I'm predisposed to liking Winn-Dixie: My progeny and I love the book, "Because of Winn Dixie"; my parents and I knew the founding family; and I have a lot of nostalgia for the regional grocery chain, which in my parts used to carry that hard-to-find Ale-8-One soda. This North Miami Beach / Sunny Isles location would not rank among my favorite locations. First off, the good: - Staff were really nice. So, so nice, including to the incredibly obnoxious, entitled, Orthodox family shopping at the same time as us, who would certainly have tried my patience. - The store is open until 11 p.m. -- the only reason why we ended up there after our late, delayed flight. Nothing else was open. - There are some organic produce offerings on offer, and some offerings that would be harder to find in our neck of the woods like flan and mango or coconut yogurt. The less-than-good: - Prices for many items were unreasonable for the quality. This is from a New Yorker who lives on the UWS. - Produce seemed to be quite limited in range and of lesser quality than what we are used to. We purchased some essentials for the time being, but I think we're going to have to hit up a Whole Foods or Publix tomorrow to grocery shop properly. read more

I live close to this place, and I do everything possible to avoid shopping there. I've bought packaged salads and had to throw them away because half of them were already spoiled. The same thing happens with the orange bags and strawberries -- half of them are rotten. Sometimes they have deals like 3 for $10, but all of them are already bad. If you go to the candy section, you have to be careful because some products even have mold on them. The ham they pre-slice in the deli section turns slimy within two days. The quality is terrible overall, except maybe for canned products. The customer service is also awful. Nobody seems interested in helping you, except for maybe one or two employees who work there. Honestly, it would be better if they closed that place and opened something else instead. It's unbelievable that even though I live so close, I have to drive all the way to Publix in Sunny Isles just to buy groceries. read more

Not the cleanest of markets I've been to. I was in and out and found what I was looking for but couldn't help notice how dirty it was (everywhere). They closed the WD in Aventura so I came to this one. Only 1 cashier and the automatic lanes barely worked. The worst part...the years of dirt and grime on the main entrance doors is disgusting. Thyr have 2 doors, the other side was clean simply because those doors are not used. But, the main doors which are sliding and no one touches them yet, they have not been cleaned for years. So, if the main doors are disgustingly dirty, what is left for the rest of the place? I will go to the one in Hallandale from now on. read more

Not good 1. Price Gouging: - Same items at other markets are 2x or 3x less. I could not believe how inflated prices are on "healthy" or "premium" goods. Especially anything organic, I've seen the same organic products sold so much cheaper at other markets. 2. Quality Control: - Make sure you check expiration dates/ingredients/condition before purchasing. I've purchased products with mildew/mold, or products with short timeline expiration dates, or expired products. 3. Winn-Dixie Supports Vendors with False Advertising: - I was astonished, from the overpriced vitamins & supplements with food coloring/corn syrup to over 50% of shelved products leading consumers to think they are purchasing something good for them, when it actually contains poison for the body and costs more than other markets. 4. Building/Facility Condition: - Confused how such a poor looking, outdated, unchanged for years market is in such a great area. Most carts are broken, there's a smell of old throughout the market, you walk into any other big brand market and will notice how they improve and take care of their facility over time. T.J. Maxx next door shouldn't be winning when it comes to finding healthy fair priced packaged foods in comparison to this "market" who's been there for years; Winn-Dixie's objective is clearly to be as cheap as possible and has no value in its consumers or improvement. Really hope locals start to save money and improve their health by shopping at other markets to make way for a replacement which deserves to be in this neighborhood. No actual price on items, every time cashier ask make photo to proof a price. Fish stay over night in display, next day you will tell it's fresh, most workers in the store doesn't speak English. I can't tell you how many times I've left Duffys and needed a bottle to go. Since this parking lot offers so much variety in terms of retail shopping, dining, and corporate services-a grocery store perfectly situated here is just a blessing in every way. My chancletas has traversed the aisles of this spot grabbing my essentials in a pinch of time on multiple occasions hence the satisfactory rating. I will say the deli section has never enamored me but I rely on the fact they fulfill other talents...like bogo wine. I always seem to find a total bargain on certain meat products like ribs and sirloin year round so it's a great spot to come to before a barbecue. I really enjoyed working here but, one day, one Jewish customer complained about how I bagged her groceries so she went to complain and the Cuban manager, in those days, he let me go. The Pharmacy Win dixie have in Aventura is the exact example of terrible cuatomer service. The attendant Roseta ignores you and avoids you for half an hour , talk with the young pharmacist knowing you are waiting. you receive a confirmation to pick up your prescription just to go and have nothing to pock up for several times. I gotta say, there are about as many pros as there are cons which is why I think they deserve 3 stars. I'll start with the pros: - They clean and disinfect carts and baskets and set them aside for patrons to use - It never crowds like many other grocery stores, possibly because they mostly service the locals (such as myself) - Prices are decent and the location is convenient (I live across the water from here) - From what I can tell they mostly hire and keep high school-aged people and I appreciate that a local employer empowers the youth like this The cons: - On multiple occasions, I have unknowingly bought expired products, or have caught expired stuff on display for purchase - At least half the time the lines are long as (insert word here) - They run out of stock often which is annoying I recommend this Winn-dixie to the locals only, just because it's conveniently close, prices are good, and quality of food is just as good as any other grocery store. read more

