangely burned and had black flakes and chunks on it. It looked like it was dropped on the floor. It's too bad since Chucks is practically a Lake Geneva land mark. Sadly we won't be eating there anytime soon. read more

Recommended by a friend and this place did not disappoint! I had the Ahi tuna sandwich and it was delicious! My boyfriend had a burger and said it tasted so fresh. This place isn't fancy - you have to order at the bar and then they bring the food out to you. You want more to drink - you have to go back to the bar and wait in line. But if you want great food with a nice view of the lake here's the place to go. We went in February and there was a decent crowd. The place has to be packed in the summer. It's total dive bar but awesome place to hang out with your friends! Come on out and hang at Chuck's!! Food on the main is only served until 9 (last time I checked). Came here with a large group of adults and kids. Our tab was not tallied correctly and we were significantly overcharged! Also, they charge $4 per soft drink, and $4 per refill. Definitely would have been good to know before we ordered our refills! It's really a shame because we always visit Chuck's whenever we're in Fontana, but this time we all left feeling like we'd been swindled. read more

Where to begin... old school burger pub by day, roadhouse by night! Great pub food and good pours. On summer weekends the place really come alive with the weekend tourist crowd from Nearby Chicago. Took the drive up because we had heard they have a good burger. Drive was beautiful and there was plenty of paid parking. Very small joint with very little outside seating. When we entered we knew we were not staying. Dirty, small, loud and no seating. No one greeted us and we had no idea how to order a drink or food. Tried to get to the bar and have a beer but it was too crowded with what appeared to be locals and regulars. Went back outside thinking we could hang around and get a seat. Nope. Yellow jacket bees seemed to be a huge nuisance for the the deck area as well. Really disappointed because its located right across from lake and view is beautiful. The post-wedding brunch was held here on the second floor. There were meats, salmon and eggs for the omnivores. I enjoyed half a bagel, a few small pastries and excellent fresh fruit. Service was very good. read more

Great place if you are into a coffee shop turned bar atmosphere. The ambience can only be described as Carlton Banks from Fresh Prince has opended a hip bar and invited all his friends, some of them came in boats. I may be biased because I'm a local and have been going to Chucks since the late 70's but to me this is the best local bar I've ever been to. You have to understand that it's a BAR and not a fine restaurant and you have to know that you will not get "waited" on. You order your food at the bar or at the food window in the summer and when it's ready they have food runners bring it to you. It's perfect for an off the boat lunch or a quick dinner when you don't feel like cooking. The hot ham and cheese sandwich has been my go to for 40+ years. But what it's really the best for is a drink with family or friends. As a local I could go there alone (I don't tho really) and know I will always run into someone I know. Where in Chicago or any other big city can you get a beer for $3.50? The current group of bartenders work their asses off to serve everyone in a timely manner. Yes it does get crowded and yes you may have to wait but it's not because they are yacking with each other or other patrons. In my 20's I loved chucks on the summer weekends but now I'll leave that to the current 20 somethings as its crowed and loud. But give me chucks any Saturday or Sunday during the day or weeknight or summer weekday and I'm in heaven! read more
