This golf course has an outer trail around it in a lot of people utilize it for exercise. After we had to leave Sweetwater regional Park Trail because it closed we hopped over here to complete our hiking and trail walking exercises. The location is really nice because there are a lot of people around and it's pretty secure as it is away from the traffic in the street. You have to be careful because there is horse poop sometimes frequently on the trail pathways. Sometimes you also will find that people don't pick up after their dogs and so just be careful to not step in any dog poop as well. They really have done a great job with maintaining this trail around the golf course. The path goes from behind the CV Bonita Branch library all the way around and behind Jack-in-the-Box and Better Buzz Coffee. Continuing on, there is also a new bridge section that has been put up within the last 5 years, which is a nice transition over the small pond that exists near the end of the course. As you continue around past the bridge, you approach the back of some homes and backyards, and then the Rohr Park. The trail actually goes all the way through the park and back to the horse corrals, then back around Central Avenue. Once you turn from Central back to Bonita Road, you're on the home stretch. This is a 3 mile walk when you take one trip around this course trail. It is refreshing and nice and there are a lot of people that walk it so make sure that you get a chance to enjoy it. read more

The golf course is starting to get in a little better shape. What I really like is the new restaurant. We tried the rolled tacos, which were amazing. They are doing a promo right now where you get three dollars off any food items if you show your golf course receipt. We definitely plan to try many of the other items based on how good those tacos were. I hope the course continues to improve. read more

One if the best deals during the week After 10 am a round of golf with cart and lunch for $45.00. The course is in ok shape but threes is a lot of dirt in the fairways. The current conditions at this course do not justify the $140 green fee. The fairways are currently closer to dirt than grass, the bunkers lack sand, and the greens are significantly poorly maintained. ​The experience was further hindered by a total lack of course management. Our round took six hours due to a lack of a Marshall to monitor pace of play or address groups practicing on the course. Until the maintenance and player supervision are addressed, I cannot recommend this course for the price point. read more

I come here often for a cheap round to work on my swing. Don't expect good fairways. There are a few holes with just dirt on the fairways, but the majority are very patchy. We hosted my daughter's baby shower at the Chula Vista golf course in their smaller banquet room. I had approximately 60 guests. It was absolutely perfect. Our servers were very attentive and on top it. Our manager, Bree, was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond. Our champagne bar was absolutely beautiful and had delicious fresh fruit. There are no fairways on this course you will always land on sand or rock. The pace of play is not enforced it took 2 1/2 hours for 9 holes. There was groups of 6 and 8 playing incredibly slow. The course is horribly maintained. At least I got a refund for half my money. You couldn't pay me to play on this course read more

Played for 5 hours and made it to hole 14 before we called it quits. The backup was unreal, 3 groups waiting to tee off on every hole. If they just hired a marshal half of the problems would disappear. A better use of my 45 dollars would have been wiping my ass and flushing it down the toilet. I can't believe they charge what they charge here. Think of the person in this world you hate the most, yeah I wouldn't even recommend it to them. The GM is condescending to criticism and invites everyone who complains for a free round. We had my father in laws Celebration of Life in the event center on Sun. From start to finish Rebecca was amazing and awesome to work with. We went with the taco bar for the food. Food was really good. Rebecca's team made sure everything went smooth and everyone was super nice and ready to help whenever we needed it. This place is in pretty horrible shape. You can't even get to hole number 3. They dont even post signs on detour routes etc. we got there on this past federal holiday which was on Monday and they charged a higher rate of $57. I couldn't believe it, so after trying to complete the first 9 we decided to leave and not even attempt the back 9. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Had a catered dinner last night. I am an excellent cook and am usually disappointed with these meals. This is the first time I was absolutely delighted with my meal. Hot, fresh and tasty. Had cod with a spicy sauce, exquisite rice pilaf with Indian spices and fresh steamed vegetables. The other dinner choice was roasted pork with a chutney sauce. Bree was a wonderful host. The food and service were stellar. I never thought of going to the golf course for a meal, but am hoping to be back soon. read more