I'm a Publix guy and came here out of convenience of shopping near by. In short what a regret. I guess Publix has spoiled me over the years. Didn't care for the layout. Was going to make spaghetti but couldn't find tomatoes not in a can. Ok no big deal. I looked at the meat section. Winn Dixie are supposed to be the beef people. What a joke of selection of meat. Looked at the other stuff. Not that much selection. Has most of the basics. Selection is OK but missing a lot of flavors. Even tried to buy one of their BOGOs. Well I didn't have their card so wasn't really a BOGO. Bought some milk and the date was good. Got home to find it was spoiled pretty well. What a waste. Lesson learned for a long time again. Never again will I set foot in any of their stores. Customer service is non-existent. Prices are absurd ($8.19 for a gallon of water?!?) unless you sign up for their "Rewards" program, which is nothing but a data miner. Then, prices are only slightly higher than neighboring competitors. That is, if you can get a phone number to work. It took three days after I signed up for the system to recognize my number. The fact that they completely remodeled the local store proves that you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. read more

The worst. Called Total of 9 times today to see if medicine is ready. Phone just rings. Out of the 9 times, lady picks up and puts you on hold and just never comes back. Trying again. Asked for store manager. Already went home. Now I'm told to hold on again. Total of holding now exceeds 50 minutes today. I wrote to corporate. Will contact them again tomorrow. I'll give this Winn-Dixie 2/5 stars and that's generous. To be honest, I've never been in a Winn-Dixie that I'd ever rate more than 2 stars. Here's why. In just about every WD (this one included), you'll often find that the produce is either close to rotten or it IS rotten on the shelves. There is no real organization. This particular location has 2 aisles PER AISLE. You could be looking for paper goods and they're not on the same aisle as say, disposable aluminum pans or Ziplocs, like in most of their grocery stores. You might (and probably will) find certain items on more than one aisle. Their selection is actually rather limited despite the size of the store. You'll typically see one brand name and then 2-3 SE Grocer (aka the STORE BRAND) versions of a product. Like their produce, their seafood is questionable at best and I'll never buy any fish/seafood there. I totally agree with other people's reviews of the employees at this location, management included. They are not friendly. They are not helpful. The customer service is severely lacking. I am so glad to have other, far better options for grocery shopping in the area. I'd even go out of the way for groceries. Typically I'll shop at this location only if I need something in a pinch...and nothing perishable. read more

