This market located in North Beach is very unique and wonderful. You will find everything you need to prepare your favorite Asian dish. The store is small but the selections and variety is very wide. They also have many products like oils, rice, egg noodles, dumplings, veggies and much more... So happy to find items including my favorite teas; green tea, matcha, jasmine and ginger and also matcha-green tea chocolate. I found some other very interesting seasonings from all over Asia and very lovely spoons and dinner plates. I didn't know I had Asian markets so close to my area but I'm so excited to discover a nice market like this one with such a friendly service. The person who assisted us was genuinely the nicest person I have ever meet in a market. He was so friendly and helped us find all the things we needed. A one stop for everything Asian!! Groceries, dry goods, sauces, spices, noodles, snacks , condiments, teas, difficult to find items, cooking utensils, even plates, cups, woks, wok tools, just about everything else that you can think of!! And when I say everything Asian, I mean it! Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, even some Filipino too! Yes, I agree with some of the other reviews, that you need to be diligent and check the expiration dates of the things that you purchase. But I do that at most every place that I shop for perishable items and find many expired products everywhere, not just here. With such a wide range of products that is to be expected and not such a huge deal, especially if you are checking the items before buying anything. No surprises, right? Exploring the many small aisles of this unique place, brings me back to a simpler time. My mom and dad used to take me to small grocery stores when I was a little kid and this place brings me back to those wonderful places where I have such fond memories. Little places like these are a treasure to find and may soon be gone. So please check out this great and amazing place where around every corner you can find treasures that will surely surprise and amaze you! Now for the service......I whole heartedly disagree with many reviews saying that the service was not up to par. On the contrary, I've never had an experience with bad service, from either the father or the son. They have a great variety of products from all over South and Southeast Asia - from frozen and canned food, to all sorts of sauces, curries, spices and seasonings; sweets and snacks; teas and herbs; rice and noodles, noodles and MORE noodles!! If you like Asian food or to experiment in the kitchen, this place is for you! The aisles are crammed and not organized very well at all, but the store isn't huge, so it's not a big deal to traverse all of the aisles to find exactly what you need. They didn't have a big selection of fresh vegetables - mostly greens and eggplant, but I found plenty of selection of canned, dried and frozen produce. Check the expiration dates - as Thien H. mentioned, a lot of products were past their "best by" dates. Finally, the younger guy behind the counter was really nice and friendly! read more

Check the expiration date on products at Chung Hing. We bought a variety of ramen to try and the very first one was so rancid. It had a little chili oil packet, so that's probably what went bad. The smell was overwhelmingly gross. Definitely threw it out. Only after making the ramen did I check for an expiration date. There used to be a printed date, but the ink was mostly rubbed off. The second ramen seems okay. Now that I think about it, the rice vermicelli (clear package with red) was the worst vermicelli I've ever bought. The noodles were unevenly sized. Some were normal, but there were some super thick ones that came out hard after boiling. I had to reboil the noodles and pick out the noodles that stuck together or were too thick. Chung Hing also didn't have any Thai basil in stock. The store is disorganized, doesn't seem very clean, but does have a variety of products. Sadly, there are slim pickings when it comes to good Asian grocery stores in South Florida. read more