I love that this golf course is right near the house and that if you are a resident in the Chula Vista area you get a discount. The only issue I have with the course is that the maintenance of the course has always been a little unpreserved. It still has its positivities but lacks in keeping up with the courses over all beauty. Parking is easy and has a vast amount of it. There is also a track that wraps all around the course, so you will see several people walking, jogging, and running (especially people horseback riding). The price is good and there is a driving range so you can practice on your swing before you head out to the course, and also there's a putting green so that you can get a feel of the courses greens. You can rent golf carts, bag carts (for walking), and also clubs. There is a small pro shop to buy accessories and apparel, and the employees are nice and are always willing to help. Other than that it's a good place to get away from home and play a round of golf. read more

I've never been to a course so terribly maintained. One of fairways on a hole was 75% dirt. They charged me for a cancelled tee time and I had to follow up twice to make sure I got my refund. We left a headcover on the course, emailed them to confirm it was there and that we'd pick it up, and then they didn't have it when we went to pick it up. They sell customers' headcovers that are left on the course so I'm sure they made some money off the one we lost there. They close their pro shop early so don't trust their posted hours. They either don't call you back or answer but leave you on hold until you hang up. I would never come back to this course. Poorly maintained and bad management. read more

Pretty random, but I saw an ad for Easter Brunch and decided to try it out. The event was well organized and the staff was very nice. The brunch was buffet style and the Easter bunny was around to take pictures with the kids. It wasn't super fancy, felt like country club vibes. But, honestly it's my type of event. Mimosas, good food and Easter egg hunt for my kids. We all had a great time. I didn't even know there was a golf course here. Next time I'll be back for a round of golf! read more

Update 6//16/23: the course has been in terrible shape now for months. Like minimal effort is put in to keep it in good shape. It's in terrible shape. Just look at hole #3: there is no fairway grass, only a tee box and a green! You will have to bring own fairway mat for bare areas. In general, the greens are just so-so now. I feel like they are intentionally making course unplayable so they can sell it to condo developers. read more

My family and I had a Sunday brunch here and it was AMAZING. As soon as we entered we were welcomed with your choice of bottomless mimosas or a Bloody Mary (with tons of fun options for toppings.) There was a huge salad bar, omelette station, dessert table, and tons of breakfast/lunch options. The chilequilles are the BEST I have ever had.. so good! Worst golf course in San Diego county, it's under new management and didn't improve anything at all. Fairways are full of dirst spots, green are full of weeds, bridges are falling, the people who work there have the shittiest attitude. My tee time was 3:45 checked in at 3:15, I was waiting for my tee time and 4 high school groups started palying, I went to the pro shop asked if I could start the back 9 he said no just jump to hole 2 or 3. Long story short me playing single joined a group of 2 and we got into an altercation with 4 groups because we cut infront of them when we were told by the proshop to cut everybody was angry it was all the proshops fault. read more

For as much business as Chula Vista golf course does they are always ill prepared regarding range balls. Very frustrating when you want to hit balls before your round or just hit balls and they are out of range balls. The teaching professionals at the course are always stocked. Also, grass is green during the rainy season but as soon as it heats up they allow the grass in the fairway to die. read more

Very disappointed with the experience I had with this course, the actual course was very fun and nice to play with buddies expect when you are 19 years old and the Marshall think that you are holding the pace of play back when we are fully waiting for the ladies ahead of us. Very disappointing when you look forward to this all week. So do not expect to have a fun time at this course with the Marshall if you do not look over 30. Every few years I get the not-so-bright idea to give Chula Vista Golf Course a try, and every few years I vow that I won't be doing that again anytime soon. This is muni golf at its muni-est, at least in San Diegan terms. With such a wealth of affordable, interesting, and reasonably well-conditioned golf options, there aren't many reasons for a local golfer to play Chula Vista. For one, it is definitely walkable, as the largest hills are the sides of its sand traps. For two... um... I guess it makes you appreciate most every other course in San Diego. With some investment and TLC, Chula Vista could actually be a decent muni track, but that effort has never been put into it. Instead, we are left with a really tired, worn down course, with pitifully slow, bumpy greens, substantial areas of dirt, overgrown hazards, and uneven conditions everywhere else. Course conditions aside, the mid-century layout could be somewhat rescued with modest improvements, but instead is a below-average municipal track that doesn't well utilize it's natural nor constructed hazards. In short, there are better rounds of golf to be had elsewhere. read more

