My mom and I came here one night and were glad we went! The food is tasty (we were happy about that since it is on the slightly pricer side). The service is excellent and for a slower night we felt we could take our time a bit more. I'm sober and vegetarian, I'm glad they have fun drinks for myself and can make the veggie fajitas without a tequila marinade! read more

This is a restaurant I've been wanting to try but every time I go there is always a wait, so we were excited to finally try it. We went in when they opened, so there was no wait at all. It is a beautiful decorated restaurant with an outside patio and the service is wonderful, very friendly. They deserve five stars. ...BUT... THE FOOD... TERRIBLE!! I am sorry I do not know who they're catering to but as a Hispanic, this is just a NO. They either need a new chef and seriously need to expand their menu and change up the entire thing. Respectfully. For drinks we ordered chavelas. Small, and I could've made a better one at home. Food: They bring out a warm salsa and chips. The salsa tastes like tomato soup. I ordered the Baja fish tacos. Look at my pictures. It was a tilapia flaked on a cold tortilla with an over abundance of lettuce. Then they bring out a supposedly spicy green salsa absolutely not. I had to ask for Tapatio. My husband ordered the steak tacos. Which tasted like yesterday's rewarmed meat. On the plate was a cup of spicy mayo? Pico de gallo and a great guac, (I will give them that). And over salted beans. Presentation was horrible, and the food was just a waste of $65. I don't think I've ever had such BAD Mexican food, this is the one time that I need to tell people if you want real authentic Mexican food PLEASE go elsewhere and Guillermos please switch up the menu and cater to people with taste buds. If you are looking for Authentic Mexican food come here. salsas were amazing they had all kinds from non-spicy to extreme spice so delicious. Their Carne Asada was prime meat the best. The service here is top notch. Such great and attentive staff and they were so kind to my little one while visiting. Menu is vast with all of your favorite Mexican dishes and drink. Margaritas were large and strong. I got the enchiladas which were tasty, the portion felt a little small to me but I ate through 3 baskets of chips and salsa and had no complaints. Do not eat here. My wife ordered enchiladas and, after her order was botched twice, these photos show the catastrophe we were served and charged $16 for. Unseasoned, boiled-looking chicken slopped into soggy, minitaure tortillas that looked like they came from a microwave. Beyond disgusting. When we called to report the issue, the restaurant's manager whined that we had hurt his feelings and tried to blame the hostess. I would not recommend this place. We walked in and sat down at the bar. I asked for a mezcal or tequila list and was informed they did not have one. I then asked for my favorite mezcal, but they did not have that either. Instead, they showed us two mezcal bottles, and I decided to order one shot for myself and one for my dear friend. When I asked for the check, after five minutes of background deliberation, they gave me an $80 bill for two shots of 'Mezcales de Leyenda.' This is by no means a bottle that warrants $40 a shot. When I informed the server, he replied, 'We checked the price because we did not know how much it cost, but that's the price.' We were not informed of the cost prior to ordering, nor were we given a gentle reminder about the premium pricing. I am definitely not coming back to this dishonest establishment. read more

