Dr. Poggio and everyone here has taken their time to make sure I feel the most comfortable and understand the process of having trays on. From financing to the actual putting on of the invisalign trays, the process has been amazing. The staff are incredible and they make you feel like you're a friend in the neighborhood. I love it here and my husband also has come here before as well and has had nothing but amazing things to say. I decided to get Invisalign so I started the process of searching online for the best orthodontics in South San Diego. I narrowed my choices to 3 orthodontics. Meeting with Dr. Poggio and her staff completely won me over without a doubt. They were exceptional. They explained the whole process, used state of the art equipment and were beyond friendly. I do not recommend this place for Invisalign. It's overly priced. Price can be around 6,000 dllrs even if it's not a complicated case. Most of the consultations is with the office manager and not the actual orthodontist and you're paying big bucks. They have 2 orthodontist and both can see and treat you which is confusing. I would prefer only one. The customer service also doesn't feel real. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Poggio's for ten years. I grew up in this office! I first went in for a consultation with my parents when I was 8 years old, and my two-phase treatment started from there. I had an overbite and overcrowding. Dr. Poggio and her team corrected those issues and gave me and smile that I can't stop showing off!! I'm an adult with braces but probably am the biggest baby when it comes to the braces cutting or needing adjustment. I required many adjustments as my teeth moved at the very beginning and not once did I feel silly for being such a baby. The staff remembers all of the patient's names and has even stayed late to wait for me when I was stuck in traffic. I love my dentist but the intern is very rude, took my picture said I should've choose another day was literally half asleep after a hard day at school. The dentist put his utilities in my mouth literally gobbled that up with my drool (was literally asleep). Then days later I come back for a check up but then I don't have my retainers because I'm in a rush to study for my ap unit test tomorrow. They keep me there and retrain me like a dog to call my father who is already very very far away. They make me come back scold me once again. By the time I've come back I've have been there for 4 hours and already wasted enough time with them. I know I'm a teenager but as a customer too the least you can do is watch your mouth and handle your services better. I don't understand why it's such a big deal it's literally my body my choice. Anyways, other than that the people here I love that I've known since I was little, I love goodie bags as well, y'all should stock up on that. The orthodontist and front desk manager is absolutely super nice if I could id give you 10 stars. But that intern deserves a 1. So that one star goes out of my intern if I could I would give you a 0.5 star actually. I'm not a complete child and sometimes your opinion is not needed around the customer. I forgot to add... We definitely don't make things easy on the staff. My wife's employer probably has the most difficult dental/medical/vision reimbursement process ever. The City of SD makes us jump through the most hoops just to get our dental reimbursement. Mary Beth, Debbie, & Rita are so understanding, they do whatever is needed to make things as easy for us to satisfy our employer's insurance reimbursement requests. Dr. Val Poggio and her staff are such wonderful people to be around with it almost feels like being part of a family!! They do take very good care of their patients (my eldest daughter and youngest son are both patients) ensuring their comfort and ease. They are very cooperative and willing to work with your schedule, even with the occasional "forgotten" appointment (some dentist/doctors charge for "no-shows"!). And the fact that they seems to know all our names by heart (you walk in and they are greeting you by name!) is an added personal touch. She shows her appreciation for her patients (she even rented a theater recently so her patients can watch the latest Harry Potter movie!) but we have to tell her that we truly appreciate her and her staff. Dr Poggio and her staff are patient, attentive, and professional. Both my daughters have gotten their expanders here and my oldest will start braces with Dr. Poggio next. Dr. Poggio and her staff are exemplary. We have three children who are in various stages of the orthodontic process. They consistently go the extra mile to accommodate each of their individual needs. Our oldest son had his braces removed over a year ago with a resulting perfect smile; however, on follow up exams, Dr. Poggio noticed that he was experiencing abnormal growth in his TMJ which required referrals to a TMJ specialist and oral surgeon for jaw surgery. The staff has been tremendously responsive and timely in coordinating all the necessary pieces to make this happen. They are always pleasant, friendly, and very professional.