I had a horrible situation in the Aventura location. I stopped in to grab some ice . I walked into a store that had one register open . The line was extremely long at that register so I went to the customer service area . I Saw at least 7 employees congregating and laughing away. As I walked up, one of them immediately pointed to the full register without hearing what I had to say. That was alarming but didn't want to get into an argument since I just wanted to get out of the crowded situation . Once I got into the line. The cashier was having issues with her register. Everyone in line was getting agitated . I then asked the crowed of employees if anyone could help and they just laughed. I then asked to speak to the manager . This was extra concerning because we were trying to follow the social distancing guidelines but because none of the employees wanted to help. The lines were just getting more crowded . The manager came up with major attitude . The customers in line noticed and mentioned why they can now see why the employees were acting this way . I told the manager what we experienced and she basically shrugged . I asked for her name and she looked at me like I was crazy . A few of the customers stood and witnessed the interaction . I have a feeling win Dixie lost a bunch of customers that day. That store has been poorly run for some time now and I try to avoid it because of interactions just like this . I like Winn-Dixie just as much as other big markets, but truthfully I don't come here all that often. This past visit I came because they were open late on a Sunday, when all the other markets close 2 hours earlier. This alone gets them that extra star. Whats interesting is that some products were much cheaper and plenty of BOGO deals. Other products were much more expensive than even Whole Foods. I don't get it. This place is located in the back of the Promenade shops in Aventura. You cant see if from US1, so it may be hard to get to if you don't know the area, but there is plenty of parking, and they have security at night. read more

This store is located in a great shopping center. Chuck e cheese, home goods, Sicilian oven, and across the street from aventura mall. They have free wifi sitting area with free coffee. Great for tourists.nice selections of groceries, bakery and cooked foods. Checkout is easy and fast. They also have self checkout. So I'm giving this place 5 stars for a few reasons. It's friggin huge! And they have everything! The name alone, Winn Dixie. Lol. What an awesome name. The cashiers were nice and the store was clean. It's no Walmart, but wow. I wish they had these places up here in NY! As for prices- I can't really say that it was cheaper than NY prices, but some of the items might have been. I'm giving this rating solely based off of the customer service that I have experienced at this location. You guys lack in this category SEVERELY. First, I'd like to point out the fact that the employees are never anywhere to be found to assist customers with their shopping experience. It's almost as if they have no urge to help us out and that's suppose to be their MAIN job as a store associate. Second, I'd like to point out the two men who normally work the counter by the lotto tickets. I didn't get their name's but if I could I would have. Anyways, I always check out at that counter and they have never greeted me with something as simple as a "Hello" or "Have a great day". That's BASIC customer service. They either need to fire the hiring manager that bring these employees in, or fire the employees that display horrible customer service. I was going to approach after I left the cash. More problem stuff at the cash. It is now 4:00 in the afternoon: Two cashiers close up as I get there It's now 30 peppers deep and only 2 cashiers are open. I left my full cart and walked out ! This Winn Dixie location in Aventura what many people might not know has about a third of the store is exclusively Kosher. When you walk in to your far right you will not only find a Kosher deli counter but the roasted chickens that are cooked and ready to go are Kosher and priced accordingly. Yesterday as I was looking for a Thanksgiving turkey I was happy to see they had Kosher turkeys as well. It is wonderful that this supermarket chain caters to the customers in this area. In the past I have seen a lot of my Kosher friends shopping at this location. Now yesterday being Saturday I knew it would be empty as most religious Jews are keeping the Sabbath. For me that is not observant I knew it would be the best time to shop. Thus an empty store and parking lot. This location also has all your needs that you come to expect in your Winn Dixie location. read more

#62 While I do not normally frequent grocery stores on vacations, this trip I seem to visit one every other day. Today was Winn Dixie... cute name for a southern grocer. I wanted water, just water, but needed lots of it. It is amazing how dehydrated one can become in such a hot, humid climate. The store was well laid out, with helpful employees everywhere to aid me in my quest for H20. I found the water and even found some crazy brand of frozen, healthy--yes, healthy--frozen pizza (I will have to look for this brand when I get back to the Bay Area). The customer service in Winn Dixie was true to southern hospitality. The lines were short, the service professionals were courteous, and we were on our way in seconds. Wow, what a difference a couple of months makes. I stopped in here today at lunchtime to pick up some stuff to avoid having to drag my kids in after a long day at summer camp and was very surprised at the new look. I know they didn't add any floor space, but whatever way they have reconfigured this store it looks GREAT and seems to be more organized. They also have a new hot and cold deli counter and serve full hot meals. This store being located in the heart of Aventura has a huge selection of Kosher and Israeli foods, so maybe lunchtime on a Friday is not the best of times to go grocery shopping with Shabbat looming, but they do have four self-service registers and I love those because you don't get stuck behind the local coupon queen. read more