Ugh! We've tried this place 3x. First time was ok not great but given past reviews, we gave it another shot. Second time, I ordered one of their recommended specialties. It was gross. I figured my fault for not ordering the traditional recipes. Third time (and last time), we were a group of 6. Horrible service for starters. Our server was abrupt and rude. He walked off in the middle of questions and ordering several times. We ended up with 3 guacamoles when we only ordered one. The guacamole size is so small for the price - we assumed he split it up for us as we were at a very oversized table. Not the case - charged for 3 of the blandest guacamole I've ever had. Not one of us was happy with our meal. I had the chicken mole - it was unbearably sweet and the chicken could not have been any more dry. The chips and salsa were fantastic. Warm and tasty. The margaritas (we each got a different kind) were fine but not as good as a couple other places in the CV. Our happy hour food was fine too, but I would not get mine again. I also would not eat in the bar again. The ambiance is just meh. What went well? Everything!! Great food, great service, and even though we came for a late lunch the staff was super attentive. Awesome chips, salsa, guacamole, Skinny Margaritas ...yeah!! My wife had a chicken quesadilla she raved about and my carne asada sopas were just perfect. Inviting outdoor area makes for a nice spot to enjoy a very tasty meal. Today we sat on the patio with puppy for lunch. Our waiter, William, was so good and very nice too. It was our first time here . It's located on El Paseo but down the street from all the busy shops so sitting on the patio was a lot quieter and much more quaint here in Palm Desert. Mom said the chips were the best she ever had, hot and freshly made. It thought the carnitas on top of my toco salad were the best I ever had. Table for two people was small, not much room for plates drinks and salsa etc. Worst was we had a reservation at 5:30 and were out of there at 6:30. It was our anniversary so expected to celebrate a little longer. We ordered drinks and the salsa, guacamole and chips. Before we were finished with that they brought our salad and right away our entire? There was no room for all those plates? We finished our salad and no one took the empty plates? This is a tough rating to give, because the food was really good. I just did not have the best experience there. The carnitas was cooked and seasoned to perfection. But for $29 I think they can give you a little more than a small scoop of beans and spoonful of guacamole. The tortillas were great. It was very busy and the service was slow because of the crowd. The guacamole was outstanding but the queso was not what I expected. It was less of a dip and more of a plate of melted cheese. We were a party of 6 many had been there before, it was my first time. I ordered the chili relleno, it was a very nice plate with lots of vegetables and rice, but surprisingly the pepper was hotter than at other establishments. Cute place! Service was attentive and friendly. Prices are average-high. Guacamole is very good but $12.25/bowl. I guess the high price of avocados is to blame. He had shrimp fajitas and thought they were excellent. I had camarones calafia, which were very good. The dish came with 5 large shrimp, a lovely white rice, and grilled cactus slaw. The sauce on my shrimp was chipotle, sour cream, and mushrooms. The mushrooms were fresh and tasty but I'm not a huge chipotle fan and this was heavy on the chipotle. I asked for and received a lighter sauce, which was good and diluted the chipotle taste sufficiently for me. I appreciated the server bringing that second sauce. Hubby ordered the flan desert. The sauce was terrific but hubby prefers a lighter, fluffier flan, whereas this one was tasty but thick. read more

Dinner with friends. Great atmosphere. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Delicious meals, especially the baby back ribs. What made the evening memorable was this: Our friend's earring was loose, and fell down between the bench seat and the wall. We tried to reach it, but could not. Our server was very helpful, too. I tried the vegetarian fajitas for the first time and they were so good! I loved the marinade. The chips and guac are delish- the guac is always so fresh. Food is always great at Guillermo's, and service is great and friendly. Their Carnitas Michoacán is the best I e had anywhere! The only thing I noticed in the most recent visit was the portion of carnitas was very small. Much less than previous visits. I hope this was a one time aberration and this is not their new portion sizing. Very disappointing for a fish that costs $28.00. Again great food and great service. I'd hate it to be ruined by overly reduced portions. Menu could also use some more traditional combos etc. read more

We are on vacation Palm Springs and went to the restaurant for dinner on Sunday. The restaurant has a nice ambience and the service was good. The food was "okay". Here is what we ordered: - Chips and salsa: this came with the table. The chips were good but the salsa was warm salsa and it tasted like tomato soup (we warned) - Chicken Burrito with the "red sauce and cheese" topping: This was good but not very spicy. It was bland and I had to request spicy habanero s sauce which was spicy - Kids bean and cheese burrito with fries: my son liked this a lot and it was tasty for adult if you want to try it - Carne asana tacos (prime rib): my older son liked this but the bean and cheese with this was very bland - Combination fajitas: this looked very tasty and the presentation was great. All in all a good spot to go with kids and large parties. read more

Wanted Mexican food and found this place and decided to give it a try given the 4+ star review. Walked in and the place had several open table options. We requested a booth (there were four available at the time) and were immediately told no we could not sit there because they are for regulars. I asked if they were booked via reservation and was told not but could not sit there it was only for regulars..... Ordered shrimp ceviche, it was basically large chopped pico de gallo with tiny pierces of shrimp in it. I would say there was a maximum of 4 shrimp cut up into the ceviche, you definitely did not get shrimp in every bite. The ceviche was $17 and a complete waste of money. Ordered carne asada, it had some grill marks (did not taste grilled). It was basically a very thin piece of skirt steak with some garlic salt on it. Again the portion and the quality did not match the cost. I have no problem spending $$$ for good food, but this place was not it! I think they get a lot of palm desert regulars which I am guessing is where to good ratings come from but I will not be returning or recommending. read more
