Heart attack waiting to happen: Chicken wings & fries
    Tayana C.

I have a love hate relationship with that place. I love to hate it but I hate that I keep going back every time I am in a bind. I have lived in Dot for a long time and I can tell you that this place has been shut down by the health department at least twice. That is VERY worrisome to me. But I have to tell you that every time they opened back up, the food quality improved, as well as the cleanliness of the place. That earned them a full star for effort. I black balled this place a long time ago but when my car is buried in snow & I can't drive all the way to the South End for food, I bow my head & accept the dose of humility mother nature is giving me. It is in no way my hot spot for good food but when you can't go far, Chung Wah should do. I don't get too adventurous with them. I stick with the shrimp fried rice, chicken wings, fries, fried plantains, broccoli chicken. If you get any rice plate, be prepared to pay $6 for 2 days worth of food because they give you plenty of bang for your buck. They are open late but if you plan on going after dark don't leave your gun/vest at home because this place is in the H-O-O-D.

Affordable Chinese food, it is a hole in the wall kind of place but it's enjoyable. Cash only. The service is efficient. It's pretty tasty!

Taking a star from my previous review. Honestly if I knew the price I would have ordered from the…read moreHaitian place because their food is healthier and roughly around the same price. Even the Jamaican place's price is similar! No matter how good the food is I hate when takeout places display the wrong price and then expect you to pay the higher price. I thought the price was 15.75...reasonable in 2025. Then he asked for 17 something. Guys...I know the public education system isn't great but anyone can tell that's more than 7% tax. Anyway, they just boldly asked me to pay the higher undisplayed price...much like the Texas BBQ place next door! I'm sure this is illegal. Let's hope the food is good or this review is dropping even lower. They did throw in a free egg roll to pacify me which is more than the other place did...and I'm fat so I accepted the bribe. Nevertheless. Restaurants...do better! Also...I'll be posting this when and only when I exit with my food!

Great food! I ordered delivery and everything came so fresh and delicious. I ordered the combo of…read morethe Shrimp with Broccoli, 4 Crab Rangoons, and Pork Fried Rice for $15.75. First of all, that is a pretty good price for that much food. There's definitely some places that have cheaper combos, but they usually have just a main dish, fried rice, and a single appetizer. 4 crab rangoons is a lot! Secondly, the amount of food that actually came in this order was massive. It is enough fried rice for at least two meals, and the shrimp with broccoli was a good portion as well. Third, the restaurant gave me a free egg roll on top of it! And lastly, the taste. The crab rangoons had scallions and imitation crab in them and were still very crispy. The egg roll had mostly veggies in it, but the duck sauce that came with the order is some of the best duck sauce I've had - it's not that orange or yellow stuff - it's the real deal made with the right proportions of apple sauce, vinegar, and sugar (and other things too?). But the point is that the duck sauce was GOOD. The pork fried rice was dark brown and the perfect New England style fried rice with bean sprouts (also not always included by other places) and BBQ pork. And the shrimp tasted actually really fresh and plump while the broccoli was crisp and absorbed the sauce well. All in all, 5/5 for sure - this is place is great!

I've been coming here since 2002 and though I moved out of Boston in 2005, I make sure to come get an order everytime I'm in town. Good food, good portions, and most of all, GREAT Combination plates. My go combo is the D11. Chicken Fingers, Boneless Spareribs, Beef Teriyaki, and Pork Fried Rice. This combination is a perfect balance of pork, beef, and chicken. The ribs are meaty and have a perfect sweet to salt balance. The beef teriyaki is well done and pairs well with the pork fried rice. The highlight for me is the moist, meaty chicken fingers. The meat is seasoned as well as the batter is too. The pork fried rice brings everything together as I take a scoop of rice with every bite of meat. LoL!!!! Now, if you know what's good for you, make sure to get the Duck Sauce. One thing about the Chinese food in Boston is the Duck Sauce. It's sweet and provides an added flavor profile to everything on the plate. Also, regardless of what you order, the duck sauce will always make it taste even better. LoL!!! If you're in the area you've gotta stop in and get some food from Chinatown Express. The menu has a variety of options. The lunch and dinner specials are awesome. The service is good. And the food is fresh. 20 years later and they still haven't lost the quality goodness that I enjoy!

We ordered 3 combination plates with sesame chicken, crab Rangoon, and pork fried rice, 2 combination plates with general tso chicken, crab Rangoon, and chicken fried rice, one large order of tostones, and one large order of chicken wings for $108. The food was ready after about 15 minutes and was still warm after 30 minutes when we were ready to eat. We all agreed that the food was less greasy than most Chinese food places. Also, the wings were really crispy and tasted fresh. The rice was really good, and surprisingly I did prefer the chicken fried rice. I liked the general tso chicken more than the sesame chicken since it had a bit of spice and more flavor, whereas the sesame chicken was just sweet. I did wish the breading was crispier, but I think it was just because it was take out and about a 20 minute drive. The crab rangoons were good but they did need just a little more filling for my liking. The tostones would have been a lot better right out the oil but it did bring a lot in the order. Overall, I was very satisfied with the portion sizes, flavor, and cost.
