    Over peppered egg drop soup
    Chris K.

This place is a sad excuse for a Chinese restaurant. Ordered from their lunch menu and was not impressed at all! I ordered the general chicken, but upon tasting it tastes more like a teriyaki chicken and at that, a very weak flavored one. The fried rice that came with the meal was simply white rice that had soy sauce added to it. I thought for a minute that the egg drop soup would redeem the meal, it looked great! However, it tasted like cheap chicken stock seasoned with a lot of pepper. I would've been happy with giving this meal a one star, but the sheer quantity of the food for $5.50 forced me to give two stars.

This place had a terrible smell, my dad said it was like dead mice. The air conditioning duct work is 4" septic pipe attached to the ceiling via J hooks. That not withstanding, the place is not very clean. There was yellow goo on the tea pot, the windows looked like something found in Fallout 4, the bathrooms were equivalently dirty. The funniest thing was when my dad asked for extra sweet/sour sauce for his entree, the waitress pointed at his plate saying "I put some right there, you have plenty!" And left! Hysterically funny look on my dads face. Reminded me of the Soup Nazi, "No SOUP for YOU! 2 Years!" Yet the wonton soup was very delicious with blanched broccoli, carrots, water chestnuts, and cabbage. Despite all the negative vibes, that wonton soup might make this place worth a try. Food poisoning is only temporary right?

We love Hunan!!…read more We've had so many solid experiences here and everything we've tried has been excellent!! We've gotten our whole family on to loving this spot! A few favorites: house crispy chicken, moo shu beef, egg rolls, wonton soup, and sweet and sour soup, amongst others!! :) After being seated you are greeted with a pot of yummy hot tea and "crispies" with dip, included with your meal! LOVE this perk!! Adding a soup to your entree is highly recommended, their soups are so, so good!! We love both the egg rolls and the crab meat Rangoons - it's hard to choose!! The egg rolls come out so fresh and hot you can't even eat it right away - love this so much!! We've had many of their entrees over the years and everything has been very good! They are consistent so you know what to expect and it keeps us coming back to try something new! This is a cozy little spot to get a solid Chinese meal, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff, you'll want to check it out for yourself!!

They have a separate menu that is authentic and traditional Chinese dishes so ask for that and they are happy to grab one for you. They have the usual, "American" Chinese food on their menu. We came for lunch and they have Luncheon specials. Entree, soup (egg drop, hot and sour, or wonton), fried rice and choice of crab rangoon or eggroll.

Here's the thing about buffets at smaller Chinese restaurants - they don't put out a lot of food,…read moreso that you get hot, fresh options. That is the case here. There were a variety of dishes, in both spicy and non-spicy. There were my favorite, crabmeat rangoons, although the first batch was cold. Luckily, the waiter came out and loaded more in, and most of the other entree dishes were refreshed while we were there. There are two kinds of soup, and a wide array of dessert options, if you're still hungry. Is it the best Chinese around? I'd head to Hunan Gardens, in Kalamazoo, for that. But for a buffet 20 minutes up the road, this is a good option, especially if you're looking for diverse eats. The hot tea was yummy. The service was unobtrusive and kind.

My favorite dish is the Moo Shu Pork and it's truly the bomb .com! 5. My husband and I really enjoy the fact that we can now get sushi takeout with it comes will everything you'll need to have the proper sushi experience - wasabi and all! 6. The location is convenient because Empire Wok is located in the Oaks Crossings Mall in between M-89 Cinema and Walmart. 7. Plenty of parking spaces available! 8. Great service - always polite and friendly. 9. Prices are reasonable and portions sizes are huge. The Needs Improving: 1. The last time I ordered the Moo Shu Pork it was lacking on the Pork. Not the first review here as I am an old fan of Hunan's going back decades now…read more The food, first and foremost, is always spot on great. Servers are friendly and informed and happy to help. Today we ordered delivery of Sweet and Sour Chicken, Stir-fry veggies with fried rice, peanut saused wontons, wanton soup, and rangoons. Everything was delicious! The delivery was up to snuff and had our meal at the door a few minutes early and left without a tip? Owe you one!! Good service.

The ambiance is great! It's nice to sit down to a meal at a table !…read more I ordered Golden chicken(stirfry chicken in a lemon sauce with strawberries apples oranges) Rice was served with it, but it wasn't sticky rice. How disappointing! The lemon sauce I think the chef forgot the lemon. My husband had a special which was a soup that began with T. It didn't look very appetizing and there wasn't a lot of taste to it. It looked like there were Ramen noodles out of the package like the kind you get for a dollar He was very disappointed. Three times the busser asked if she could take my plate. True it was to the side of my dinner plate so I serve myself. She didn't know that when you finish a meal you put your silverware so it points to the center of the plate. She interrupted our conversation. She was young and experienced. The server came and asked us if we liked the taste of the food? Two or three times. It was disappointing not to have a server that we always have. I understand there's been a change in staff and the chef has started his own restaurant. I think we'll have to go there. The chef they have I think took food out of a can and dumped it into the walk and called it stir fried. It was very disappointing. We weren't asked if we wanted dessert nor at the beginning soup or a salad. We will have to find a different go to restaurant. This cost $33 for dinner with tea. I'm sorry to be so negative!
