There was no one line when I was there but I hear the line will wrap around the corner on a busy day! We order tangerine and black cherry on recommendation and both were really good. The tangerine was stronger with more tart, so if you like that you'd love it! I personally preferred the black cherry for its softer notes. All in all, a must try when in Philly area! read more

Really good. Really, really good. One of the best, possibly edging out Pop's for second place but too close to call at this point. Keep in mind I only speak of lemon water ice; I do not countenance the other flavors or products. Thicker than average, lemon had some nice tartness but a tad too sweet for my taste but,yea, this be some real nice wooter ice. Every time we go to Philly we try a new water ice place based on ratings. We have tried Jimmys, Pops, and Chucks. Chucks is better than ice outside of Philly, but inferior Jimmys or Pops in flavor and texture. No bits of fruit, either. My wife and kids concur. On the hunt this summer to find the best water ice in Philly! Did I find it here? Not so sure, but I'll tell you a little about it... I've driven past this little spot which is kind of out of the way, very far down the west end of Snyder Ave. I wondered why I had never heard of it, or actually been here before. Maybe the location? It's seems just like a lot of the other classic South Philly mom & pop wooder ice shops.... Window and cash only, and standing boldly in Italian flag colors. Somewhat simple offerings: -They have almost a dozen flavors, some with real fresh fruit pieces. Love this! - soft serve -of course that last one means they offer gelati -Soft pretzels which for most go hand in hand with water ice for some reason, but here they offer them topped a few different ways like pizza, cheese and pepperoni. -Nachos We wanted to order a kiddie size but they wouldn't do two flavors so went with a medium which at our last location, the same size cup was a small. Same cup and for $1 more here. Lemon was a popular choice with our crew and it was good choice! It was perfectly tart and a tad sweet and had lots of chunks of lemon in it!! Absolutely delish! The mango and cherry were also incredibly flavored, no fruit though! My strawberry lemonade was good too. Perhaps a tad to sweet for me, but good. All and all, we would head back to Chucks when we're in the area and think you should try it if you are too! *Knocking off a star for lack of a place to sit, the fact that I didn't get that warm South Philly welcome and feeling I'm used to getting at places such as these, and and for the fact I think they're just a hair pricier than the places we've encountered so far. read more

Best water ice, pizza pretzel and soft baked cookies in South Philly!!!! This place is a hidden gem unless your truly from South Philly. They offer a variety of flavored water ices. My favorite cookies are the chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin & sugar. I always have a hard time deciding if I want water ice and cookies or a pizza pretzel so I usually end up getting all 3 and saving the cookies for later. My family & I have visited this same location for over the past 5yrs and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Caesar & his wife, the owners, are very friendly. I hope they add outdoor seating so that I can eat my pizza pretzel right there instead of inside my car. It's hard to drive knowing I have a hot pizza pretzel waiting for me Prices are reasonable. I'm not sure if they take debit/credit cards I usually go with cash. This is a local water ice stand that has not changed much. It's been 17 years and the water ice and ice creams still taste the same. The best in South Philly. The prices are reasonable good. A must try would be the waffle ice cream! The staff there are super nice and fast. They already know what I want when I get there. It's fine... I mean, I appreciate the classicness of the place. And the signs are spot-on. But the menu is so damn... plain. Maybe I'm spoiled with a million water ices, this place only has like 8. My kids cone was big for a kid though, and the flavor was totally fine. The rest of the menu like pretzels and Otis Spunkmeyer cookies are just so damn plain --- EXCEPT getting pretzels "chopped up" - I have no clue what that means. I should have asked. I would come back here just to ask what was up with that chopped pretzel. read more
