We just moved to Palm Desert ten days ago, and as foodies, one of our first goals is to explore a lot of local establishments. As we are still unpacking, we were in a position to order brunch and we had it delivered. Chula's beautiful and unique menu impressed us with its fresh foods and emphasis not only on creativity but on numerous choices. I ordered the pulled pork torta which was out of this world. It disappeared before a photo could be taken. Fresh red peppers, avocado, pickled cabbage, arugula, wonderful sauce and delicious pork on a delightful bun was accompanied by the most photogenic green pepper slices. The taco salad and vegan bowl explode with the color of fresh vegetables. My new dream is to go in person for the other delights!! read more

Awesome, awesome, awesome place to eat. It is now our go-to restaurant for an eclectic Mexican brunch. Their Roja sauce is a bit salty, but has such great flavor! It is so good on the chilaquiles, enchiladas and tamales. The Verde sauce is also quite good. I had the pork enchiladas on our last visit and they were delicious. Want something delightful but more healthful and artisanally crafted? Go round back to Chula. But you won't miss out on the carbs--Chula does some fine baked goods, too. The staff was very accommodating as we arrived 5 minutes before the kitchen was closing but they still let us come in and order some food. It was super nice of them! I really appreciated the idea of making clear on the boards displayed throughout the restaurant, that they use locally sourced food and make the dishes from scratch. Six stars! The menu offers many dishes and anyone can find something to eat here. Here is what we ordered: 1. Starter black bean and corn dip - black beans, roasted white corn, cucumber, green onion, pico de gallo, roasted red pepper, lime crema, queso fresco. The house made chips were the best chips I have had in a long time! Unfortunately we couldn't buy some to go as they already closed the kitchen. We will buy the chips next time for sure! 2. Mains A. Chúla Farm Bowl - sweet potato hash, house-made turkey chorizo, balsamic glaze, vinaigrette farm greens, tomato, avocado, farm egg, micro-greens B. I would highly recommend the tres leches iced latte, it was heavenly! Super sweet but hit the spot. I opted for the red chilaquiles and they were divine. I've had a lot of chilaquiles in my day and theirs are definitely in my top 3! The menu is pretty decent with a lot of different items to meet everyone's needs, so bring even your pickiest of eaters and I'm sure they'll be happy. However, based on the food & the service, you wouldn't think a Latina had anything to do with it (coming from a fellow Latina). Firstly, we had our orders taken by a condescending older woman. She was rude when we asked her about dairy alternatives for lattes and when we asked her if there were disposable napkins we could have. In addition, she rarely checked on us but did check on other customers. I ordered a tres leches latte & honestly not that good. It tastes like just a standard latte; nothing special. Then, we got our food & wow, it was not great at all. I ordered the omelette & the egg was pretty dry. The presentation also left much to be desired. My friends ordered the huevos rancheros & the chilaquiles. They both said their sauces were sweet when they should be spicy. None of us finished our food. Party of 3 on a beautiful Saturday morning around 11, wait was around 20 mins. The place was pretty packed- patio and inside. Server was super prompt and very helpful with suggestions. Best Food! My friend and I had breakfast here the second weekend working Coachella and made sure we came back the work weekend of Stagecoach! Fresh amazing food with the most exquisite flavors. The coffees/lattes are refreshing and delicious. The wait is nothing compared to the place around the corner. We went around 9:30/10 am and beat the rush that came in about 11ish, however with the indoor and outdoor seating , waiting time wasn't too bad. Starting off, loved all of coffees and mimosas. The golden milk latte was a must get. Also, the oat milk was really tasty. We had a party of 17 and had a reservation and got in right away. The person who made the reservation had kind of a bad experience with making the reservation. They were so rude when she called to confirm that they called back a few days later to apologize. Which honestly, we appreciated, but then they kept reminding her that we only were allowed to stay for 2 hours. The food was fast and honestly really good. The service was a little weird.