If you want to play a game of 18 on a nice course don't come here!!! This course was poorly ran and poorly maintained. Our team time was for 10:30 and we didn't T off till 11. It took us over two hours to get to hole 6. Most of the fairways are straight dirt. The cost of this course is a ridiculous ask considering the management and conditions. We just had our 45th High School Reunion here over Labor Day weekend. It was great!! In spite of being shut down for over the past 18 months and not knowing for sure up until a few days just before the event due to the Pandemic we persevered and hopefully we created a great party for our class. Thank you to the staff and Rebecca Del Toro (our coordinator) at the Chula Vista Golf Course for allowing us to have this wonderful party!! Monday - January 16 2023 - my credit card was charged $117 with a transaction date from Saturday, 1/14 for tee time that was booked from Chula Vista golf course website. Tee time for Saturday, 1/14 was cancelled on Thursday, 1/12 via calling to cancel with cvgc proshop. First call to general manager via the advice of proshop - 1/16: Got the voicemail. I left a message for callback with callback info. 1/18 - General manager voicemail. So I call the proshop. Proshop employee tells me I am "reaching" when I am communicating the issue. Tells me to come down to proshop to handle it. Question - how can you charge my card when I am not there but can't refund me unless I am? Monday 1/23 - General manager Voicemail. So I call the events manager. She takes down my information and card number. Tells me GM is off. She assures me I'll Get a call back. She understands the urgency so I'd assumed I'd get a call-back asap. Question - if you you are off or are going to take off an extensive amount of time, why not update you vmail? 1/30 I let a week go by... I'll call them again today and see if this story needs updating. read more

I'd have another wedding just to celebrate here again! My husband had made the last minute decision to have our reception at a venue. Due to covid we had to reschedule our wedding 2 others times so it was literally a week before the wedding date when I contacted Rebecca and If I could give them a 10 star rating I would for sure! Rebecca was so incredibly amazing. She listened to every little thing down to the T and everything from the set up to the food was absolutely perfect! I literally woke up the next day wanting to eat some more of the chicken amd the mashed potatoes! The food and beverage director was incredible and even invited myself and my husband back for breakfast when the restaurant opens up. The over all experience was so great and I would definitely book here again for a future event. There is nothing I would have done or asked for that could have been different. This was the perfect place for the Celebration of Life for my son. My son had grown up in Bonita and spent countless hours around the golf course, so it was so fitting to honor and remember and celebrate him here. Rebecca, the Event Director, was fantastic from the first moment I contacted her. She was so understanding and genuinely sympathetic. I toured the inside rooms and as our guest list grew, we would have exceeded even the largest room. She brilliantly suggested doing it outside on the course and showed me the area and explained the details of accommodating us. Rebecca helped me plan for all the particulars from the food, to the table size and placement and linens. When rain was forecasted, she quickly secured canopies for us. (But thank God it didn't actually rain!) Rebecca was even available to meet with me and our DJ to discuss his set up for music and outdoor screen! She allowed us to drop off decorations and treats before the service and kept them safe until it was time. The food was actually very good! It was well seasoned and the servers were very professional. Everyone enjoyed it. For such a sad and somber occasion, our event really turned out to be a wonderful celebration that I will always remember. And it even turned out that I was proposed to! And I said yes! Tears of immense sadness and tears of joy! I know my son was very happy, too. And that is more than I could have asked for. I will definitely consider this for another event. read more