I remember coming to this place a long time ago, but haven't been in years when other newer, cleaner and bigger Asian stores pop up. However, recently a search for a clay pot i couldn't find in the other stores in the neighborhood (and don't want to drive up to Broward) brought me back. I was first surprised by the size of this place. It's definitely bigger than I remember. And as the shelves are so jam packed, the array of items they sell is amazing. They even have a few plastic containers of hardware items! And ginseng and other Chinese herbs that costs hundreds of dollars near the register. Honestly, product wise, it definitely has the best selection in Miami. BUT... as others say, if you buy food, check the expiration date!! I found some Pocky sticks that expired in 2015. I do not know what is it about asian grocery stores, they are disorganized, full of stuff that half or more you don't know what it is (and I'm chinese..) or maybe it has a past due date. This store is good for bottled stuff, like sauces, soy sauces, or grains like jasmine rice. Found some particular stuff in the fridge like burdock root.... They have tons of stuff... like china, candies, canned food, cookies, vegetables (but they weren't that fresh...), teas, etc. Prices are ok, it does seem like things have been there forever, so check the dates on the products!!! Secret to places like that, if you can bear the crowded items all in the isles then I suggest you do a one round of recognition, and later start shopping. I tried being nice and asking for their help, and they just gave me blank stares and would point. I understand if they can't understand what I'm asking, what I'm complaining is how they don't want to help. I don't really want to come back here again to be honest. Chung Hing Oriental Mart probably has the widest variety of East Asian and Southeast Asian foodstuffs you will find in Miami. Most of the items in stock are Chinese, but you'll also find some Thai, Japanese, Korean, and I think Filipino and Malaysian sauces, spice rubs, noodles, canned vegetables and fruits. Looking for fruit juice drinks with aloe jelly? They've got them, along with a whole row of teas. There are the typical frozen dim sum dishes in one of the freezer sections, along with frozen red bean buns and other desserts. The shelves are very high and tightly packed, which might explain why some visitors feel the shop is disorganized and too congested, but if you take a few minutes to look through the stock, you'll see that it is actually pretty well organized. There is a section of shelves with plenty of dishware and cooking utensils in the far back to the left, if you are in need a of new soup bowl, wok, or cleaver. They also sell some Chinese deli food (like char siu) and seafood, but I have never bought any of these. Prices seem pretty fair overall. read more

I very rarely post bad reviews but wow, my experience was a disaster. After having a great experience down the street by all sorts of goodies at Beijing Mart I decided to try this other place to see if they had different stuff. I went there mostly for sweets and candy and I purchased a whole selection of items. Bags of candy, mochi, some baked goods including a freshly baked cake at the front. Everything was really disgusting and horrible. It was like it had all been sitting on the shelf for ages and gone bad. Even the freshly baked cake seemed old and stale. They had fresh fish that were tanks so dirty that it looked scary. Anyways, I love Asian stuff I regularly around all the time to Asian supermarkets and I've never had bad experiences especially with snack food except for here. This place is great. It was the only Asian Market of the three on 163 St in N. Miami that had the Korean pepper powder I needed to make Kimchi. This place is the real deal, they have everything. They even had live blue crabs sitting in large cases in the back along with live fish in a large tank. Nice produce section with an array of Asian produce. A challenging Thai recipe brought me to this super market. I had my list in hand and was determined to make this happen. I walked in to this medium sized market. It feels small because it really is packed to the brim with stuff. As another Yelper mentioned, the aisles are narrow. This place can be a bit overwhelming because most everything is written in Chinese. Mind you, every time I asked for something, i.e. bamboo shoots, one of the women in the front showed me the way. It seems though, that walking around looking lost will not get anything accomplished. In this place, you have to seek help. ASK! I bought some canned stuff that was past its expiration date. So, check the dates of canned stuff. The vegetables were fresh and the fresh bamboo shoots were perfect. With a little time an patience, one can really get a lot accomplished here. I've recently came here and here's my verdict: Customer service was decent and helpful (I had some questions and asked the staff member if they could help me. If you have a question, just ask one of the staff members). My questions were answered and the cashier is nice. There was a lot of products they offer! The shelves are PACKED. There's so much stuff and the aisle are narrow, I sometime feel cramp there. But, there are merchandises that I found interesting and useful. Examples of things I discovered there are Japanese fans, red envelopes, kitchen wares and utensils, etc. Before I came here, I've read the reviews about looking at the expiration dates. Do that- one should always look at the expiration date when making a purchase wherever they are shopping at. Overall, I had a good experience and will shop again. They also have live seafood by the way! However, I wish they have a bike rack since I mainly travel by bike. read more

Never-ever again!!!! Cockroaches everywhere, the worker doesn't even bother to look at them. The cockroaches are sitting on the merchandise right on the shelves next to the register. I showed them to the employee at the register, she said ok, she knows. I bought a big $25 box of Jasmine rice and when I opened it at home, I was terrified by the amount of bugs and moth and eggs and larva inside. I am not Asian, just going there for rice and couple more things. I think, Asian people should be offended by this and fight for their reputation. read more
