Amazing service and simple food remixed. I've passed by this place a few times because I can never notice where to enter while the traffic is normally south Florida crazy. I finally crawl in during a random ghost time of no traffic. No one in site the whole time I was there. I walk in and I'm just taken in by the bright and culturefulness (?word) of everything. Server spoke no English - I know enough to order. I take a seat and wait. While I wait I'm snapping everything and responding to friends that were wondering if I left the county. It wasn't until my phone alerted me to "leave now" for work to arrive on time, that I noticed how long I was waiting. I had been waiting over thirty minutes! All I ordered was a Strawberries and Cream milkshake and French fries. So yeah I was late to work so I ate while I traveled in heavy traffic. My fries aren't what I ordered and looked very thrown together. The fries were not even thoroughly cooked. I was disappointedly shocked and amazed at the milkshake. It was a cup full of whip cream and strawberries and sweetened condense milk as decoration. I see why this place wasn't busy anymore.

Drop dead delicious. 10/10 recommend. A mix of deliciously fresh fruit and candies! What a lovely treat!

Pretty terrible and disappointing, food was premade and reheated, beans super salty. Even the desserts were lacking.

The interior decor may have changed but my opinion of this place hasn't. The decor is tex-mex cute and colorful. The service was friendly but absolutely clueless. The food was reasonably priced for portion size but the quality was really low. We enjoyed the complimentary basket of fried flour tortilla chips and the salsa was basic but okay. The Carne Asada Nacho platter was disappointing in the ingredients. It was supposed to have guacamole on it but it was more of an avocado cream and very liquidy. The asada meat was seasoned well but it was chewy in a bad way. The chicken burrito was heavy but full of too much rice and it was lacking seasoning. The Tamale Platter was nice and freshly made. The rice and beans on the side was not housemade but from a can. I think the new owners are trying to cut too many corners and will not get repeat customers. There was just nothing special about anything at this place and even their only hot sauce that can be added for some heat to the meal is a watered down green tomatillo mild sauce or a red pepper mild sauce which both are served in a cold squirt bottle unless you pay almost $2 for a small roasted jalapeño. I will pass on a return visit and look for new authentic Mexican fare.

The interior has gotten a lot nicer. The walls and seating are all creatively painted with vibrant murals and decor scattered throughout. I recall it being more shack-like in the past. This location has it's old time Florida charm. I love the updates. This was my first time exploring the meats and fish at Lupita's. I went with a carne asada/steak sope and a fish taco. My bestie went with a carne asada chimichanga, chicken taco, and a horchata. They started us out with homemade chips and salsa. The shell to the carne asada sope was crunchy and homemade, flavorfully topped with a medley of freshness -- pico de gallo, lettuce, salsa, and avocado. I tried a bit of my friend's horchata and that is absolutely delish. Lupita's is still legend of SoFlo Mexican spots to check out. Cheers!

We ordered a few cocktails, the El Segundo Classico, a classic margarita, and the Oaxaca Peach Old Fashioned made of blanco tequila and a bit of mezcal, very refreshing to start off with. Our servers recommended a few different menu items. The Pimento Cheese Elote Dip small plate was delicious. We then moved on to the tacos - the Brisket Burnt Ends, the Chicharron Ceviche, and the Cali Fish (my favorite). The Cali Fish was nicely fried and just a bit of heat and slightly sweet slaw. Also tried the Birria Tacos and the Burrito, both great. We loved sitting outside in front of the restaurant. There are few artist studios across the parking lot. I thought El Segundo was a solid 4.5/5.

El Segundo has ample indoor and outdoor seating. Though slammed, I sat at the bar and met Connor. His beer "is so cold, your teeth will hurt." That statement is a sign on Isla Majure. The menu is awesome. Prices are great. It was tough to finish my blackened chicken burrito! Deliciosa!!! But what makes this place vibe is the young staff. They rock! And they got each other's 6. I witnessed this as Sam was pouring one of their famous margaritas. As she was close to empty with her container, Connor does a stealthy maneuver and slips in another container for her. Sam did not miss a beat because of Connor. Everyone and I mean everyone connects. It is worth your time. Enjoy the local art too.
